Emery

Two days have passed, and my life here has been great—better than the one I had in the Williams family by a hundredfold. There’s really not much that I do. I just watch TV in my room, do my own chores, walk in the garden, and talk with Liliana. I will be lying, however, if I say that I’m entirely happy in this house. I smell Kairo’s scent everywhere, but he’s nowhere to be seen. He’s so near yet so far.

It was a new morning, so I went down to the kitchen and whipped myself up some pancakes. I made a couple of extra pieces and covered them, just in case the pack children would want to have something sweet in the morning. I placed a sticky note on the lid that read, “pancakes” then left the kitchen to eat mine. I was happy to see that I was the only one in the dining room. I still wasn’t used to the people here in the pack.

The peaceful atmosphere was destroyed when a group of rowdy teenagers my age entered the dining room in a

I f this book is all about the ugly things people do to each other then I will quit reading it at the end of this chapter. I have seen enough of that in Real Life. I read for facts or fun. This isn't fun yet.

Amelia This week has been off. Ever since the party ended, Kairo has not been paying attention to me that much. He’s a cold person, to begin with, but he always made sure that he had time to spare to spend with me. Even then, he would fast-track meetings just so he could hold me while watching a movie. Now, he can’t even hold me as I sleep! Every day, I feel like I’m losing the position that I’ve worked hard to acquire. Is it because we aren’t mates? I sighed and walked down the living room when I heard Kairo’s reprimanding voice. I got curious about the scene, so I listened in on their conversation. “Didn’t you hear my warning during the Williams’ trial?” He asked the group of friends that I was acquaintances with. “I told you that I take these circumstances very seriously. As your Alpha, I want what is best for the pack, and this is not the kind of behavior that is optimum for our growth and development. You got that?”

Emery I followed Kairo, not even sparing a glance at Amelia. This incident just proves her disdain for me. I even gave her the benefit of the doubt at the party, but I guess those were her true colors. I thought that she was reasonably mean to me because I took her dress, but this has blown way out of proportion. I wanted to thank Kairo once again for defending me, but his strides were too long that I couldn't keep up. I’m sure that he could hear my footsteps, but it’s as if he doesn’t care. “Kairo, wait,” I called out, but he still ignored me. I called out his name once again, louder this time, “Kai.” He paused for a while but sped up his strides. Our gap was getting bigger and bigger, but I still followed him through and through. However, once he had entered the training center, I couldn’t follow him anymore. I respect his workspace, and I don’t want to disturb the other wolves in their training. I sighed and t

  • The Alpha's Hidden Child   Chapter 17: The "Date"

Emery I went back to my room to prepare for Kairo and I’s trip. Was this a date? I thought to myself. I felt giddy and excited that I was finally having some alone time with my mate. I went to my closet and tried to find the most decent clothes that I had. I only ever have plain t-shirts and jeans but hidden in the very back of my closet were my mom’s clothes. I only wore them during special occasions, but I feel like this event is special enough for me to wear them. I hauled the box out of the closet then started delicately digging for something casual but presentable in the box. I smiled as I saw a simple sky blue dress at the bottom of the box. It was made from a light material, and it went up down to my knees. I grabbed it out of the box and placed it in front of my body in the mirror. The material was so flowy and light that I was afraid of tearing it in half. I handled it delicately and placed it on my bed as I went to shower.&

Emery He looked at me incredulously. This was the first time that I was able to elicit some type of reaction from him aside from anger and annoyance. I smiled at him widely and waved my hands in front of his face since he was still staring at me intently. “Are you okay?” I asked, concern laced in my voice. He snapped from his thoughts and coughed lightly. “I’m fine.” He said. “Are you sure?” “Yeah, let’s just eat, and so we can go back earlier,” He said while opening the picnic basket that Liliana had prepared. I pouted because of his words. He looked at me and scoffed. “Fine, what did she prepare for us?” I asked, excited. My eyes widened when I saw an array of desserts. They were all my favorites! Cheesecake, ice cream, and donuts were placed in front of me, and I couldn’t help but look at them with hungry eyes. I reached out for a plate and put everything on my plate. I was indulging in the swee

Emery All the way back to the packhouse, I kept on trying to talk to Kairo. I told him about the first time that I went to the packhouse and how I met Dalton. I don’t think he was paying attention, but I was just so elated when he asked me to call him “Hux.” “Hux, Hux!” I said. “Can you keep your mouth shut?” He asked, annoyed. “But you still did not answer my question. Where did your name come from? It’s so cool and unique. And it suits you perfectly.” I rambled, quickening my steps so that I could walk nearer to him. “You don’t have to know.” He sighed. “And I regret telling you about that name. Can you just forget about it?” “Nope,” I shook my head. “No return. No exchange. I’m never going to let go of that name now.” I said, smiling cheekily at him. He groaned, “Were you always this annoying?” “No. I’m like this only with you.” I smiled, attempting to poke his arm. He

Emery I excitedly went down to the playground after lunch had finished. It was still a little early, so I was the first one there. I sat on one of the swings and enjoyed the sweet and cool breeze. “Hi!” I heard a voice say beside me. “Emery, right?” She asked. I looked back and saw a tall, curly-haired girl. Her dark skin shone in the sun. “Yeah, hi!” I greeted back. “Are you Desiree?” I asked. “That’s me,” She responded, sitting on one of the swings next to me. She looked at me momentarily, and I got shy. “Is there something on my face?” I asked. “No! Sorry, was I staring?” She laughed embarrassedly. “It’s just that Dalton and Dante were right. You really are pretty.” I blushed. “You’re prettier.” She laughed. “Thanks, that really means a lot. Especially coming from you.” We fell in a comfortable silence as we swung back and forth. I wanted to become closer to her, so I initiated a conversation

He gazed at me and fiercely asked, “What the fuck did you do?"Amelia interrupted me before I could speak, “Emery pushed this kid off the slide! I saw it with my own two eyes.” She said in a panicked voice.“No, that didn’t happen! We were just playing and went over to the slide but then—”“Oh my god. Blood! Kairo, there’s blood. The child’s head is bleeding.” Amelia was looking at Kairo while frantically trying to get away from the blood.“Lyle!” I exclaimed. I kneeled down in front of him in hopes of helping him, but a strong force suddenly pushed me away from the scene. It was Kairo. I was thrown to the ground, and my palms hit the rough gravel bed. However, I still want to make this right.I was sitting near the living room window when Desiree poked my arm, “Hey, how are you?”“I’m okay,” I responded with a smile, even if it didn’t reach my eyes.“I heard that Lyle’s better now,” She said while rubbing my arm. I felt comforted.“Yeah, I visited him for the past two days, and he seems to be fully recovered now. It’s a good thing that his parents listened to me and understood the whole situation.”“But you didn’t even do anything wrong! You don’t have to explain yourself.” She said, shaking my arm. “I know! They looked like a perfect family, and they are! However, Emery and Laura started talking hushedly and giggling as the dessert was served. Kairo leaned closer to her lovely ladies in an attempt to hear their conversation. Laura turned to her swiftly and scooted closer to her mom. “What are you doing, dad? Can’t you see that mom and I are talking?” Kairo pouted and bitterly ate his black forest cake. “You’ve changed. You used to tell everything to daddy. But I guess you’re too cool for that now.” Laura is now in middle school, and Kairo has been feeling melancholic these past few days. He feels like time is moving too fast, and his once cute children can now live without depending on him. Laura sighed and pushed her seat back in its original placement. “I always tel

You could have signed me up for a hotdog-eating event, horseback racing, corn tending, you could have even signed me up for a Japanese karaoke reality show, and I wouldn’t hesitate to agree. But this! This is too much!” I said and shook my head.Karina went over to me and shook my shoulders. “Oh, come on, Dalton! I looked at my set of alarms and saw that they were all turned off. I slammed my phone down on the bed and screamed the name of the one and only culprit.“Arlo! I turned around to scold the culprit and saw my mom.“Mom! What are you doing in my room? Privacy, please!” I said exasperatedly. She gave me a tired look and went beside me. “Arlo, please. I love you very much, and you’re a very handsome boy. But you’re turning borderline narcissistic. You’ve been hanging out too long with your uncle Dalton. I need to speak to your father about this.”I gestured towards my new shoes and complained. “But Uncle Dalton’s a cool guy, mom! He just bought me some new shoes for my first day of s

Third Person’s POVEmery stood anxiously by the door while Kairo bounced in excitement. It has been a while since they’ve gone out on a date, and today, they finally got the chance to do that. Kairo went all out and booked an expensive hotel just outside the city for Emery and him.“Are we really leaving our kids to him?” Emery asked.“Hey! What’s wrong with me?” Dalton asked, distastefulness heard in his voice. “Just look at the kids! They’re so behaved now that I’m here.”After Dalton said that statement, Laura pushed off the contents of the living room table while Arlo chased Devyn with a worm. It seems like the house became more chaotic with Dalton just being there.Emery looked at him incredulously. “Are you serious?” She turned back to Kairo and held onto his shoulders. “Let’s have our date some other time, okay? Maybe when the kids get older.”

KairoToday, Emery is taking Arlo and Devyn to their monthly haircut, so I had to stay at home to take care of baby Laura all by myself. Laura is now three years old, and she’s the most energetic that she’s ever been. She wasn’t awake yet at the moment, so I had some time to breathe for myself.Emery had just finished arranging the boys’ bags when I went behind her to give her a back hug.She chuckled and turned around. She brought her arms around my neck and gave me a peck on my pouty lips. “What are you acting like a big baby for?” She asked softly.“You’re leaving me alone,” I whined.Emery chuckled. “I’m only going to take the boys for their haircut. It’s only going to take two hours at most. Besides, this is going to be a great opportunity for you to exercise your fatherhood. You haven’t even tried being alone with Laura now that she’s a toddler.”

Third Person’s POV Time flew by pretty quickly, and baby Laura is now a year old. Being an exceptional baby, she quickly developed the skills of a toddler, even as an infant. At a year old, she can already walk and write basic letters. She can even hum a tune! However, what is strange among all of these, is that she hasn’t uttered her first words yet. There were plenty of times when it felt like she was finally going to say her first words, but she sure does know how to play push-and-pull. Since everybody’s anticipating her first words, they’ve placed bets among themselves on what her first words are going to be. The group of friends was sitting on the floor in the living room. Along with them were Arlo, Devyn, and the grandparents. Crassus slammed his foot down the floor and intimidatingly looked at all of them. “I’m telling you right now. Laura’s first words will be ‘mama.’ It will always be ‘mama.’ Every other child that I’ve known

I couldn’t believe that they have the audacity to take their numbers when we were literally next to them!” Karina rambled.“Right? And can’t that blondie even see my baby bump? Like hello? • The Alpha's Hidden Child   Special Chapter: The Disastrous Gender Reveal Party

Third Person’s POVThe group of friends was currently sitting down on their living room couch, huddled over Kairo’s laptop. It was pretty late at night, so the kids had all gone to sleep. They were currently watching gender reveal parties on a video platform.Different kinds of snacks were laid down on the table, and only the sound of the videos, along with their munching, could be heard in the room. They were on their fifth video now, but each member’s reaction was still lukewarm. Tired from all the mediocre gender reveal parties, Dalton roughly shut down the laptop and stood up.“I’m sick and tired of these videos. They’re too boring! It’s not enough for the unborn child of the strongest Alpha in the world and a Lycan. We need to go beyond all of these! We need to invite every pack that we can and show the world just how precious your future child is. Who’s with me?” He exclaimed with exaggerated motions.
