Logan's POV...
As I sat there, hands folded on my laps, I was absorbed in the conversation that the elders were holding. I clenched my fist so that nobody could see that my fingers were actually shaking. I could not tell if it was out of anxiety about what verdict they would come to or if it was out of anger at how the Council of Elders handled issues once it came to the woman I love, Alexa. As much as what they said made sense, and listening to them, I could confess that the doubts and fears they had concerning Alexa were not flimsy, they were rightly founded, and maybe if I was not the one who was in love with Alexa, then I would have questioned the security and safety that she compromised in the pack.
However, I was very much in love with the woman and everything that the elders were saying simply made me uncomfortable; they did not know her as much as I did, and I could swear on my life that Alexa never did anything to bring harm to the pack or to anyo
Logan's POV...The dining room was filled with most members of the pack. It was pretty noisy, with loud chatters and husky laughs from the men surrounding the table. The air smelled strongly of freshly baked waffles, coriander and vanilla.Several large trays of food were still being carried into the room by women and girls in long flowing skirts and aprons tied around their waists. The tables were filled with men, women, children and even infants being held in their mother's arms. A certain boy was wailing loudly and seemed to attract the attention of many to himself.I was quickly reminded of Alexa, and my heart leapt a bit in my chest; I couldn't wait to be with her; the peace that came whenever she was near me gave me an assurance that my heart was in the right place. Many pack members bowed to me respectfully as I made my way around the dining room, speaking briefly with some of my trusted men. It was a busy morning; most men were dressing up f
Author's POV...The dungeon's floor was wet and smelled strongly of blood and fluids unnamed. Although Logan had not quite ordered her to be beaten or maltreated in any way, the dungeon alone, which she had to occupy for nearly a year, was punishment enough.Kara turned to stare at the dungeon gate when she heard footsteps draw closer to where she was. She listened closely, straining her ears beyond the thick doors that secured the dungeon. Not long after, the cell door next to her opened loudly, and she could hear the strike of whips and the agonized cries that came from the unfortunate prisoner. She moved away from the door. At least, if she had nothing in particular, to be thankful for, she was grateful that she wasn't being whipped, starved or tortured in the cell. She had been there for a while, and she knew what went on in the dungeon halls when the lights were off. It was not pretty, and she'd wept once or twice when she was still new.But that was
Author's POV...The howls could be heard from a distance, the small cries of the night owls and the croaks of the fat frogs that inhabited the swamp at the borders of the territory all mixed to give a slight eerie melody, the kind that made one want to listen and be put to sleep or flee far away from its strangeness. The bushes rustled gently as the night breeze whirled through them, making smaller insects fly away and find shelter in the quieter parts of the vast forest that overlooked the pack house. The trees towered threateningly, their branches crisscrossing beautifully and tangling at the stems, their roots thick enough to provide holes for squirrels and other rodents.Men still strolled around the perimeter, barely exchanging glances and nods. Each with weapons not quite concealed, large bright torches and clad in black t-shirts and heavy leather boots that made them blend into the night so much that it required the trained eyes of one to see the ot
Author's POV... Kara lay there for about half an hour, listening to the movements die down until, eventually, it was as quiet as the grave; even the snore of fellow prisoners could not be heard. She knew it was time to go. She rose and shredded her clothes till all that was left was her inner wear; she then wrapped the pieces of the shredded clothes around her feet, she knew her delicate soles could not take what she was planning, and she had no shoes to put on. With her feet heavily padded up, she crawled quietly to the corner. She removed the key, cleaned it up and fit it into the lock, praying she had gotten the right one; she had watched and made sure she knew the exact keys for her cell. As she heard the click, she sighed with relief and opened the door very slowly to avoid the creaking sound; she squeezed herself through and tiptoed into the night, quietly navigating the many hallways that led around the dungeon. She had listened to the rhythm of footfalls each day and could
Author's POV... Kara could smell the water. Her throat was dry, she had nothing in her stomach for the past few days, and she was thirsty. The rain that fell the previous night was too heavy for her to drink from, except from the mud, which she was not ready to drink. The heavy rain with lightning made her run to a nearby abandoned tree house for shelter. She was still in the thick forest, and although sometimes she could hear the honk of a train and the sound of several horses, no matter how much she walked, jumped over tree stumps and checked, she could not seem to find her way out of the forest. If there was one thing that Kara was good at, it was paying close attention. Once or twice, Logan had taken her for a run in the forest. Although she did not quite pay attention to how it led out, she was sure that the left terrain was the right direction to take if someone wanted to get to the neighbouring town or leave the territory of the red Lotus. For two nights, she had neither sl
Author's POV...There was a terrible pounding in her head; it seemed ready to combust at any point. Her temple was aching too badly. As she lay on the unfamiliar bed, she could feel all the cuts she had sustained during the trek through the forest and her numerous falls.Kara turned around and tried to survey her immediate environment without giving away the fact that she was awake. She still had her suspicions that the red lotus pack had found her, but from the bits of conversation she'd gathered so far, she was sure that it was a new pack and one that did not seem to know who she was."The master said to let her rest; she's even lucky to survive that level of infection, tetanus was setting in, and if we hadn't stumbled upon her when we did, then she would be very dead," the first voice said. The second person, obviously still a man, was bummed in affirmation."I wonder who she is; no marks, no information on her, nothing", the first one stated, his voice a little curious."Hmmm... M
Author's POV...It was like she was in luck; Vader seemed to be just the kind of man she wanted to meet on her journey. She found out that she was at a certain Alpha's pack whose name was Carl, a man whom, luckily, she already knew. After Vader had called her bluff, Kara knew that it was useless to try and lie again to cover up, she was already in the open, and she knew that the man would not believe a single word that came out of her mouth if she tried to lie again.Kara immediately decided that Vader knew how to be really smart to just put the puzzle pieces together so quickly and determine that she was the same prisoner who had escaped from the red lotus pack. Of course, she had expected that the news of her escape would spread around the whole territory. Still, she did not count on the fact that the word about the breakout from the prison would go beyond the borders of the red lotus pack.Although she could see the coldness in Vader's eyes
Alexa's POV...The dim room was supposed to give some form of comfort and relaxation, but it had the opposite effect on me. All I could do was stare at the ceiling, hoping my heart would stop beating so quickly and my head would stop conjuring frightening images and allow me some semblance of peace and quiet. The dinner of spaghetti sauce and beer was served that evening. Logan had barely touched his food before he was called out by Simon. He said that he had some urgent pack duties to attend to. I, too, could not eat; the little bit of food I had swallowed seemed to have turned into lead in my stomach, making me feel bloated and heavy and stressing me with the energy to keep my disgusted face as it seemed like the bile was rising into my mouth.I gave up on the spaghetti and meatloaf and focused on my bottle of beer; at least the cold comfort that it offered cascaded down my throat and massaged me comfortably; it was a relief to be back here, even if the stares
"I used to be the well-respected Lady Kara. Everyone feared me! No one beneath me dared to so much as look me in the eye or remain sitting whenever I walked into a room, but now, I've lost everything! My life, my status, my man, all gone! I've become a nobody all because of that bitch who suddenly came and stole everything from me. I hate her so much!!!" It seems the battle she fought so hard for had been lost by Omega Kara, and she is now left to rot and suffer in a cruel world full of people just like her former self. But does the goddess give second chances? Is it possible for the darkest and evilest of hearts to turn a new leaf and become pure and white as snow? With all of her past behaviours, Kara was deemed the devil herself; now it's time for her to pay for her crimes and receive her dose of the same pain and suffering she caused others. But what will happen when the moon goddess decides not just to give her another chance to mend her ways but also an unexpected mate? The m
Alexa's POV…Logan was reluctant, but after pleading, he decided to trust me as much as he did before. After he ordered his men to leave the room, I turned from him to Kara."You can have anything you want, Kara. You want Logan. Fine. I will leave this pack with Alvin and never return. You can have him then, your queenship, your Luna title and everything else I took from you, I'll give it back. Please, just spare the child.""You must think I am a fool, Alexa. You think I don't know what Logan will do to me the minute this child is in safety. Besides, I know he doesn't want me anymore. So, thank you for your offer, but no. I'm not interested. Killing Alvin will be more satisfying because I know it's more realistic than getting married to Logan.""You might not have the Luna position or all you desired any longer, Kara, but that still doesn't mean your life won't be meaningful. I know things didn't go as planned for you
Alexa's POV…The day ended with Alpha Carl apologizing to Logan and I for the intended attack. He also wished us the best in our union before retreating with the Crescent Moon soldiers. Logan had a short meeting with the elders where they planned Vader's execution date and also agreed to free the soldiers who confessed and send them back to the Blue Scorpion pack. There was not enough time to discuss much, so we fixed another meeting, but for the first time I'd been in this pack, the elder's faces weren't filled with scowls as they saw me. Instead, I saw glints of pride and happiness on their faces. They were happy because I averted the war, and it made them change their perceptions of me. The short meeting ended with Elder Andrew saying. "We will have to pause here, it's been a long day, and since we've discussed the basics, we will arrange another meeting to give honour to whom it is due." He passed a warm smile in my direction, and so did the other elders before they got up and le
Alexa’s POV…I looked over at Logan; he was standing right there with Simon, giving me an assuring look that said he trusted me, so he let me handle it. Another person I was glad to see was Kara. She was on the other side of the terrain with Vader and Carl. No doubt, they’d been working together. If only she and Carl knew who they’d been working with. My vision gave Carl the reaction I expected. He was beginning to falter in his resolve to trust Vader fully. I continued with what I had in mind. “I know you’re still pondering what to do, Alpha Carl, but let me ask you this question. How long have you known Vader? I’m guessing it’s only been for a few months. I have known him for the greater part of my life, and I have always known that he is up to no good. The Vader I know never likes to serve under anyone. He always wants all the power for himself, and he had planned to kill Alpha Danister before Logan’s attack.” “Enough!” Vader growled. “There are many things I will tolerate, but
Alexa's POV..."Carl, I implore you to listen to me. Vader has never been one to serve under anyone. He craves power and control for himself and will stop at nothing to achieve it. He orchestrated the plan to kill Danister before Logan's attack, and he's manipulating you into trusting him." I persisted. "I'm getting tired of your accusations, Alexa. Vader has proven his loyalty time and again. I will not allow you to tarnish his reputation with your baseless claims." Alpha Carl said. "I understand that it's difficult to accept, Carl. But the evidence is there if you're willing to look. Vader's desire for power has always been evident. He thrives on manipulation and deceit. If you continue to trust him blindly, he will lead you down a treacherous path." "Enough of this nonsense, Alexa! Your attempts to tarnish my name are pathetic. Alpha Carl, do not be swayed by her lies. She is desperate and will say anything to undermine our unity." Vader interrupts. "Vader, your attempts to sil
Alexa's POV... The tension in the air was palpable as the two werewolf armies stood opposite each other. The moon hung high in the dark sky, casting an eerie glow on the battlefield. The growls and snarls of the werewolves filled the night, echoing through the surrounding forest. On one side, a pack of fierce, muscular werewolves with dark, matted fur and glowing yellow eyes awaited their adversaries. A notorious group known for their cunning strategies and ruthless nature. Led by their alpha, a massive and imposing figure with a silver-streaked mane, they were determined to claim victory. Before they could charge at each other, I appeared at the forefront, ready to end this madness and try to stop this battle without losing so many lives. I had a plan, I didn't know if it could work, but I had to at least try. I directed my attention towards the orchestrator. I already knew what to say. "Carl, listen carefully. Vader, your right-hand man, is a treacherous snake. He orchestrated
Alexa's POV...But the peace and quiet were not to last. Now officially married, although in secrecy, I could feel some form of bond with Logan. Yes, we had always been mates, but it seemed like the moment I said I do, I could feel a stronger, almost permanent bond with him. It seemed like our promise to each other over a year ago had been officially sealed; I was now forever his life mate. Each night, in each other's arms, felt different; the feel of his arms around me felt different nowadays. I could tell when he was angry, moody, sad, frightened. It was as if I could clearly read his emotions. The past few days were just like the last week, with the men and trained guards working extra hard in training and mastering new weapons and skills. Simon had once come to me and told me of his plan to convince Logan to go out and try to find out who had attacked them and why.I knew it was a waste of time; I knew Vader well enough to know that he cou
Alexa's POV...For the first twenty seconds, it seemed like all I could do was simply stare at Logan. Not only was I very shocked, but I could feel the uncertainty creeping in. Was this a joke? Was Selena somewhere in the background waiting to jump out and mock me? Was this some prank to ease off the tension created by the attack for the past few days?Logan had once or twice made too good a joke out of me. He might not have been the funniest of persons, but he sure could pull off a good prank.I shook my head involuntarily, wishing he could tell me it was all a prank. But no, there he was, still on his knee, a diamond ring still pointing towards me.Logan must have misinterpreted my silence because the next thing he did was get on his feet, tuck the ring into his back pocket, and then try to hold me. "I know these past few days have been horrible for you, and this is quite possibly the worst time on earth to bring up a topic like this; you know wha
Logan's POV...I honestly could not tell why I picked the garden. Maybe it was the many lovely memories I had of the spot with Kara when I still loved her and saw a future with her.On the other hand, Alexa seemed like a blessing in the embodiment of an angel. She was my fated mate, she bore me a child, and she still managed to make my heart skip each time I heard her time talk less of seeing her.I did not need extra time to know I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. The signs were pretty clear; she was undoubtedly the one for me.Vader was the name of the man she said she knew. I had sent out some men to dig up what else they could dig up about the man. Still, it seemed that after the blue scorpions were captured, he was nowhere to be seen until that attack on the red lotus. I had to give it to him; he was pretty good at hiding. He hid so well that he left no trail, and even after the attack, it was as if he simply evaporated or disappea
