I was there that night, in her bedroom, seated on the stool, watching her face rise and fall, her brows pinched into a frown, like darkness is leading me into light, but it becomes my choice, do I want to follow that light, or do I want to sink into darkness?

She’s my mate. The thought almost makes me insane, but staring at her calm expression, that smile hanging on her lips while she slept. She looked really happy even in her sleep. Even after everything that has happened to her, she still looks happy.

I just sat there under the dim light for only goddess knows how long watching her, trying to feel her, trying to trust her. I took the picture I had found in my father’s study out and examined the photo. I stare at her parents in the photo, standing beside mine. She really got her father’s smile, so free and warm, her father’s golden eyes that stared outside the picture.

Truly, she’s the Alpha, and I wonder how bad she will feel. Does she wish for another time for her parents? Do
