Alora’s POV

The moment the private door creaked open, my body reacted like a live wire. I shot up from the bed so fast that it felt like the mattress was burning beneath me. My heart pounded erratically in my chest, each thud a hammer of anticipation.

A strange pulse –no, a flutter– started deep inside me, down where I hadn't dared to touch myself in days. The ache that had been steadily building over Rune's absence surged through me, stronger than before, threatening to break my last remaining threads of self-control.

I stood there, frozen yet trembling, desperately trying to maintain a calm facade while every inch of my skin burned for him. My muscles tensed, and it took everything in me not to fling myself into his arms and demand he claim me right there.

But I couldn’t let him know how badly I was unraveling. I couldn’t let him see that all his teasing and tormenting had whittled me down to a raw, desperate mess.
