As I navigated the car through the city's bustling streets, my thoughts drifted back to Eva. Her fragile form, her wavering body back at the kidnapper's den - it all swirled in my head like a vortex.

I took a deep breath, my grip on the wheel tightening as I made a call. Toby answered on the first ring, his voice crisp and alert.

"Alpha Lorenzo," he said, a hint of deference in his tone.

"Toby, what's the latest on Eva?" I asked, my voice firm but laced with a hint of concern.

"I took her to the hospital as you instructed, Alpha," Toby replied. "She's receiving the best care. But we have a situation - a casualty from last night's incident. We need to address it ASAP."

My jaw clenched, my mind racing with the implications. "You're dismissed, Toby. I'll call Thelma, Eva's sister, now. You head back to the pack house and start gathering elders for the important meeting. We'll settle this today."

"Understood, Alpha," Toby said before ending the call.
