Lyra's Point of view. The rain is falling heavily, yet Thalia refuses to order the coachman to stop the carriage. We continue riding through the storm."You should tell him to stop the carriage and find a cottage or an inn, Milady." I urged her."I can't do that, Lyra. Xander hates it when people are late or miss appointments. He expects me today, and I must show up today." She replied firmly.Today is the day Thalia begins her training as Xander Blackstorm's Luna. She has spent her whole life learning about Xander's likes, dislikes, hobbies, and preferences in a woman."If Xander is the gentleman you claim he is, he would understand if you were late because of the weather." I explained."I will not hear it, Lyra. Not now." She responded.I picked up a blanket and wrapped it around her, then slumped back into the carriage seat in defeat.I doubt I am cut out to be a wife, having to put my needs last to please a man. I will forever stay Thalia's maid, then become a governess to her chi
Lyra's Point of view.I guess over here in Joaska personal maids are given some kind of edge over regular maids.I was shown to my corner earlier and I realized how much difference a personal maid’s room was from a regular maid’s.There were no bunk beds, although the room was still full of several single beds each maid had their own corner.I made use of a rag to wipe my body clean, I rubbed the perfume Thalia gifted to me a few months ago on my neck, wrists and pits. I wore a petticoat, then a cream coloured gown, made from wool.I wore a linen cap to keep my hair out of the way. I tucked my neck handkerchief into the neckline of the gown then slipped on my stockings and leather shoes.I tried retracing my steps hoping to see a maid along the way then ask about Thalia but I got lost.I kept on roaming around the maze-like corridors until I stumbled upon a double door. Stepping into the library, I was greeted with a large, elegant room filled with tall, wooden shelves packed with l
Lyra's Point of View Xander kept on making his way towards me, while I stepped back. Each time he took a step forward I took two steps backwards. The space between I and the shelf grew narrower at each step. In no time I was stuck between him and a hard shelf.“What are you doing?” I stuttered.“You know, I could have you killed for breaking the laws in my Betroth’s kingdom. I mean you could be a spy for all I know.” Xander said. His hands were placed above my head and beside my waist respectively making it hard for me to escape. He removed his hands from the top of my head and lifted up my jaw to make sure I was looking straight into his eyes.“Why are you so quiet? I love your voice. You should speak more often.” He teased me.‘I wanted to let him know that it was Thalia who taught me how to read. But that will be selfish of me because it will be putting her into trouble with her father.’“I already knew how to read before I stepped into the palace as maid for princess Thalia.” I
Lyra's Point of View Xander had told his mother about Princess Thalia's health and she was ordered to rest for three days then start her training on the fourth day.Today was actually the third day. I successfully convinced Thalia to ask Xander out for tea.She wore a red gown made of pure silk, with lace embroidery. It had a wide and pleated back. Her stomacher was heavily embellished with jewels and ribbons. Her brown hair was tied up with a red ribbon. Due to the cold weather she wore gloves made from cotton. When we arrived at the garden, Xander was seated with his legs crossed. He was so engrossed in the newspaper that he failed to notice mine and Thalia's presence.Thalia cleared her throat to gain his attention, “Good Afternoon My Lord.” She greeted Xander.Due to common courtesy about my head in respect. But I couldn't say a word that was against my teachings as a maid.“Good afternoon Princess.” He greeted her back. “You look lovely, I must say.” He said with his gaze fixed
Lyra's Point of View Thalia took another sip of tea then started to narrate what I told her the day before, to Xander who was curious about what she had read in the book.“You know.” She started. “I read somewhere that not many people know about werewolves. But Orin Darkhowl was a master at it. He knew many things about us, he even came up with several theories about our origin. And the Midnight Howl was the book that contained all his life's discoveries. I haven't read much though I only got the book yesterday after all. I am still in the first two chapters. But from what I read in chapter one, Orin Darkhowl was basically trying to educate his readers on the history of the moon. He spoke about the different theories and mythologies about the gods and goddesses of the moon. And chapter two, is about the true identity of the moon and its significance to werewolves.” Thalia said. She let out a deep breath, then smiled sheepishly.“Hm.” Was the only thing Xander said then continued to s
Lyra's POV:I wasn't able to get the full information about the dinner Thalia had with the Blackstorms. But from the few things she shared, dinner went quite well. Her training starts today, so I need to get her up on time and prepare her for the training. When I got to her room she was nowhere to be found, I checked her bathroom and the balcony but she wasn't there.I was about to step out of the room to search for her in the garden when the door was pushed open and Thalia ran in with a book in her hand.“I got it.” She announced excitedly.“Where were you?” I asked in worry not caring about what she was talking about.“That's not important right now, I got the book Xander asked me to get. Clan vs Clans by Sable Stormbringer.” She replied.“You left your room without informing me because of a book. When you should be preparing for your training.” I scolded.“Don't start, I understand that what I did was reckless but I had no choice. I connected so well with Xander the other day that
Lyra's POV:“Be positive Milady, it's obviously just a way of making more money.” I said, trying to make her feel less agitated.“Do you probably know where he lives? I mean, have they ever made mention of where Sable Stormbringer lives?” Thalia asked.“Sable Stormbringer, has always been an anonymous writer.” I replied.“Does that me…” Thalia was cut short by the sound of someone knocking on the door.“Come in.” I invited the person in.The door was pushed open revealing a middle aged maid “Good Morning Milady. My name is Eadmon, I am the queen's personal maid. I was sent to call you to her outer chambers to start the training.” She introduced.“I believe in you.” I whispered into her ears.Thalia stood and made her way to the door, while I followed her closely behind.“Your maid won't be coming with us. That is the order from the queen.” Eadmon said.“But..” Thalia was about to argue.“It's fine, I believe in you Milady.” I said in my head bowed low. I watched as Eadmon led Thalia
Lyra's POV:Today happens to be Thalia's second day of training. I was able to get Xander's permission to go sightseeing around the village. It wasn't too hard anyways.FEW HOURS AGO:I made my way to Xander's fencing ground. Watching him fence was like seeing a Greek god battle with a mere mortal. He noticed my presence so he signaled for his fencing partner to stop by raising his hands up.He walked up to me while taking his fencing helmet. “Did Thalia send you to me?” He asked.“No, I came on my own accord.” I replied.“Is there something you wish to tell me? Or a favor you wish to ask for?” “Quite alike. I wish to patrol round the city just for fun. I will be back before the princess is done with her training.” I begged.“Are you aware that it is not allowed for a maid to leave the Blackstorm's mansion without a valid reason?” He asked. “So tell me, do you think your reason is valid enough for me to give you a pass?” He asked again before I could respond.“I believe it's not but
