Lyra's Point of View
Thalia took another sip of tea then started to narrate what I told her the day before, to Xander who was curious about what she had read in the book.
“You know.” She started. “I read somewhere that not many people know about werewolves. But Orin Darkhowl was a master at it. He knew many things about us, he even came up with several theories about our origin. And the Midnight Howl was the book that contained all his life's discoveries. I haven't read much though I only got the book yesterday after all. I am still in the first two chapters. But from what I read in chapter one, Orin Darkhowl was basically trying to educate his readers on the history of the moon. He spoke about the different theories and mythologies about the gods and goddesses of the moon.
And chapter two, is about the true identity of the moon and its significance to werewolves.” Thalia said. She let out a deep breath, then smiled sheepishly.
“Hm.” Was the only thing Xander said then continued to sip his tea.
“I have been meaning to ask. I am here to meet your parents and your siblings as well. Are they not around?” She asked, obviously trying to change the topic.
“They left on the same day you came. We had an event to attend some days ago at the royal palace. The King of Joaska personally invited the Blackstorm's. But I couldn't leave as you were arriving the same day.” He explained.
“Oh.” Thalia said, trying to hide her shy smile.
“Although they should have arrived the very next day, they decided to stay back after they got the message about your health.” He explained further.
“That's fair.” Thalia said.
“How hysterical, I was actually about to inform you that my parents will be coming back today alongside my younger brother Havoc, my elder sister Calista and her daughter Elara.” Xander revealed.
“What a coincidence!” Thalia exclaimed.
“Do you know much about the territorialization of the werewolf Clan?” Xander asked.
“Not really.” Thalia replied.
“Well you should get the book the next time you go to the library. You will enjoy it.” He assured her.
“What's the title?” She asked.
‘Clan vs Clans.’ I replied in my head, I have already read that book a trillion times. I just read the latest edition some weeks ago.
“Clan vs Clans by Sable Stormbringer.” He replied.
“So Thalia, if I am permitted to call your name?” He asked and Thalia nodded her head in response. “Okay then, I will be taking my leave. I have something important to handle. You should get back to your room.”
“Sure.” Thalia replied while bowing her head.
“I would escort you back but it would cost me a lot of time. I promise to do so next time.” He reassured her.
“That’s fine.” Thalia replied with a beaming smile.
They both stood up and exchanged their bows. Before Xander left he said. “We will have dinner in the hall tonight. Not in our respective rooms.” Then he left the garden.
“How do you feel?” I asked Thalia the moment Xander left the garden.
“He actually stayed back for me. He declined the King's invitation for me. I have never felt so happy in my life.”
“I am happy that you are happy Milady.” I said. “Let's get you back to the room and pick out clothes for your dinner with the Blackstorm's tonight.”
Xander's parents, siblings and niece had already arrived hours ago. Thalia was fast asleep, dinner was not until two hours later.
I laid down comfortably on my bed and brought out Orin’s book. I glanced around to see if any of the maids that were present were awake.
For the past few days I have been sleeping alone. Because every personal maid escorted their mistress to the King's event.
Right now Queen Celeste and Princess Calista’s personal maids were present in the room.
When I confirmed that they were in a deep sleep.
I covered myself with a duvet and turned on my medium-sized lantern.
I was planning on starting from chapter two because I only skimmed through it without giving myself enough time to comprehend Orin's theories.
I was walking through the corridors on my way to Thalia's room to prepare her for dinner. When I felt the presence of someone behind me. I turned around and pointed my lantern towards the direction but saw no one. So I continued walking, I was about to take a turn when I felt the presence again.
I took the turn and hid at a corner waiting to see if someone would pass.
“Ahhhhh!” A little girl screamed then fell to the ground.
I looked down at her. “Were you the one following me?” I asked her.
But she just kept on staring at me, I crouched down and took her legs into my arms.
“Did you sprain your ankle?” I asked why giving her ankles a light rub.
“You are uncle's wife right?” She asked.
“Uncle?” I asked in confusion. “What's your name child?” I asked.
“Elara.” She replied with a sheepish smile.
‘So she thinks that I am Thalia.’
“What are you doing here?” I asked.
“I couldn't sleep.” She replied.
“Why?”
“Because my mom is not with me. She keeps saying that I am a grown child and that I don't need her to be by my side to fall asleep.”
“Do you need her by your side to fall asleep?”
“I guess so.”
“Okay then, come with me. Why don't I introduce you to your aunty.”
I grabbed her by the arms and pulled her up.
“You are not my aunty?”
“No, I am just her maid.” I replied as I guided her steps through the corridor.
“I wish you were.” She said, with her lips pouted.
“You will love your aunty once you meet her. She is the sweetest.”
“Sweeter than you?”
“Yes Elara, she is sweeter than I am.”
I was occupied with selecting the best cloth Thalia could wear for dinner. The goal was to create a good first impression on her soon to be in-laws.
While, Thalia and Elara were engaging in a deep conversation.
“Do you love my uncle?” Elara asked.
“Yes I do.” Thalia replied.
“Do you know that he loves only one person in this world?”
“And who could that be?”
“Me. But I will let you have a place in his heart on one condition.”
“What's that?”
“If you beg my mom not to take me back to Croscov.” She replied.
“Is that where you are from?” Thalia asked.
“That's where my dad said I am from.” Elara replied.
“Why don't you want to go back home?” Thalia asked.
“Dad hates me.” Elara replied, causing me and Thalia to stare at each other.
Lyra's POV:I wasn't able to get the full information about the dinner Thalia had with the Blackstorms. But from the few things she shared, dinner went quite well. Her training starts today, so I need to get her up on time and prepare her for the training. When I got to her room she was nowhere to be found, I checked her bathroom and the balcony but she wasn't there.I was about to step out of the room to search for her in the garden when the door was pushed open and Thalia ran in with a book in her hand.“I got it.” She announced excitedly.“Where were you?” I asked in worry not caring about what she was talking about.“That's not important right now, I got the book Xander asked me to get. Clan vs Clans by Sable Stormbringer.” She replied.“You left your room without informing me because of a book. When you should be preparing for your training.” I scolded.“Don't start, I understand that what I did was reckless but I had no choice. I connected so well with Xander the other day that
Lyra's POV:“Be positive Milady, it's obviously just a way of making more money.” I said, trying to make her feel less agitated.“Do you probably know where he lives? I mean, have they ever made mention of where Sable Stormbringer lives?” Thalia asked.“Sable Stormbringer, has always been an anonymous writer.” I replied.“Does that me…” Thalia was cut short by the sound of someone knocking on the door.“Come in.” I invited the person in.The door was pushed open revealing a middle aged maid “Good Morning Milady. My name is Eadmon, I am the queen's personal maid. I was sent to call you to her outer chambers to start the training.” She introduced.“I believe in you.” I whispered into her ears.Thalia stood and made her way to the door, while I followed her closely behind.“Your maid won't be coming with us. That is the order from the queen.” Eadmon said.“But..” Thalia was about to argue.“It's fine, I believe in you Milady.” I said in my head bowed low. I watched as Eadmon led Thalia
Lyra's POV:Today happens to be Thalia's second day of training. I was able to get Xander's permission to go sightseeing around the village. It wasn't too hard anyways.FEW HOURS AGO:I made my way to Xander's fencing ground. Watching him fence was like seeing a Greek god battle with a mere mortal. He noticed my presence so he signaled for his fencing partner to stop by raising his hands up.He walked up to me while taking his fencing helmet. “Did Thalia send you to me?” He asked.“No, I came on my own accord.” I replied.“Is there something you wish to tell me? Or a favor you wish to ask for?” “Quite alike. I wish to patrol round the city just for fun. I will be back before the princess is done with her training.” I begged.“Are you aware that it is not allowed for a maid to leave the Blackstorm's mansion without a valid reason?” He asked. “So tell me, do you think your reason is valid enough for me to give you a pass?” He asked again before I could respond.“I believe it's not but
Lyra's POV:Returning to the Blackstorm's mansion, I was greeted with a sight.Men and women bustling about the compound all bearing flowers.‘Is there some kind of special occasion?’ I asked myself.I was trying to balance the bouquet of flowers on my hands. When someone suddenly bumped into me. “Can't you see.” I scolded, carefully balancing the bouquet. I looked up to see the face of the person that bumped into me.Unfortunately, the person was long gone. I could only see the back of the young man.I continued venturing inside the main building, I stopped when I noticed the familiar scent that hung on the air.It was the same ominous scent that hovered around that crazy old man that I met at the flower shop.I scanned the compound with my eyes in search of the old man.Since I couldn't find him I decided not to ponder on it for too long. I dropped the flowers with the Butler as ordered by Xander. Before I left the house, while handing the pouch of coins to me Xander said, “Drop
Lyra's POV:I wasn't able to continue the book because I was told that my presence would be needed in the Court Hall.Apparently the only maid allowed inside the Court Hall is the Personal maid of the Luna.Everything going on in the Court Hall must remain discreet and the only staff trusted with the information was, the Luna's maid.It turns out that I also have my own training as the Luna's maid. I must know certain things. My training would begin in a few days' time with Eadmon, Lady Blackstorm's personal maid.I was going through the garden on my way to the Court Hall when I stumbled upon a strange figure roaming around the rose farm. Since I couldn't see clearly from where I stood and the silhouette of the animal was that of a fox. I picked up a dry branch from the floor and quietly made my way towards the fox.I was shocked to see a Coyote nibbling on a rotten carrot. I raised up the branch in my hands in an attempt to scare it away but instead it looked up at me and stared dee
Lyra's POV:Lady Blackstorm lifted her hands up signifying that the two complainants should stop talking. She turned to face Thalia. “What do you think?” She asked. “Do you have anything to say about this matter?” She asked again.Thalia cleared her throat, taking a deep breath she said. “To be fair we cannot exactly hate or blame Severin for his actions. If there is one thing I have learnt about the Mating Bond, it's how irreversible and unbreakable it is. We all, at several instances have seen werewolves do the craziest things for their mates. But then you cannot overlook the fact that Isolde has a point, she has spent half of her lifetime growing with Severin although the man in question made no in-depth mistake he still needs to cater for his children. So therefore it would be unfair if nothing is given to Eliaa and Mattel.” Thalia suggested.“Hm.” Lady Blackstorm exclaimed while nodding her head. “So you are saying that Aria should be the one on the losing end?” She inquired.“No
Lyra's POV:It turns out that Xander was taking Thalia and I to a fencing ground. When we got there he already had Thalia's fencing uniform prepared. I assisted her in wearing while trying to avoid getting close to him.But all efforts seemed useless, after a few tries Thalia still couldn't get the hang of it. She took off her fencing helmet and tossed it alongside her fencing stick to the ground in anger. Then she stomped her feet on the ground angrily then made her way to a bench not too far away from the setting and sat down.Xander took off his helmet and said. “Why don't you watch me fence with someone else, while you take mental notes.” “You refused to come with anyone excluding I and Lyra, will you then fence with your shadow?” She said a bit annoyed.Xander let out a hearty chuckle then replied. “Your maid can fence. Am I right?” He asked out of the blue.“Yes she can, but how did you know?” Thalia asked, sitting up.“Just a hunch.” He said with a mischievous smirk on his f
Lyra's POV:“I am Clegane Bloodhowl.” At the mention of the name Clegane my feet came to a halt. “Son of Viscount Hawke Bloodhowl and Viscountess Vespera Bloodhowl.” He concluded his introduction. Why does this happen every single time? Every single time I decide to get close to someone it turns out to be impossible.First it was Talon Blackfang, then Xander Blackstorm and now it's Clegane Bloodhowl. Was I cursed to never find love?I looked up at Clegane, and stared deeply into his eyes. “I just recalled, Lady Blackstorm sent me to get some napkins for her. I got lost in the corridors and forgot myself.” I lied, trying to get out of his view.“Oh really, how
He shut the door and dipped his hands into his pocket, admiring our cozy home. I felt a chill run down my spine."I don't understand what's going on. What is he doing here?" I whispered to my friend, trying to make sense of the situation."Let's just hear him out." She replied calmly.I glared at him, who was still grinning at me. "So, this is what you do? Go around saving girls to get into their pants?"He didn't seem surprised by my words, for reasons best known to him."Layla, it's not like that." My friend said, touching my arm, trying to calm me down, but I was having none of it.“You're never going to stop, are you?" He shook his head, turning around to admire our home further."Imani, he has to leave.” I whispered urgently."What? It's raining heavily outside. Where do you want him to go?" She replied, defending him.I was shocked. "No... he can't stay here! I don't want him in this house, and that's final!"Her expression changed, and she lashed out at me. "And what makes you
Vince stepped into his apartment, greeted by the savory aroma of pizza.Imani sat on the kitchen counter, devouring a family-sized pie."Hey, babe! How was your meeting with Michael?" Imani asked, mouth full of pizza.Vince sighed, taking a seat next to her. "It was a disaster. He refused to listen to me, and now he's in denial."“What happened?" Imani asked, concerned.Vince recounted the entire ordeal, from him informing Michael about Sun Mi's true identity, that her parents were trying so hard to hide to Michael's refusal to believe him."...and then Michael told me to drop it, that I was being paranoid.” Vince concluded.Imani shook her head. "He's just scared, Vince. He'll come around once he realizes the truth."Vince nodded. "I know, but time is running out. Sun Mi's life is at stake and his as well. He might die from depression at this rate. It's been four years already, yet Michael is still grieving this hard.” He explained.Imani placed a hand on Vince's arm. "We'll figure i
Vince stepped into Michael's office, with a warm smile."What's good, my man?" Michael asked, flashing a bright smile."Not much, just trying to stay out of trouble," Vince replied, chuckling."Trouble? You? Nah, you're a straight shooter, Vince." Michael said, laughing out loud."Hey, watch it, I can get into some trouble if I want to." Vince jokes."Oh, I'm shakin' in my boots." Michael teased.Vince playfully rolled his eyes. "Anyway, enough about that. I got some serious business to discuss."Michael's expression suddenly became serious. "Okay, what's up?" He asked.Vince took a deep breath and began to narrate the whole story, starting from when he paused his speech to run after Jerry, only to bump into Mrs. Johnson."So, while I was about to give my speech during your grand opening in Seoul. I had seen you run out of the building, obviously annoyed, so I decided to run after you but I got lost in the hallways and I saw someone I never expected.I saw Jerry talking to a strange
Vince immediately ripped the box open, and they were met with a surprise. Inside, they found a packet of drugs, drips, syringes and a small paper containing instructions on when and how the drugs should be taken."What the hell is this?" Vince asked, puzzled.Bunker shook his head. "I don't know, but I can find the contact of a doctor or nurse, or at least a friend of mine that works in a hospital, they must know what these drugs are used for." He suggested.“Sure let's go with that.” Vince responded.Bunker made himself comfortable on his rusty cushion and picked up his laptop from the side table and turned it on.He scrolled through the laptop a few times before he announced joyfully. “I found someone's contact on the net, but she is not allowed to give out certain information except in crucial situations.” He explained.“So how do we go about this?” Vince asked.“Well, we will just have to put on a good show.” Bunker replied as dialed the number and the person picked up after the t
Sun Mi sat at the edge of her bed, sipping her coffee and staring out the window. She had been having the strangest dreams ever since she returned to America. Every night, it was the same thing - she would see herself in a different scenario, but the faces of the people around her were always blurry. Except for hers, she could see her own face clearly, but everyone else's was a blur.Jerry walked into the room, carrying a bunch of grocery bags. "Hey, good morning!" He said, setting the bags down on the counter. "I brought breakfast."Sun Mi smiled, she was grateful for the distraction. "Thanks, Jerry. You're a lifesaver."As Jerry started setting the table, he noticed that Sun Mi looked a bit off. "Hey, is everything okay?" he asked, concern marred on his face. "You look like you've lost your last marble."Sun Mi sighed, rubbing her temples. "I don't know, Jerry. I just can't shake off these weird dreams I've been having. And the weirdest part is, I can only see my own face. Everyone
Sun Mi slept peacefully in her hotel room, her facial mask placed on her face as usual . She was exhausted from the long flight and the events of the day. As she drifted off to sleep, she began to dream. In her dream, she saw two men in a car, speeding down the road. They were laughing and playing loud music, oblivious to the road ahead. Sun Mi's heart raced as she saw herself running into the road, trying to get to the other side. She tried to scream, but her voice was muffled. The car screeched to a halt just inches from her face. Sun Mi's heart skipped a beat as she saw the two men staring at her in shock. One of them looked like he had seen a ghost. The other was grinning from ear to ear."Is she alive?" The second guy whispered."We should take her to the hospital.” The first guy suggested, his eyes fixed on Sun Mi's face.Sun Mi felt a jolt of fear as the first guy approached her. He was handsome, but there was something strange about him. She tried to move away, but her body fe
Vince's mind was racing as he sat back in the airplane seat room, staring at the footage Travis had sent him. The grainy video showed Mrs. Johnson arguing with the masked Sun Mi backstage at a runway show. Vince's eyes narrowed as he watched the video again, this time paying closer attention to the body language of the two women."I think Sun Mi might be Layla.” Vince whispered to Imani, who was sleeping beside him. Imani's eyes snapped open, and she sat up straight, her eyes locking onto Vince's."What? Why do you think that?" Imani asked her with her eyes wide open in shock.Vince showed her the footage, and Imani's eyes widened as she watched."This is getting juicier by the minute," Vince said, his eyes locked onto Imani's. "I think we need to dig deeper."Imani nodded in agreement, then asked . "Are you sure about this?”Vince nodded. “I am not a hundred percent sure that Sun Mi and Layla are one and the same person. It's only a hunch and my intuition is never wrong.” He said, gr
As the plane soared through the skies, Michael, Sun Mi, Carol, Jerry, Imani, Vince, Mrs Brown and other business partners settled into their seats, exhausted from the events of the past few days.In business class, Jerry and Sun Mi chatted quietly, their conversation carrying over to where Michael sat."So, what was it like dancing with Michael?" Jerry asked, his eyes sparkled with curiosity.Sun Mi shrugged. "It was nothing special. Just a dance.”She said with a nonchalant expression.“Are you sure? Your heart did not flutter or skip a beat when he placed his hands on your waist?” He inquired.“Was it meant to?” She clapped back.Michael felt a pang of hurt listening to her words.“Why do I feel this way? I should be happy, this is what I wanted after all.” Michael said, trying so hard to convince himself. He decided to push his emotions aside, trying to focus on preparing for the conference call he would have in a few hours time.IN THE FIRST CLASS:Vince was on a mission, he neede
The event had long ended and every guest had gone to their respective homes or hotel rooms. Michael stepped out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist, while he made use of a smaller towel to wipe out the beads of water on his body. When he was done he sat down at the edge of the bed and began to think about everything that went down today during the grand opening. From being rude to Senator Bong Won Yun, because he had belittled Sun Mi. To actually listening to Imani and asking Sun Mi for a dance and finally finding it hard to say that he doesn't care about her.He couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt that had been weighing on him since Imani's words. He couldn't believe he was developing feelings for Sun Mi, especially after being responsible for Layla's death. He started questioning his own morality and wondered why he was capable of loving anyone else.“Michael, you need to forget about the past and move on.” Imani had said, but it was easier said than done.~~
