After making sure Draven had left, I stepped out of the bathroom, a very strong ache between my legs consuming me. He had hurt me, and I wanted him to feel the pain of being ignored. Minutes after dressing, I invited Mason, Davis, Caleb, and Jones over. Those four had become my closest friends; after all, I had no interest in befriending unmated she-wolves in the pack.

Small talks were enough; rarely did I engage in a long conversation with any of them. I still performed my duties as their Luna diligently, though; it was a repeat of what happened with Nova, which I was avoiding. "Are you okay?" That was the first thing Mason asked when he arrived to find me seated in the backyard, a glass of red wine in my hand.

"Of course, where are the others?" I tried to avert attention from myself.

"Somewhere on their way. Seriously, Mel, is the issue about Gwen still troubling you?" He didn't know when to stop, especially not when I was struggling to offer a genuine smile.
