03) Mate?

When I woke up again I felt very refreshed. I felt every tear in my muscles and every fracture in my bones had been repaired. There were no improperly healed parts left in my body to cause me pain later and I felt much healthier.

It was like I've never worked in my life before and never even had a broken bone or torn up flesh since birth.

I knew what my healing abilities could do... But this goes up to another level. Without at least two days of rest (which I would never have), this would be impossible.

So... what's going on with my body? What happened with Alpha Midnight after I passed out? Where am I-

"Finally!! You're awake!!!" A very familiar voice exclaimed, disturbing my line of thoughts.

"I was so worried, Eva. You had a high fever for two days straight!!" He announced as his pretty figure entered into my view.

'Two days?'

"You were unconscious for two days and two nights. The doctor said that you're doing fine. But, I didn't know what to do... I even attacked your alpha..." As if he understood my confusion, he confessed like a guilty little boy and held up a cup of water for me to drink.

I didn't know what to say or how to react. So I just stayed silent and examined his concerned figure.

He was a brunette with a pair of enchanting blue eyes with long lashes, perfectly plumped lips, small nose, smoothly rounded forehead and an angular jawline. Compared to other alphas I've seen so far, he had a small frame alongside those soft facial features making him more feminine than masculine. And it helped me to stay calm and lower my guard a little bit. 

However, the aura he extruded as an alpha wasn't something feminine or soft. It was powerful and domineering. So I didn't dare to act as freely as I would when I'm alone either.

"Anyway, enough of my talking. How are you feeling now?" He asked softly, putting the empty glass away.

"Refreshed?" I mumbled uncertainly because I still hadn't digested the situation I'm in fully.

Just a few days ago I was just a mere slave for goddess's sake! And now... an alpha who is NOT my mate is nursing me!! 

How on earth am I supposed to feel about that?!

"That's good. But you need to rest a few more days. After that bastard's son's crowning ceremony is finished, I'm going to take you home. 'Till then you can rest here... I'll go to my beta's room." 

"Home? But alpha... this is my home..." I whispered slowly and fearfully not wanting to anger him since that was the first thing my mind registered from his speech.

"First, don't call me alpha. I'm your brother now. Second, this hellhole isn't your home. I felt your hatred towards these pack members the moment you cried in front of a stranger like me." He reminded me in a stern voice.

"I- I'm-" I started to protest but seeing his persistent eyes, I gave up.

"Okay, Az."

The next couple of days Az demanded that I should stay in his room and rest 'till my body is fully recovered. He didn't believe that it had already recovered and healed since my wolf hadn't awakened yet. 

So, I had to follow his 'orders' and bed rest as if I'm some kind of a princess.

However, since I wasn't used to that kind of lifestyle, I sneaked into my old 'room' to check if my valuables were intact and then get on with my usual daily chores.

"Oh, the little slut is here!!" The head omega's ear piercing voice rang through the kitchen the moment I stepped in.

"How was Alpha Midnight's bed? Since you were absent for days, I suppose it was great, right?" She snickered, checking me from head to toes.

"She looks healthier. I guess it was all thanks to Alpha Midnight's hard work..." Another omega chimed in.

But, instead of feeling horrified by their false accusations I felt my blood boiling in anger and possessiveness. 

Those feelings were all new to me and I didn't understand where they're generating from. But I knew that I wasn't ready to let them badmouth about Alpha Midnight with such disgusting words.

It was okay if they badmouth me and call me whatever. But dragging Az's name into those disgusting accusations was NOT something I was ready to let go that easily. 

"Do NOT get him involved in your wild imaginations! He is NOT someone like that and we definitely did NOT share a bed!! Stop spouting nonsense!!!" I talked back for the first time in my life, surprising both myself and them.

"Oh, my... It seems like your health is not the only one that has grown." The head omega commented earning a laugh from her sidekick.

"We'll see what else has grown within these few days..." She smirked evilly and jumped on me before I even had the chance to register her words.

Since I've always been small and weak like a human, I never held any chance against even an omega. So when her body collided with mine, we both fell onto the floor.

"You should know by now that talking back doesn't go unpunished." She growled pinning me to the floor with her body and hitting my cheeks as hard as she could.

It successfully shut my mouth up as I struggled to avoid her hits. But to my utter dismay, her sidekick also joined in, helping her to pin me down as she continued throwing punches at my body. After the head omega was satisfied with the work she had done, they both got up and continued kicking. 

However, I didn't make any sound of pain even though I was losing my breath and gasping for air. Red dots clouded my vision as my consciousness slipped in and out from time to time.

"You dared to talk back? Heh, keep that up bitch!!" The head omega snarled as another blow landed on my spine very hard making my whole body go numb. But I didn't feel any regret for doing what I did. 

As long as I know that talking back is the right thing, I would do it again and again and again if they didn't kill me now.

"WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING OMEGAS?" Before another kick landed on me a familiar voice boomed across the kitchen.

"Alpha! We... We're teaching this slave a lesson..." The head omega explained submissively in a voice completely contrasted with the one she talked to me before.

"Slave?" As he questions, I felt his powerful aura shifting drastically into a murderous one.

"We- I- It's- We-" They stuttered like hens who are trying to lay eggs. But I felt that alpha approaching me instead of going for them, making my panic flare up.

"You reek of Aziel's scent." He growled angrily into my ear before trying to pick me up.

"Eva! What happened?!" To my utter happiness, Az's panicked voice rang through the kitchen and the next moment, I felt myself lifted up carefully.

At the same time, the other alpha, Alpha Nightwalker_I suppose, growled at him warningly. But Az didn't pay any attention to him. 

"I'll deal with you two later." He warned the omegas before he strode out with my collapsing body in his arms.

After that incident, Az's warriors stood on guard 24/7 outside his- my new room shooing the Redmoon pack members away. 

They weren't allowed to see me or treat me as a slave or an omega any longer after Az officially announced me as his younger sister. Right after that, he accepted me into his pack, threatening Redmoon Alpha that if he didn't agree to let me go, he would wipe away this whole pack within the next couple of hours. 

I wasn't sure whether that's how it works, but I knew as a powerful alpha_the second most powerful one to be precise, making that threat a reality wasn't something impossible for him. I guess Alpha Redmoon also knew that very well.

But the day before the crowning ceremony as everyone worked running here and there, I also felt the need to go outside and walk in the moonlight as a free, high ranked lady.

That feeling and walking in the moonlight both felt so refreshing, yet very alien.

"It's time." Suddenly the female voice whispered into my ear as something inside of me clicked into place. 

But before I could react to any of that, I heard the most unexpected words brushing past my ears.

"Mate!"
