Kidnapped by the Demon who slaughtered her pack, Seraphine Lowell was raised as a Hellhound, rather than a werewolf. Sera assumed her fated mate had died with the others, but while on a job with her Demonic Master, she discovers the truth. True love really is on the cards for Seraphine, and it involves an Alpha who is ready to literally go to Hell and back to save her. Will Seraphine be able to break free from the Duke of Hell who holds her leash? Or will her mate be forced to serve in the Hellish legion alongside her? This is a tale of love, betrayal and demons vs werewolves.

Hellhound
My skin hissed against the silver blade pressed against my throat. The searing pain brought tears to my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. I couldn’t cry - not when I was seeing my fated mate for the first time. I didn’t even know his name, but I felt that invisible thread weave itself around my heart and tighten when he stepped closer.
His ice-blue eyes betrayed no emotion, especially in his wolf form. Even though he was larger than any wolf I had ever seen, with pitch dark fur, he blended with the shadows seamlessly. My mate was drinking in every tiny detail of not just me, but the demon holding a knife to my neck...
Valefar; the demon who had slaughtered my pack and raised me to be his own personal Hellhound. I could see that my mate wanted nothing more than to claw Valefar’s heart out of his chest, but if even one whisker twitched, Valefar would end my life in an instant.
“That’s it,” Valefar’s shrill voice sounded utterly delighted. “Stay where you are and no one gets hurt.” His warm blood painted my platinum hair black. A demon’s blood was thick, hot and sticky - not that I had seen much of it despite living in Hell. Making a demon bleed was a near-impossible feat, yet my mate had almost killed him effortlessly.
Unfortunately, when Valefar figured out he couldn’t win the fight fairly, he scrambled towards me. I never imagined that he’d take me hostage. I knew what Valefar was capable of - I knew what he had done to my pack when I was three years old, but he had never hurt me physically before.
“Let my Luna go,” the wolf growled in a husky voice that was neither human nor beast, and yet both at the same time.
“Oh, I will,” Valefar chuckled and pressed the knife against my neck harder. Wisps of steam rose into the moonlight as my flesh burned. “Once we’re safely back in my domain.”
“My Luna stays here,” the wolf demanded.
“Your ‘Luna’ comes with me, or she dies,” Valefar left no room for argument.
I wished I could have done something - anything - to throw the demon off of me. Valefar had taken precautions against his own Hellhounds. Infernal iron cuffs weighed down my wrists, with enchanted runes carved into them. They were meant to control me, so I could only shift on Valefar’s command and that I could never lay a claw nor fang on him.
I was helpless and pathetic and I had failed my mate, who continued to growl at Valefar. The demon had won and Valefar knew it. While my mate was paralyzed for my sake, licks of flame began to sprout from the Earth in a circle around the demon and me. The wolf glanced at the hellfire then locked eyes with me, understanding he only had a few seconds before I was ripped away from him.
“Renrik,” he whispered. “My name is Renrik Duskborne,” his voice grew louder - fearless and voracious. Valefar might have won the fight through underhanded tactics, but Renrik’s will would remain unbroken. “And I will crash the gates of Hell to win you back, my Luna!”
Oh no. That promise was enough to push my tears over the edge and the first droplets fell down my cheeks. “Seraphine Lowell,” I whispered my name back to him, but the pain crippled my voice. I had to believe he’d heard it. I had to have hope that his promise wouldn’t be empty and that he’d be purring my name to himself as he truly breached Hell for me.
A second later I could taste ashes on my tongue and my lungs were flooded with smoke. Valefar’s hellfire had engulfed us and dragged us beneath the Surface, back into the barren courtyard of his manor in Hell. Valefar shoved me to the ground and nearly collapsed himself.
His blonde hair was virtually black thanks to the head wound he endured from Renrik. His violet eyes were wide and full of fear - something I had never seen in Valefar before. When he noticed my staring, his lips thinned and stretched into a twisted grin.
“Don’t get too attached to Mr. Duskborne. He’ll be dead by the end of the week.”
I bowed my head as I knelt in the bone-dry sand. I managed not to flinch when Valefar came and placed his injured hand on my hair, giving me a gentle pet. “Oh, Sera,” he whispered, almost sounding regretful as he shortened my name. “My blood has stained your beautiful, silvery hair.” His palm moved down to cup my cheek and force my face up to look at him. “And your golden eyes look so sad.” He sighed. “Take a bath,” Valefar pushed my face away from him and turned his back to me.
As he fixed his torn clothes, he shook his head and said, “It seems as though I can’t take you to the surface with me anymore. For a while, at least. I can’t stand having a useless Hellhound, though.” I could practically hear the cogs of his mind turning; churning through ideas on what to do with me.
Valefar’s shoulders sagged. “I was hoping to save this for when you were older and less useful in a fight, but it’s best that I start breeding you for my next batch of flawless Hellhounds now.”
“W-what?!”
Valefar didn’t answer me. He clicked his fingers, summoning the usual imps who fulfilled his whims. He muttered something to them while I sat there utterly dazed, repeating his words in my head over and over. He was going to breed me. He was going to reduce me to nothing more than a womb and have me pump out pup after pup from various Hellhounds.
Valefar walked off into the mansion without looking back.
The imps gathered around, coaxing me onto my feet, buzzing with excitement about my future as Valefar’s prized pet. I couldn’t bring myself to share in their enthusiasm. Who would want that kind of life? What was going to happen to me?
Chapter 7 Duskborne(Seraphine’s POV)“The Duskborne family,” Diana had laid herself down on my bed and folded her arms behind her head. “They’re old blood. Like, old, old blood.”“Okay?” Amber and I eyed each other, intrigued but confused.“I heard stories of them back when I was a kid on the Surface. Ask the older Hellhounds here and they’ll tell you the same thing I will. The Duskbornes are selfish monsters.” There was a flicker of a smile on Diana’s lips. She enjoyed slandering my mate; jealous, most likely. I didn’t dwell on her bitterness and at first, I didn’t take her words seriously.Amber furrowed her brow, giving Diana a look that silently told her to behave herself. “What are you talking about?”“Amber, have you ever heard of the Veilrend pack?” Diana stayed lying down, her head facing my friend.“Veil-rend? Uh,” She rubbed her chin as she turned the name over her tongue. “Oh! Yes! I… I have...” Her excitement over remembering immediately gave way to uncertainty as her ga
Chapter 5Demon Vs Werewolf“We haven’t crossed paths before,” the wolf - Renrik, now that I know his name, spoke assuredly as he began to walk a wide circle around myself and Valefar. “If we had, you wouldn’t have walked away breathing.”“How stereotypically werewolf of you. So violent, even though you insist you don’t know me.” Valefar brushed his blonde bangs off of his face and sighed. “However, I admit it. I don’t recognize your voice, now that I’ve heard more of it. You do remind me of someone, though. Bah, but a lot of you wolves look and sound the same. I’ve killed so many of you over the years, it’s hard to recall who I might be thinking of…”The demon was playing with Renrik, trying to coax a savage reaction out of him. Renrik wasn’t a fool; he didn’t take the ba
Chapter 4The Price of Loyalty - Part TwoI was just as confused and concerned as Valefar was. Nothing like that had ever happened to me before. I had no explanation for why I lit up like a pretty beacon, but I could hazard an educated guess. When the light streamed from me, I felt that feral magnetism again. The tether to my fated mate had strengthened and the release of light felt like a desperate signal to him. Going to the Surface, being on the same plane as Renrik, meant that everything Hell had been suppressing since I turned eighteen, burst out of me in a glorious light show. That beam of light really was a beacon for Renrik to find me.I didn’t voice my theories to Valefar. I parted my lips and shrugged at him innocently. “I didn’t do anything deliberately,” and I wasn’t lying. “Sorry, Master.”“You’ve been acting so weird since your birthday,” Valefar grumbled and fixed his collar, ever obsessed with his image. When he turned away, I managed to catch what he added under his b
Chapter 3The Price of Loyalty - Part One“I saw the state Valefar returned home in,” Diana Warfur seethed. “Battered, bruised, bleeding! Why didn’t you protect him?! Your sole purpose up on the Surface is to protect our Master!” Diana yelled, spit flecking at my face and for a split second I thought she was going to hit me again.“I tried,” I rasped.“Liar!”“I’m not lying! Do you even know what happened on the Surface?” My building rage finally got the better of me and I shouted back at her. “Have you even spoken to Valefar, or are you just making up your own stories?! Sit down, Diana, and I’ll tell you exactly what happened to your precious Master.”Diana stepped back. She still looked ready to rip me to shreds, but at least some part of her wanted to hear me out.I decided to push my luck a little. “I want to tell Amber what happened as well,”“I’m not waiting for you to gather an audience, Sera!” Diana’s hand launched towards me and she grabbed a fistful of my t-shirt. Her perfec
Chapter 2The BondAfter the imps scrubbed me clean, they told me I could soak for as long as I liked. I took them up on that offer, if only so I could be left alone, to conquer the swirling blizzard of thoughts and emotions inside.I sank beneath the hot, milky water in hopes it would soothe me. It was deep enough for me to float; for my body to feel suspended in time and freed on a spiritual level. It would only last for as long as I could hold my breath, but I savored every second of being one with the water.A lot had happened in the span of a month. My birthday was early April, and this year happened to be when I turned eighteen. It was that day when everything changed. In the early hours of the morning, I woke up and was overwhelmed by an intense sensation. It started in my chest, as though something within was trying to crack my ribs open and claw its way to freedom. Then it quickly spread through my veins, clouding any coherent thought in my head and making every nerve in my b
