Freya's P.O.V "Cameron!" I whispered urgently, looking around the room wide eyed to see if anyone had witnessed our exchange right then. Thankfully, everyone was minding their own business and I was officially safe from further embarrassment. "Yes?" Cameron grinned down at me unashamed. I swatted his hand away from my lips and swallowed the bite of egg that I had taken previously. "You seriously have no remorse!" I glared at him. "Not when it comes to you." His smile stayed the same. "Happy eighteenth birthday." Frowning, I looked towards the wall where there was a large wooden clock to see that it was only eight thirty in the evening. "There's still time." "I know. I just wanted to be the first person to wish you." That statement alone had my heart melting all over again. "Thank you." "Now finish up," he said, pointing to the plate of food. "Th
Cameron's P.O.V My eyes fluttered open as the sunlight hit my face. At first, I didn't have any clue as to what was happening. Why was I lying outside the pack-house? That too on the floor and in the open? What on earth was going on? And then flashes from last night came to mind. Of the party…I was dancing with Freya…and then the guards came to warn us…the fog! "Freya!" I whispered hoarsely, sitting up on the floor. But what I saw all around me had my blood freezing in my veins. My packmates, my friends, my parents…they were all lying on the ground beside me, unmoving and unconscious. "Mom! Dad!" I crawled over to them as fast as I could, checking to see if they were still breathing. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw their chests moving ever so slowly. "Mom! Dad!" I shook them this time, trying to wake them up. "Cam?" My father was the first to open his eyes. "Wh-what's going on?" &qu
Freya's P.O.V "Maggie?" I looked at her incredulously. "What are you doing? Why are you here?" "Wouldn't you want to know?" Maggie gave me a smile that was just…off. "But not to worry, we have plenty of time to catch up on our chit-chat. First, change out of that gown if you want it to be intact by the end of all this." "Maggie! What is even going on?" I snapped at her. "What exactly is 'all this'? What are you even doing here? And what does Mrs. Kovac have to do with anything?" Maggie threw back her head and laughed. "Mrs. Kovac-Esmeralda is my aunt and the future Crone of the coven. She has promised my entry back into the coven, once I brought you over. Do you have any idea how long I've waited for you?" "What on earth are you going on about?" I snapped at her once again, holding on to my temper via a thread of patience. "You think talking in riddles is making you look c
Cameron's P.O.V "How could this have happened?" My father slammed his fists against the wooden table, causing a dent in it. I'd never seen him have outbursts like this before, but even I was just as furious as him today, maybe even more. We had taken all precautions possible! We had set up guards! We had the Amethyst coven bloody set up magic shields to not let any other witch enter into the pack-house! Then how? How could they so easily take away Freya? How could all of our guards, the witches, and even all of us wolves become sitting ducks while Freya was abducted? "We had everything in place!" My father said now, reflect my earlier thoughts. "The security was air-tight!" "Magic cannot be stopped physically." Sanaya spoke from her seat. "The fog couldn't enter the pack-house, so they lured us out." "But I was right next to Freya!" Sarah managed to stutter out. "But I couldn't sense her at a
Freya's P.O.V Freya…Freya… Who was it? Who was calling me? The voice sounded so familiar. So close…yet so distant… Freya… A hand brushed over my forehead, jolting me awake…and I opened my eyes to my mother's face looming over me. "Mom?" I sat up quickly, startled and afraid; but there was no blood falling from her cheeks today. Her face was the same as I remembered from my childhood; beautiful and kind. And she was smiling at me. We were in our backyard, in our old house. It was before our house turned into a place of ruin. The old oak tree at the very end of our fence was still green and shady and the afternoon sun was warm on my face as a cool breeze blew through the flowering gardens that my mother used to maintain all by herself. I was still wearing the gown from the party, so I was glad that my mom could see a prettier version of me. Mom on the other hand, wore her favourite floral red and white dress that my dad had gifted
Cameron's P.O.V "We need to find a way to get Freya back!" I told the witches and my father. "There is no way that I'm letting them take away her magic so they can take her life! We have to save her!" "Son, we're all trying-" "Trying?" I snapped at my father, my Alpha, cutting him off. "All we are doing is sitting inside a room and chatting around merrily while my 'mate' is out there, god knows in what condition! Would you be 'trying' if this was mom in Freya's place?" "Cameron!" My father growled at me, the sound fierce as it echoed around the room. My wolf whined inside my head, because even though I was the future Alpha, my powers were nowhere near as dominant as his. But still I didn't back down. My mate was in danger. And I was done sitting around! "Calm down, both of you! Arguing amongst ourselves will only waste more time, especially when we have no clue where to look for Freya i
Freya's P.O.V "My coven just used me to get to you," Maggie's voice sounded lifeless. "They told me they'll extract your magic and give it to me, to make me powerful…but now my great-grandmother told me that I helped them for the greater good. That it was my duty to those who had brought me up…fed me and nourished me till I turned eighteen…and that was it…" I didn't like the way it sounded. Maggie's great-grandmother sounded like a dick, but that wasn't my concern. I didn't like the way Maggie's eyes looked so dead…as if she was exhausted inside. "She said it like it was my fault for being born into the coven…" Maggie looked up into my eyes then and my heart thrashed against my ribcage in fear. There was just something off about her expression that I couldn't pinpoint. "I was thrown out of my own coven; my own parents didn't want me anymore…all because I was the spare. But then that demon they hired to try to find you…when he failed
Freya's P.O.V The hallways seemed to stretch on forever as I walked past several wooden doors, all with their own intricate detailing. The pictures were all of the supernatural world, of wolves and witches. Women gathered around a cauldron and wolves howling at the moon. At one of walls, hung a tapestry where there was a woven picture of what I assumed was the Moon Goddess. A woman stood in front of the full moon, her white hair blowing back in the wind and her robe took up most of the picture. And at the bottom of them were wolves. They were all looking up at the Goddess in awe, whose ethereal beauty could be seen even through the painting. I knew I was distracting myself from my impending doom by focusing on thing that were probably irrelevant. Maggie and Esmeralda walked on either side of me, guiding me to where the 'ceremonial hall' was. The Chrone, the head of the coven and the twin sister to my mother's grandmother, was waiting to perform her ceremony. She
