As I walked through the school gates the next day, the familiar hum of chatter and laughter faded into the background. I could feel the eyes of my classmates lingering on me, drawn to the remnants of the skirmish that had left me with a few cuts and bruises. Despite my attempts to conceal them beneath long sleeves and careful arrangement of my hair, the evidence of the fight with Krimson was unmistakable.

Del was the first to notice, his concern evident in the furrow of his brow and the worried look in his eyes. He approached me, a mix of worry and curiosity painted across his face. But as he tried to touch the bruise on my cheek, I flinched back, not wanting him to touch me at that moment.

I appreciated his concern, his genuine care for my well-being, but I wasn't ready to share the whole story, not yet. Especially when it could lead to the revelation that Krimson was my mate.
