Mirage's P.O.V The next morning, Alex and I were rushing to Julian's room to find Freya and Cameron already there waiting for Daisy to show up. "What happened to Julian?" Alex's voice was sharp but I saw the strain in his jaw as he looked down at the little guy who was passed out on the bed, a wet cloth on his forehead as he sweated enough to soak his own clothes. "He's running a very high fever." Cameron answered us as Freya desperately tried to get his fever down. "We've been trying for a while now, but his fever just won't come down." "Get the ice bath ready." We turned to face the door and found Daisy entering the room followed by Dr. Shaw, the one who was more specialized to treat humans. "Daisy." Freya made way for the healer as she sat at the edge of the bed and began taking Julian's vitals. "I'll get the ice bath ready." Freya disappeared into the bathroom to get the water insi
Mirage's P.O.V "You're thinking of being the bait?" Alpha Charles frowned at me as we all sat in his office, discussing the best plan of action. "It's the best option we have." I told him now. "If I can turn myself in, in return for the antidote of whatever he did to Julian-" "I think you have to consider the fact that whatever the vampire and the witch did to Julian might not even have a cure." Coming from Freya herself, I was a bit startled at the roughness of her voice. "Not all magic has a cure. Sometimes the disease or the curse can be directly linked to the witch's life. So don't throw away your life until we have some kind of confirmation." "Freya is right." Alpha Charles nodded. "We have to wait for a confirmation. If it was Alistair who had put that spell on Julian via a witch, then it won't be long before he contacts us. And if he wants you that desperately, then we have to let him come t
Mirage's P.O.V The Supernatural Council consisted of ten species that represented the major races present on the earth. They were not permanent members as they got voted to be on the seats for only three years before being replaced by another member. However, this was only the case for majorly populated species like the wolves and a few other shifters. For today's meeting, I was only going to be talking to a werewolf representative, the Fae Queen and the Vampire Queen. Since the other Council members didn't have anything to do with the case, they would only intervene if I requested their help for a fair judgment, otherwise, the three of them will be the only people that I would need to deal with. It was surprising to even Alpha Charles and the members of the council at the fact that the Fae Queen had actually decided to take part in the council meeting. They are the most elusive of all the members and usually tend to stay away from any kind of politics or trouble. But
Mirage's P.O.V "Hello, grandmother." There was nothing pleasant about the way I addressed her and from the way she winced at me ditching the formalities, I knew this was going to be one difficult chat. "I'll give the two of you some privacy." Alpha Charles got up from the chair and motioned for the boys. The three of them left soon after and then, it was just me and her…the woman I had wanted to see at least once in my lifetime so I could understand the reason why she abandoned her children like he meant nothing to her at all. "You're not Fae by blood." She spoke harshly as soon as the coast was clear. "I don't think you have t-" I raised my hand and opened my palm to the bright rays of light that showed my Fae powers clearly. The Fae Queen gasped out loud, surprise clear in her face. "You lied to the Council?" "No," I told her firmly. "I protected my secrets from someone who could've b
Mirage's P.O.V It wasn't until it was late at night, when I was fast asleep in Alex's arms that things began to go south. The dream started out normal, with me strolling through the forests, enjoying the chirping of the wild birds and the odd noises of the insects as I walked between the tall forest giants, their canopies stretching so far up that I couldn't even see the top. But even in the commotion of the different wild creatures in the forest, it was peaceful…beautiful. A few rays of sunlight managed to penetrate the canopy and land on the forest floor, making the leaves shine with a golden hue. The early morning dew drops shore like diamonds and as I walked barefoot on the grass, my feet felt wet. It was such a wonderful, freeing feeling. A movement in front of me caught my eyes and as I watched, a large grey wolf with white patches came into view, its fur shining in the sunlight as it hit its skin at an angle. "Alex!" Joy bubbled inside my
Mirage's P.O.V I sprang up into a sitting position, covered in sweat and my mind swimming in panic, that was until I saw Alex's green eyes groggy with sleep, as he too sat up in bed next to me. "Mirage?" He squinted his eyes, rubbing at his face with his hands. "What's wrong? Are you alright?" "Alex!" Getting out of the covers, I straddled his hips and wrapping an arm around his neck, crashed my lips onto his. A groan escaped his lips as his hand came up behind me to support my head as my kiss got feverent, desperate. I was afraid that it was going to make him weary, but it didn't take long before he returned the kiss with just as much desperation, his free arm wrapping around my waist to pull me even closer to him. Was he able to feel my desperate need to have him closer? To make sure that he was still beside me and not dust on the wind like the nightmare I just had? Could he tell that I was about ready to lose my mind out of
Mirage's P.O.V "No, I'm gonna try again!" I told her firmly. Just like Freya taught me, I tried to concentrate on the air around me, on the natural flow of energy of the earth. Witchcraft and Fae magic, both were based on the conversion of energy from one form to another. So I concentrated on the air, the wind energy around me and started the conversion. My brows furrowed in concentration as I felt perspiration bead my forehead. The small sparks of light that appeared out of thin air made me want to huff in relief, but it wasn't a win until I could turn it into a ball of light with the same energy as the sun. It was the only way I could defeat a vampire. The sparks increased, started forming in the shape of a crescent…slowly getting bigger and bigger and… The ball of light disappeared as I lost the threat of power that I had been desperately holding on to. "Fucking hell!" I cursed at the walls as sweat dripped down my nose. "
Mirage's P.O.V The next morning, I went to Julian's room alone to pay him a visit. Julian's fever had gone down after Freya used her magic to keep the black magic in check, but that was probably the only reason he was still stable. He hadn't woken up or shown any response to external stimuli ever since that day and with every hour that passed without him waking up, Daisy worried that it was only worsening his condition. To say that I was worried about him would be an understatement. The big, blue eyed little boy, who had seemed to have an adorable crush on me, had been the first person in this pack, aside from Alex and Daisy, to actually try to make friends with me. And even though he was far too young, his friendship had been very much welcome. I miss his shy smiles whenever he saw me and the way he would give me a kiss on the cheeks just to get even with Alex. And even though he hadn't known then that the flowers that he had gotten me had been poisoned, I had
