Mirage's P.O.V I sprang up into a sitting position, covered in sweat and my mind swimming in panic, that was until I saw Alex's green eyes groggy with sleep, as he too sat up in bed next to me. "Mirage?" He squinted his eyes, rubbing at his face with his hands. "What's wrong? Are you alright?" "Alex!" Getting out of the covers, I straddled his hips and wrapping an arm around his neck, crashed my lips onto his. A groan escaped his lips as his hand came up behind me to support my head as my kiss got feverent, desperate. I was afraid that it was going to make him weary, but it didn't take long before he returned the kiss with just as much desperation, his free arm wrapping around my waist to pull me even closer to him. Was he able to feel my desperate need to have him closer? To make sure that he was still beside me and not dust on the wind like the nightmare I just had? Could he tell that I was about ready to lose my mind out of
Mirage's P.O.V "No, I'm gonna try again!" I told her firmly. Just like Freya taught me, I tried to concentrate on the air around me, on the natural flow of energy of the earth. Witchcraft and Fae magic, both were based on the conversion of energy from one form to another. So I concentrated on the air, the wind energy around me and started the conversion. My brows furrowed in concentration as I felt perspiration bead my forehead. The small sparks of light that appeared out of thin air made me want to huff in relief, but it wasn't a win until I could turn it into a ball of light with the same energy as the sun. It was the only way I could defeat a vampire. The sparks increased, started forming in the shape of a crescent…slowly getting bigger and bigger and… The ball of light disappeared as I lost the threat of power that I had been desperately holding on to. "Fucking hell!" I cursed at the walls as sweat dripped down my nose. "
Mirage's P.O.V The next morning, I went to Julian's room alone to pay him a visit. Julian's fever had gone down after Freya used her magic to keep the black magic in check, but that was probably the only reason he was still stable. He hadn't woken up or shown any response to external stimuli ever since that day and with every hour that passed without him waking up, Daisy worried that it was only worsening his condition. To say that I was worried about him would be an understatement. The big, blue eyed little boy, who had seemed to have an adorable crush on me, had been the first person in this pack, aside from Alex and Daisy, to actually try to make friends with me. And even though he was far too young, his friendship had been very much welcome. I miss his shy smiles whenever he saw me and the way he would give me a kiss on the cheeks just to get even with Alex. And even though he hadn't known then that the flowers that he had gotten me had been poisoned, I had
Mirage's P.O.V I opened my eyes to the sound of the clock ticking on the wall. It was well past midnight and the packhouse was eerily silent. Alex slept beside me almost soundlessly, his breathing even and his arms wrapped around my waist lightly. I hated this guilty feeling as I looked up at his peaceful face, moving aside the hair on his forehead with feather-light fingers. Just as softly, I took his hand from my waist and placed it on my pillow as I got up from the bed and moved away slowly, so as not to cause much disturbance. The herb that I had mixed in his food wasn't any high grade sleeping pill that was filled with chemicals, so I was a little skeptical about its workings. But seeing Alex sleeping so peacefully gave me relief. It meant that the herb was working. Getting out of bed, I headed for the closet to get dressed in a pair of jeans and a white top with a dark green jacket on top to keep out the cold from my bones. But even as I dressed, eve
Mirage's P.O.V If fear…had a face, then no one would have ever imagined it to be like Alistair Corvenus. The man was unearthly beautiful. As Akiko led me to the streets in front of the packhouse, I found a car waiting for me there. It was a large, black SUV that looked modern and expensive, not something I would have ever associated with Alistair, bust as we drew closer, the door to the back was opened and I finally saw his face. Fear slammed into my gut with the force of an eighteen-wheeler. The revulsion was so high that I felt bile in my throat. But for some reason, even though my body revolted violently against the mere sight of him…my mind remained calm…almost numb. Like all the feelings and emotions had been drained out of me, or locked away at the very least. His bright red eyes sparkled with excitement as soon as his eyes landed on my face and a sly smile stretched on his perfect pink lips. Alistair was literally the poster boy for perfection. His
Mirage's P.O.V "What the fuck are you even getting at?" I snapped at the woman, getting my legs off the side of the bed so I could stand at any given moment. Whatever magic she had been using last night, to get me to comply with their demands…it was gone now. So the only conclusion I could draw at the moment was that she needed energy to do whatever magic she did…or those had been her orders last night, to get me to come with them without causing a scene. Now that they had me in their lair, that was no longer needed. "The Master has got his hands on something very…precious to you," she said the word like she didn't know what it meant. "So it's better for you to comply. There's a chance that you'll be punished otherwise." A harsh laugh escaped my lips, startling her as she was placing the plate onto the small table. "Alistair is a sick fucker who had killed my mother, sold my father and my sister to other vampires and then
Cameron's P.O.V "Both Alex and Mirage?" Alpha Charles, my father, clenched his jaw. "And we're finding out about this only now? What on earth had the guards been doing at night?" "Lucas and Dylan at the front gate said that they were at a daze," Sarah reasoned with my father and I was glad that she was still here because she was the one of the people he still listened to. "Around three at night…it got really foggy and they went out to check. After that, they don't remember much of what happened. It was all foggy and unclear. The next time they returned, over an hour of time had passed and they couldn't remember anything." "Definitely magic, but I'm finding it hard to understand how a witch can cause time lapses or make people lose sense of time," Freya shook her head, rubbing her hands up and down her arm. "The time when my coven came to take me away, they had used fog as well, mixed with a sleeping spell. But thi
Freya's P.O.V Everyone from Alpha Charles's office made their way to Julian's room immediately. All except for Daisy, who went straight to her lab to grab the vial containing the cure and bring it to Julian's room. Cameron held onto my hand tightly, in case I fell over again, but I wasn't going to. I was a lot more stable now and I had to see if the cure really worked. God, I hoped it did. Julian hadn't been conscious for the last four days and with each day that passed, I could see him slowly fade away. I was trying my best to stay strong; for him, for Cameron…but I couldn't do it for much longer. He was the only one I had left…my only family. If something happened to Julian…no! I couldn't even think about it! He was only ten! He hadn't even lived his life yet! How could someone be so heartless as to do this to a child? Mirage was right! Alistair was a sick, twisted bastard who just wanted to get what he wanted and he didn't care how he got it. He didn't
