Alex's P.O.V

I knocked on the doors to the healer's private quarters later that night, guilt filling every cell in my body until it was difficult to breathe.

What had I done?

"Your wolf got overwhelmed," Alpha Charles had told me right after the incident this evening, in a futile attempt to make me feel better. "And since Daisy had been the bearer of bad news, you went for her. Luckily, Cameron worked quickly and got her out before you could do too much damage."

Too much damage? I had seen the blood splattered all over the place…on the table, the walls and even the couch. That wasn't just a mere scratch. It was worse than I had expected and the fact that she was now taking her sweet time in opening her door…it told me that Daisy wasn't in a very nice condition.

A good five minutes later, Daisy's mate Ethan opened the door, a weary expression on his face. I remembered seeing him in the field this morning. He was one of the soldiers who h

Alex's P.O.V The next morning, I stood in one of the darkest corners of the conference room, blended with the shadows as Alpha Charles and Cameron sat in front of the huge plasma screen, connecting a call to Alpha Krimson. Alpha Charles had already sent word to him last night and the answer had come immediately after. Alpha Krimson was interested in talking to us. But even as my heart raced with hope, my palms sweating from nervousness, there was still this lingering fear at the back of my mind about the outcome of this meeting. What if he asked for something that was too much for us to provide? What if he asked for land? Or more of our soldiers? We weren't a humongous pack and to lose more soldiers at this point of time? It'll be a catastrophe. Yes, we had the help of the witch clan that was now a part of Freya's extended family. And the Council of Witches was also on our side. But we couldn't utilize outside resources in our day to day lives. It would gi

Rogue Wolf's P.O.V "This is the last time we'll need to move, okay?" Our mother leaned down so she was eye level with my sister. "Do you understand, sweetheart?" "You promise?" Wet amethyst eyes met my mother's and she hesitated. I saw her swallow hard before she pressed a kiss to my little sister's forehead and closed the door of the car. "Be good, okay girls." She told us as she made her way to the passenger's seat while my dad started the car. "Okay." The pout on her lips made her look even more adorable, but I knew my baby sister was sad to leave behind her new friends. She was only six, so she didn't understand. But I was ten; I knew that mom's promises were false. Because we never stop moving. "It'll be fun, you know," our dad turned to look behind at us, his smile radiant. "Think of it as an adventure. Some people spend their entire life in only one place. But not us! We are not boring

Alex's P.O.V The antidote arrived the next morning, along with the contract. It was sealed in a vial, to be injected into one of the main arteries that would lead directly to the heart. Cameron, Freya and I gathered around the Alpha's desk, along with Darcia and Sarah, as the Alpha opened the seal on the box using the code that Alpha Krimson had sent specifically to the Alpha and one that none of us were made aware of. It was like opening the Holy Grail. A burst of hope and fear. My emotions threatened to overwhelm me, but I held on with teeth gritting strength. My heart thundered inside my chest as the Alpha took out the transparent vial. The liquid inside the vial was colorless as well and for a second, I was anxious if we had been cheated. But thankfully, Alpha Charles had thought about that possibility as well and Daisy and the pack doctor Damien Shaw, who usually looked after the human mates of the pack, stood outside the office, ready to take the sample fo

Rogue Wolf's P.O.V The man I had seen the other day…the one that my wolf had sounded oddly protective of…I saw him enter the cell, holding a plate of what appeared to be food and water. My wolf felt no threat from him, although I had no idea why. It stayed quiet, watching silently as he placed the food at the foot of the bed and then went back to lock the cell doors. Fear struck my heart. Even though my wolf remained calm, I was far from it. What did he think he was doing? What if my wolf was simply playing nice just so it could hurt him…rip him to pieces as it had those two people in the clearing. But he seemed unafraid as he took a seat in front of me, watching me carefully…just as carefully as my wolf was watching him/ Was he a fool? What kind of wolf would be standing so closer to a rogue without protection? My hands might be cuffed to the wall, but he was within reach. If my wolf suddenly decided to go mad…he'll be dead in no time. But still he

Rogue Wolf's P.O.V The haze cleared from my mind slowly. The red receding from my eyes to leave my vision crystal clear. It felt like I was finally able to breathe after gasping for air for ages. It was like waking up from a horrible nightmare filled with blood and gory. But in reality, I knew that it had never really been a nightmare. I had been trapped inside my own mind. A prisoner who was unable to speak or move while my wolf took control of my entire body, ripping and tearing apart anything or anyone that stood in her way. But it seemed to be all over now, right? That haunting, everlasting nightmare that I never thought I could escape from? It was really over…right? My breath came in pants, but it still felt like I wasn't able to fill my lungs to the brim and I felt exhausted; mentally and physically drained. However, the first thing I saw when my vision finally came into focus…was a pair of beautiful green orbs staring right at me with open curiosity.

Mirage's P.O.V I sat on a chair next to the healer, the brunette woman who I just found out was named Daisy, as she took a sample of my blood and patched me up. I was still shivering, despite the warmth of the blanket wrapped around me. Sarah, the blonde girl with the pretty blue eyes, rubbed her hands comfortingly on my shoulders, but it didn't help much. "Mirage, right?" Alpha Charles, the older blonde man and the Alpha to the Ocean Runners pack, asked me cautiously. "Can you tell me what else you remember? Anything about yourself? Your family? Your name is very unique." "I used to live with my mom, dad and my younger sister." I told them now, my voice stronger, more pronounced after the warm drink that Daisy had made me gulp down. "We used to move around a lot…every year." "Do you remember why you moved?"Cameron, Charles's son, asked me this time. I don't know why but the two men together mad

Mirage's P.O.V A rounded, watch-like object snapped shut around my wrist and I felt my jaws lock in place. Anger pulsed through my veins but I tried to rein it back in. There was no point in me getting angry. I should be grateful that I wasn't being thrown into another prison cell. But it still hurt. "This is an electronic monitor that keeps track of your heart beat and your vital body functions." Daisy explained to me. "The watch will send an electric impulse through your body, causing you to lose consciousness once your heartbeat reached 200bpm. That's usually the rate at which rogue's heart usually beats. Anger and fear that might cause the heartbeat to spike are still below 200bpm." "Wow," I told her without humor. "Shocking." Daisy paused in her task of fixing the device and gave me a look. "No matter how much we try to make you feel better with comforting words, I want to be blunt with you." She told

Mirage's P.O.V Alex led me inside the main packhouse that night and I followed silently behind him, a frown on my face. I kept asking myself if this was the right thing to do. The main pack house was where all the important people in the pack resided. What if I turned back once again? The watch on my wrist would send a shock through my body to prevent me from doing anything stupid, but I was still a bit wary about its effectiveness. But then again, it was also the place with maximum security. What better way to keep track of me 24/7 if not inside the pack house directly? We entered the elevators and Alex pressed the button for the topmost floor. His scent became even more pronounced as the doors closed, locking us inside the tiny enclosed space. I found myself taking deeper breaths, as if trying to fill my lungs of his scent. The moment the door opened, I felt relief wash over me. For a second, I thought I might throw myself at him once again if I kept on

Lilac's P.O.V It's been a long ride and a very eventful one at that and anytime I think about what Krimson and I have been through, I'm just grateful we had the strength to go through everything we went through and we were able to come out of it even stronger than how we were before. As the sun cast its warm, golden rays across the university campus, I found myself sitting on a bench, the weight of decisions pressing against my chest. The soft whispers of the leaves rustling in the gentle breeze mirrored the conflicted thoughts swirling in my mind. Krimson, my mate, had offered a future tied to our pack, an enticing prospect for many, but not for me. I gazed at the sprawling grounds, feeling a tug in my heart that wasn't just about academic pursuits. The university held promises beyond the textbooks and lectures. It offered freedom—freedom to carve my own identity, to explore knowledge that extended far beyond the boundaries of our pack's traditions. I yearned to brea

Krimson's P.O.V I woke up to the pale light filtering through the hospital room, the faint beeping of monitors sounding in the background. My vision was hazy at first, the events leading up to this moment a jumbled mess in my mind. As I blinked and slowly tried to focus, the first thing that became clear was Lilac's form, peacefully asleep in a chair next to my bed. Relief washed over me as memories flooded back, fragments piecing together into a coherent narrative. "Lilac," I whispered softly, my voice hoarse from disuse. She stirred slightly, a faint flutter of eyelashes against her cheeks, but she remained deep in slumber. The sight of her there, unwavering by my side, despite everything that had transpired, filled me with an inexplicable warmth. I couldn't help but recall the chaos of that night—the confrontation, the whirlwind of emotions, and then the blankness as consciousness slipped away from me. But here I was, waking up to her steadfast presence. It m

Lilac's P.O.V I watched Silver hurl accusations at me, adding to my guilt. I wanted to explain, to make her understand that it wasn't intentional, that the circumstances had shifted beyond my control. But words seemed to desert me in that moment as I grappled with the weight of her accusation. However, Krimson's voice echoed in the room then, commanding even though weak. "Silver, it's not Lilac's fault," he said firmly, his voice carrying the weight of authority. "I made the decision. I took action to protect." Silver's gaze snapped toward Krimson, her eyes filled with disbelief. "What are you saying, Krimson? You hated her, didn't you? Then why would you risk your life to save her?" Krimson shook his head solemnly. "No, Silver. I never hated Lilac, it was our circumstances that I hated. It felt like the Goddess had played a cruel joke on me. But I couldn't run away from a bond fated by the goddess herself, Silver. I had caused Lilac enough pain as it is…I

"Silver…" I called out to her slowly, making her head snap in my direction. "Please…you need to stop all of this." But Silver's face twisted in a sinister smirk. "It's too late to stop any of this, Lilac. This ends with one of us." "It doesn't have to be that way, Silvia." I shook my head, pleading with her. From the corner of my eyes, I saw Del approaching her steadily from behind her, while I kept on engaging her in conversion. "It does, Lilac." Silver snapped at me, turning her body around so she was facing me completely. "You don't understand-" It was all Del needed, for her to turn away, so that our plan worked. Without wasting a second, he came up behind Silver and wrapped his arms around her body, holding her in place as he took her by surprise

Lilac's P.O.V For a moment, time seemed suspended, the tableau frozen in an eerie stillness. Silver hesitated, her gaze flickering between me and Krimson, the dagger held poised in the air, its lethal purpose momentarily forgotten in the face of Krimson's interruption. "Step away from her, Silver," Krimson's voice cut through the tension, unwavering and authoritative. His stance was firm, commanding obedience without question. The grip of Silver's magic lessened, the pressure easing just enough for me to draw a ragged breath. My muscles protested as I struggled against the binds anew, though I didn't dare to take my eyes off Silver, her expression a maelstrom of conflicting emotions - anger, desperation, and a hint of something I couldn't quite place. "Krimson, you shouldn't be here," Silver's voice wavered, a tremor betraying the turmoil within her. Her grip on the dagger faltered, uncertainty clouding her features. "You know I couldn't stand by and

Lilac's P.O.V The air was thick with tension, a palpable energy that crackled around us like a storm waiting to break. "Silver, you're fooling yourself if you think you can wield that kind of power," I said softly, my gaze fixed on the gleaming knife in her hands. "You're not a true Silver Alpha Breeder, you never will be. You can't ever access my full potential." Silver's laughter cut through the serene air, a sound that held a hint of something darker beneath its surface. "Oh, you have no idea, do you?" Her eyes glinted with an intensity that sent a shiver down my spine. "You underestimate what a witch can do, what I can do. I'm part wolf, part witch. I'm a hybrid that is already stronger than both a wolf and a witch! There's nothing I cannot do, Lilac!" "You think I chose you to lead our pack because of some noble sentiment? No, Lilac." Her voice was cold, devoid of any warmth. "I chose you because I knew the stronger you became, the more that dormant p

Lilac's P.O.V My eyes brimmed with confusion and hurt as I confronted Silver in the dimly lit room I was being held captive in. "Did you…ever really consider me a friend, Silver?" my voice trembled with a mixture of fear and desperation, my heart aching with the weight of betrayal. Silver, her gaze heavy with sorrow and a haunted past, met my eyes. "I used to belong to a peaceful pack, a pack that had been my home since the day I was born," she began, her voice tinged with a raw emotion that spoke volumes of her pain. "We lived in harmony, in unity. It was everything to me." Tears welled up in Silver's eyes, reflecting the agony of memories etched deep within her soul. "Your father," she whispered, the words heavy with anguish. "He... he attacked our pack. In the dead of night, when darkness cloaked the land, he led a brutal assault." I felt my heart ache for the woman that I had once considered my biggest alley, but now, she had turned out to be my bigges

Krimson's P.O.V The night hung heavy around us as we tore through the city streets, the engine's roar mingling with the howling wind. Del and I were on a mission—racing against time to reach Silver's apartment. It was imperative that we find Lilac before anything sinister unfolded. "Alpha Krimson, step on it!" Del's voice cut through the adrenaline-charged air, urgency lacing every word. His grip tightened on the door handle as we swerved through the dimly lit alleys, the neon signs blurring into streaks of color. "I'm pushing it as hard as I can!" I shouted back, my eyes fixed on the road ahead. The weight of worry pressed on me like a leaden cloak. We had to reach Silver's place, and had to find Lilac safe and sound. Finally, screeching to a halt outside Silver's building, we leaped out of the car. Breathless and tense, we dashed up the stairs, each step echoing the pounding of our hearts. As we reached Silver's door, our hopes soared, but a hollow silence gre

Lilac's P.O.V As I slowly arose to consciousness, I found myself grappling with the weight of my heavy eyelids. My mind sluggishly pieced together the fragments of reality, pushing through a dense fog of disorientation. The air felt heavy, each inhale a laborious effort that failed to fill my lungs as it should. A peculiar lightheadedness swept over me, a disconcerting sensation akin to floating on the edge of a dream. My initial attempt to stretch my arms, to move, met an unexpected resistance. Panic flickered through my drowsy mind as the realization hit home—I was restrained. My fingertips brushed against something coarse and unyielding, confirming my fear. The sensation sent a jolt of adrenaline through my groggy state, clearing the haze momentarily. I tried to rise, only to discover the cruel truth of my predicament: bound, not just by ropes or chains, but tied firmly to what appeared to be a marble table. The cool surface pressed against my skin, a s
