Chapter Forty Four

“Who told you about this?” Alston questioned the little boy.

“My mum and her friends have been saying it and they said something would happen to us if she becomes the queen, can you not mate with her?” The little boy pleaded, pouting his lips at Alston.

Alston sighed and raised his hand up to shuffle the boy's head. He had no idea what to say.

“Let me tell you a secret. It would be between you and me okay, no telling anyone, alright?”

The little boy nodded vigorously as Alston leaned onto his ears. After whispering some words to him, the boy's face lit up, taking one of his fingers and placing it on his lips. Alston patted his shoulder and got back on his feet, turning away from the boy with an unsettling depth of trouble in him. He needed to call them, they should stop saying nonsense to their kids.
