Alpha Elijah’s POV

She was beautiful to watch. From my place at the edge of the woods, I could see Aria talking to Simon. They were sitting on the ground, both enjoying the warmth of the sun. Her dark hair was tied back into a high bun revealing the curves of her neck.

Each and every day that passed, I struggled to be around her. Her scent was intoxicating and anytime I was near, it was like it was calling to me personally, teasing me for not marking her yet. There were so many times that something could have happened between us but she always pulled away, or someone would interrupt us. I wanted to wait until I could mark her, but I'm not sure how much longer I can.

It didn’t help that we hadn’t found Ryan yet. There were rumours of a man matching his description in the small human town a few miles away. Any time my warriors passed through, they couldn’t pick up anything, not even his scent.

Days had turned into weeks and I was worried. Not for myself but Aria. She wouldn’t enter the

Aria’s POVI’m not even sure what came over me, or what made me give myself to him so easily. I just knew that I couldn’t fight it any longer. I had to be with him!His hands grip my hips, holding me close to him. His teeth suddenly sinking into my neck as he releases himself inside of me, forever marking me as his. Something we had never spoken about and yet something I desperately wanted.I feel the connection, the power as his wolf venom coursed through my veins. Elijah refuses to let go of me as his teeth retract. Holding me steady as I suddenly become incredibly weak. This part of the mate bond had never been explained to me.“Elijah” I murmur his name as he lifts me from the floor. I was exhausted and could barely think straight. He holds me against his chest, cradling me as we leave his office, carrying me to my bedroom, not his.Settling me down in the bed, he pulls the sheets up over me. Kissing me on the forehead, he tells me to sleep.“Stay” I mumble, hoping he would do as

Ryan’s POVSitting in my room and throwing a ball against the wall, Elle walks in with her hands on her hips as she stares at me with those gorgeous hazel eyes. Her long blonde curls were braided today and wrapped up on top of her head. A sign that she was not planning on going anywhere today as her little pointed ears were on show.“Are you going to be sulking all day?” she asks with a little huff.“There’s nothing for me to do here, not until I can come up with a full proof plan to get back my girl.”Elle rolls her eyes at me and catches the ball before I do.“Well you aren’t going to come up with anything just sitting there. At least get out of this bedroom and help me clean!” she throws the ball at my face, followed by a rag.I had agreed for Elle to move in with me. After all, we were both living among humans and this way, we could help each other out. I had told her all about Aria, well, to a point. Elle knew that Aria was with another man but as far as she was aware, Elijah had

Alpha Elijah’s POVOkay, I overreacted! It was my own fault, I should have told her the truth when I found out weeks ago, not hidden it from her.She hadn’t spoken to me for three days, either keeping herself locked in her bedroom, or walking out the room as soon as she saw me. It was making my life hell. She was marked, she should be all mine and yet all I could sense was this… hate towards me.Linking her didn’t work, I could only have a one sided conversation with her and even though she was unable to speak back through the link, she had certainly started to work out how to block me.The more Aria stayed away, the more foul a mood I was in, even Simon had commented that I’ve been grumpier than usual.I could really be an arsehole and force myself into her room, even pin her to the wall to get her to speak but something tells me that it would make no difference, especially after what that prick had done to her.“Fucking hell Elijah, just go and shag her already.”I peer over the top

Aria’s POVI felt like I was losing the plot as I stared at Elijah, I was hot, aroused and annoyed all at the same time.Elijah doesn’t answer my question immediately as he stares back at me wide eyed.“Not the Old Moon!” I glare at him, my teeth clenched together as I tried to keep myself from lunging at him.The Old Moon mating thing lasted twenty four hours whereas my need to mate had passed seventy six hours. I had hardly slept, hardly eaten and in a desperate attempt to understand what was going on, I tried to keep myself away from Elijah.“I don’t know. Maybe because you have been keeping yourself away from me!” I see the lust in his darkening eyes, his nostrils flaring slightly as my aroused scent filled his nostrils.“Like I said Aria, maybe I can help you with that!” He steps towards the bed and leans down over me as a wave of giddiness rolls through me. His scent was muskier than normal, but the closer he was, the wetter I was becoming. He keeps his eyes on mine, a smirk sp

Aria’s POV “My sister?” I was surprised to find out Seren was here, especially after everything. She wasn’t exactly trying to help me and I am pretty certain that I saw her with Ryan when I was kidnapped. “That is what she is calling herself. Though I don’t recognise her. She has however requested to see you.” “I don’t want to see her.” “Interesting” he mutters as he rubs his chiselled beard. “Why is that interesting? She was an absolute bitch to me. She hated me growing up, hated how Kyle would always side with me.” “Well she is here now. It is your choice Aria. Personally I have no need or desire to keep her comfortable. She is not a member of my pack and more importantly, she was found trespassing.” “Has she said anything?” “Only that she wants to see you?!” “You didn’t hurt her?” A suspicious smile appears on his face and his eyes glance away from mine. “Oh I wouldn’t say that.” I may not like Seren but she was still my sister, I didn’t want anyone to hurt her. “What

Ryan’s POV“I think you better start talking Elle.”She shifts around uncomfortably, her eyes darting around the room like she was searching for a way to escape. As soon as I realise what she is doing, I block the door, her invisibility tricks won’t work on me this time!“Just tell me Elle because it sounds a lot like we both have a problem with Elijah.”“I can’t, I promised!” she bites down on her bottom lip, exactly the way Aria had done whenever she was nervous.“Come on Elle. It’s not like I can do anything anyway, his numbers are huge and I am just one man.”“He will kill me if the information gets out!”“And I might just kill you if you don’t start talking!” It was harsh, but I needed to know what she was hiding. Her eyes widen at my response, the hazel of her eyes shifting to a grey colour when she suddenly charges me. As she slams into me, the pretty girl I knew was gone. Instead her face was sharper, her limbs had lengthened, her eyes bigger and rows of sharp teeth had replac

Alpha Elijah’s POVAll I could do was watch her. Aria’s eyes danced around as she took another sip. She appeared to be completely unaware that she was slurring her words. Almost like she was drunk, but all she had had was my blood and I had made sure that there was no alcohol in my system before having my blood drawn. She mutters something about only drinking one glass even though she had more, when she leaps up from her seat. I watch as the glass rolls from her lap, bouncing across the carpet and look up just in time to see her lunging at me, her fangs on show. What the fuck was happening to her?She falls short, crashing onto my desk and sending paperwork flying. It gives me the chance to pin her down and call for Simon to help. When Simon arrives, he laughs, completely amused by the scene.“I’m not sure what you are thinking but this is certainly not my idea of fun sex.” he chuckles to himself again.“Shut up Simon and help!”Aria was wriggling underneath me, her teeth nipping at a

Ryan’s POVElle didn’t speak to me for a few days, escaping the apartment any chance she got or just generlly avoiding me. She had even picked up extra shifts, but the icing on the cake was when I woke to find a note from her scrunched up in my hand. Telling me not to look for her.Things had been tense, the atmosphere between us strained as I struggled to put together what I had done wrong to make her avoid me, but this note clearly meant that I had screwed up. The last time I had seen her, she looked atme the same way as Aria did, like she pitied me. Maybe I should have told her the truth about me from the beginning!Knocking on her bedroom door was a habit. If it had been Aria I would have just forced myself in but I had needed Elle. I had needed her trust and had kept up the pretence of being a good man, something far more difficult than revealing the truth.Elle’s room was immaculate, not a single spec of dust could be seen and yet something in here just felt off. “You won’t, you will never do it!” Athena screams as I drag her across the ground. “Shut your fucking mouth.” I yell over her whimperings.“Then just kill me. I can't bare to see you fuck us over.”“No Athena. You will see what happens. You will watch as I take over the entire world and you will hear all of it.”“Please, just let me die.”“No fucking chance.” I threw her body into the dungeon where Aria had been locked away. Athena’s body hits the stone floor as she rolls across the ground.“Please, Atlas, please just let me…”“Alpha Atlas.” I mutter. She was a traitor, she wasn’t anything other than that.“Alpha Atlas, please just let me die.” She continues to beg.“No chance.”I slam the door of the dungeons shut. Slipping the key into the lock. She would never get to see any of the pack again. All she would ever get is the information of how the world was changing. How I was becoming the King that no one could stop. How I would be unstoppable,I walk down to the gates, waiting for

Atlas’s POVI couldn’t believe what I was hearing. How could Simon be mated to Athena? It didn’t seem possible. After all, he was gay. He had been married to a man.A man that he met at my ball! Ryan mutters. He sounded almost annoyed. “I can’t help it, Simon. The Moon Goddess obviously paired us together for a reason. It's not my fault.""There could have been a chance, but I can't protect you now!""You're not even going to try?"“Shut up. Just shut up you stupid woman!” Simon growls at her, obviously having enough of her shit.“I’m sorry that I am not what you wanted. Let me guess, you wanted someone with a dick!” Athena snaps back. "Well, I'm sorry about that, so suck it up!"“Whatever is going to happen between us doesn’t matter if Atlas kills you.”The sentence was perfect timing. Stepping into the small room. I see Athena sitting on the edge of a sofa. Her face in her hands. Her chocolate brown hair draped down over her. Simon had his back to me. His hands on his hips. A red t

Atlas’s POVSimon bursts into the room. I hadn’t even realised he had followed me. He stops in front of the empty crib. “Where is he, Atlas?” I couldn’t speak. I was in shock. How had I not felt it? How had I not known that he was in trouble?“ATLAS? Where the hell is he?”“She has him. She has taken my son.” I growl“FIND ATHENA!” I yell through a link to every single wolf and Lycan in the pack. “DO NOT LET HER OUT OF YOUR SIGHT. SHE HAS MY SON!”“I can help.” Simon offers.“How? How can someone like you help.”“He is okay. Hunter is okay. That’s why you couldn’t sense him being taken. His Aunty has him. If he feels danger. You will know. You will feel it”“How can you be certain? He is the first Lycan child.”“Because you feel it when he cries. You feel it in your heart when he is upset. Whatever Athena has done. She is keeping him safe and he trusts her. The question is, what does she want in return.”“I know what she wants. She wants Bethany dead.”“Me?” A small voice cries behin

Atlas’s POVAesha drops her head, keeping herself from looking at me. I wasn’t mad at her. I already had my suspicions. The way Athena looked at Bethany. The spite in her words. I had never known someone so jealous over a child.“Thank you, Aesha.”“You’re not mad at me?”“I’m not mad with you, no! You did the right thing.” I mull over her words. Frustrated that I couldn't get a break.“I told you Aesha. It was better to tell him than not.” Simon mumbles and nods at her, giving her a smile. I wondered how long this had been bugging her. Not once had we been alone today for her to tell me. Athena was always there, hovering or Bethany was at my side. Had Athena known Aesha had overheard her?“Did she know, Aesha? Did she know that you were listening in?”“I don’t… I don’t think so.”That sounds like a yes. If Athena had picked up her scent, then it would be obvious. It’s why Athena probably hovered at the funeral.“Things are getting more and more fucked up!” Simon mutters“Why are you

  • The Alpha’s Awakening   Forty Nine.

Atlas’s POVGetting Aria ready for her funeral hit me hard. It made me realise just how much I missed her. She had put me through my paces, testing my patience but at the end of the day, she was mine.I'm not ready.'I know, but it is time.'Just like Bethany had said, Aria looked as though she was sleeping. Her fresh clothes hid her fatal wound. Aesha was busy putting some sort of make up on Aria, giving her a bit of colour. She keeps her mouth shut, knowing that it was best not to speak. It had been a long time since I had sent someone back to the Moon Goddess and I wasn’t ready for this. I reach out to touch her cold skin. Hoping that by some miracle, she would wake up. That this was all just some nightmare.“Everyone’s ready.” Athena mutters. I see how she glances at Bethany, but she doesn’t say anything and Bethany is oblivious to it.I nod and she leaves, taking Aesha with her. Bethany remains behind with me. She had stayed with me ever since we went to the orphanage earlier. Sh

Atlas’s POVOver the course of the next few days, it was almost impossible to get anymore information out of Bethany. The moment she felt threatened, she would clam up. Hiding herself away, never leaving the house and refusing to speak to anyone. The only thing that would coax her out of her hiding spot was hot food. Today, it seemed like the smell of food wasn’t even working. I would have to go and find her when I was done.“Some great idea of yours.” I mutter as Aesha sits at the breakfast table with Athena and I.Athena cocks an eyebrow at me. She didn’t have a clue what I was talking about, but her gaze hit me hard. I had allowed Athena and Aesha to stay in the packhouse. In some ways it helped me feel close to Aria. Yet, it always seemed like they were watching my every move.“Is this about the funeral, Atlas? Because you can’t keep putting it off forever. Aria isn’t coming back.” I heard the undertone in her voice. She was trying to be assertive but she was grieving like the res

Atlas’s POVThe small girl remains asleep for hours. Whether it was shock or tiredness that was causing her to sleep so heavily, I couldn’t tell. Her blonde hair was dirty. There were blood stains around her finger nails. Her blood splattered clothes were too small for her, torn in places too. Her feet were bare and didn’t look like they had been cleaned in days, maybe weeks.Hunter stirs in my arms, making little noises and I watch as the girl's face screws up. Like my son's sounds were causing her some distress. Calling for Aesha, she comes into my office and takes Hunter from me, casting a glance over the young girl.“Still not woken?” She asks and I shake my head.“I think she might have needed it.”“Sleep? She was with humans, surely they were looking after her, she is just a kid. At least you haven't killed her. Does that mean you are going ahead with what I suggested?"I don't respond. But I had investigated the girls feet. The hardened skin, the old scars, the clothes that wer
