"You know what, people like you—you're just meant to never have a nice heart. I'm done here." I rolled my eyes at Lucy, about to leave, but I couldn't as she grabbed me by my elbow and sent me back to her front.

"What were you saying?" Lucy stood firm in front of me with her eyes boring into mine, like she was about to eat me raw.

I batted my eyes but knew I couldn't back down, not at this point. If she wanted to be sassy at me without knowing my kind of person, then I could be rude as well. To be honest, I can even punish her by informing Alpha Matthew of her insolent behaviour.

"You heard what I said. You aren't my boss. Alpha Matthew never brought me to the maid's quarters or put you in the position to boss me around. And by the way, is she even the head of maids in this pack?"

My face had shifted to Aliya, who was just staring at us with wide eyes. She seemed so much like me, who doesn't like conflicts, because she just maintained her distance from us.

Aliya didn't answer me be

Alana's POV.I was about to reply to Alaric when Lucy, the sassy and unrespectful maid, took over and stated, "I swear, Master Alaric, I didn't start it. It was her." My jaw slacked and I hung in the air for a second, dazed by how courageous this sassy maid was to lie against me. She began this, and to save herself, she would also lie. This was so crazy, coming from a maid. "No, that wasn't..." Alaric held his hand in the air, which shut me up, and the sassy maid jerked her lips to the left side, delighted that I was asked to hold in my words. As I signaled disapproval with a scowl, I thought to not back down this time again. I wouldn't let Ava defeat me and then a rude maid. Alaric walked over to his study table and exhaled. With his lips open, he gasped in air as he bent down to pick something up. That's also when I caught it. His works. They are soaked in water. Shit!I slapped my hands against my mouth and threw glowers like daggers at Lucy, who's now seeming so gentle and

Alana's POV. Ava spewed further as she rolled her eyes at me. "Yes, that's the best decision, baby. If you don't punish her now, she wouldn't know not to cause trouble another day. We've all had our share of issues, but not like in the midst of them, destroying things. Alana is nothing but a pest." I scoff in disgust. "No, don't you believe me at all? You should know that I would never want to destroy your things. It's so clear that this maid is lying against me." "How do you mean? Didn't all the evidence turn against you? Are you implying that my fiancee is lying against you as well?" He lashed out at me. I was agitated at this point. It was either he put words in my mouth or used my own words against me. Is that how much he believed that I did this?"I already made my decision. You shall be punished, Alana."My tone breaks in my throat. My wolf was in a rage, but we had to keep it down. We wouldn't want to fight our mate if we wanted him to see us for who we were to him; instead

Alaric's POV. "Master Alaric, you can believe that I am the culprit. I'm being framed here. I swear on the moon goddess!" Lucy was quick to fret, her eyes popping out from their sockets like she had just faced the most horrific event of her life. I could almost swear that I believed her again, but I wasn't sure. These maids have been working for me since their first day in the palace, so having to believe that Lucy was trying to frame Alana for an offense that demanded she be punished by me is unrealistic. I shook my head at her words. "Master Alaric!" I held out my palm at her, and she hushed talking. The room was once again pulled back into silence. Then, I walked over to Alana. Zeroed, my eyes stuck on her face, and I said, "Look at me, Alana."When she raised her gaze at me, my nostrils inhaled more air, and my sternum broadened, showing that my heartbeat had quickened. I squinted my eyes as I searched into hers. She was innocent. I could tell, and as the light bounced off

Ava's POV.Alaric helped me to lie down on his bed, and I grunted again, making certain that I sounded as if it were real.I wasn't indeed in pain. It was a fake shout of pain but necessary at that situation. Even when I had plan everything and it was going just the way I wanted, Alaric just had to be smart and use his intellect to decipher Lucy's lies. "I can't get my temperature from you and listening to your pulse, you seem fine.""Maybe you just don't know the body like you think you do. I said I'm in pain, and instead of you getting me..."I muffled out a sound of pain, slamming my left hand on my mouth like I was trying to hold it in. "Instead of you getting me a doctor, you are listening to my pulse.""Right. I'm so stupid." Alaric said and hurried to leave the room. I exhaled a deep breath through my mouth and stood up from the bed, then jabbed my fist into the air out of frustration. Alana had to be the most infuriating person I have ever come across in my life, and even

Lucy's POV. My legs carried me fast to the maids' quarters, and as soon as I jammed the door closed behind me, I closed my eyes and sniffled. I wanted to cry but I was so burning with rage inside of me. I was this close to fulfilling the deal and getting Aliya and me out of the mess of being a maid. It was clear that Miss Ava was a devil to never make a deal with, but then she seemed so well a devil that would make you enjoy her first before she probably turned her back against us. For me, anyway, I had plans, so she was never going to be able to betray us. The aim was almost achievable, but Aliya...my eyes opened just then, and I quickened my pace, heading to our room, certain that she would be there until a maid stopped me on the way. She had jumped in front of me and my eyes flared before my nostrils crunched in annoyance. It was evident, so she quickly took one step back. "What do you want, Cassie?"Her teeth were out while she grinned. "The rumours are spreading. They say

Alana's POV.The breeze on the balcony was one of the best things this place has to offer. It was always soothing and pleasing to take a seat and read medical books up here. Speaking of medical books, the library that I was allowed to use, as there are many others but they were restricted for who knows what reasons, had to have the best medical books in the shadow pack.I was seated on a footstool, resting my arm on the cold rails of the metal walk guide, while my other hand was holding a health book about the lungs and, as a werewolf, major things that could hurt the lungs, either external or internal. Enjoyable was the rejuvenating afternoon until I dipped my hands into the plate of cookies and saw it was finished. I headed back to my room to get some more. Having packed it into the plate, I turned, and then I slammed myself into someone. The fear of already seeing the image from a vague distance scared me even before I slammed into its owner, and I squeaked as I lost my steps an

Alaric's POV. There was no reason for excitement, but watching how I troubled Alana made me smile. I was content, and for some reasons, I couldn't wait for her to be done with the food. My wolf was in a thrill. Scanning my eyes around the room, I figured there was nothing much that I could do, so I went back to the balcony, where the evening sky shimmered with a beautiful sunset."The Anatomy of the Lungs." I read it on the cover of the book that Alana was reading. A smile crept up my face at the fact that she really meant it when she said she was interested in being a pack doctor. I picked up the book and squinted my eyes at the crest at the upper edge.It was from the shadow pack. She must have gotten it in one of our libraries. "What could she be studying in here?" My wolf questioned me from inside, which only further pushed me to scan through the pages. She was obviously learning about infections that a werewolf could get in their lungs. Someone cared, after all. Just as I lo

Alaric's POVI picked up the glass cup next to the cabinet that contained an apple cider drink and gulped it into my throat to ease the disgust of a meal.At the same time, Alana walked back into the room with fright in her body's composure. Swallowing the rest of the salt in my tongue with my eyes closed in irritation, I pointed my palm to it."What is this? Alana, what did you do?" Her face dashed from me to the plate and back on me then she shrugged, acting innocent. This was my fault. I had been the one who wanted to be nice, and in return, this was what I got. "Oh, it's clear now. You want revenge, and thus you waited for a time when I would slip, and then you could poison me." I stood up and threw the cup against the wall. The effect emitted a shattering sound, and as the pieces rattled on the ground with a crinkling sound, my eyes burned at Alana. "Just say the truth. You were waiting for me to come to you, and then you could fool me, is that it?" There was a frown settle

Alan’s POV Lisa was also an omega, but she had a better name than I did. She didn't get insulted as often as I did since she was still a member of the pack, while I was just a slave omega who was sold.I tried to ignore them, but their taunts grew louder. Tears welled up in my eyes, but I refused to let them fall. Instead, I held my head high and continued walking. lisa understood how I felt, and she touched me, giving me strength. I knew I had to be strong and not let them defeat me.Whenever lisa was with me, the chances of getting bullied were slimmer. We had been friends since the day I was sold into the pack. She was one of the few people who saw me for who I was and didn't judge me based on the circumstances of my life. Having her by my side gave me much-needed comfort. I often thought she would have been a great mate if she were a guy.We finished up and made our way back to the outskirts of the city. I couldn't help but think about the upcoming celebration that everyone was t

Alana’s POV "Slave Alanna, do you still have anything to say?" The Alpha's loud voice met my ears; he was talking to me. My head was bowed, and I was sure I looked guilty.Slowly, I raised it, tears clouding my eyes, never mind, I was just a weak human and couldn't stop myself from crying. "I didn't do anything to luna." The words choked out of me. I wanted him to believe me, but he didn't."Drop this act, you wretched witch. You did this to me!" The Alpha of the Jade pack, my mate's wife, yelled at me. "You did this," she said again.I shifted my gaze to her, forcing myself to speak. "You're all lying," I muttered in a whisper. "What would you gain?"I was being accused of slapping the Luna. What reason would I have for doing that? I was just an omega slave, and she was a werewolf Luna. How in God's name could I slap her? They weren't thinking."Alanna, did you slap the Luna?"Alaric, my mate, asked."I.. I.. I mean" I couldn't speak, and everyone began to murmur."See, Alpha, she's

AVA’S POVPacing around the room, I knew the importance of the coronation and I couldn't help but let my emotions becloud my sense of reason."Ava you need to calm down." Collete voice pulled me out of my deep thought. "You don't have to be bothered by Alana." I stopped on my track. Mere hearing that name pulled a certain anger within my vein."That bitch had succeeded in taking everything away from me. I used to think about my life with Alaric and right now,it is obvious my hopes are gone down the drain." I didn't know my voice were loud. I hated that someone like Alanna would take Alaric away from me and all I had in mind was nothing short of revenge."What are you going to do?" Collette questioned and indeed it was the same question that lingered through my heart. What exactly am i going to do about Alanna. It was about time I dealt with her appropriately. While my mind was in deep thought about my next line of action. I suddenly felt a wave of energy hovering around the place and

Alana’s POV Huh What was happening?"Baby, who is she?" She eyed me, or more so, the coat I was wearing. "Darling," he responded, my heart breaking into a million pieces at the name he just called her. "She's my mate and new slave. Do you like her?""You brought your mate here without consulting me? Alaric..." She dragged."I don't remember having to take orders from you." The alpha frowned."I'm sorry, baby, it's just..." Again, she looked at the coat. I'm sure she recognizes it as Alpha Alaric's."Don't think too much." He stated, walking to stand beside her, facing me. "Ava, meet Hazel, my omega mate and slave," he began introducing. "Omega," he referred to me, "meet Ava, my wife." What His wife? Alpha Alaric already had a chosen mate?God, was this a joke? It was a cruel joke indeed."Baby, why does she look pale?" Ava looked disgusted at me."It's how omegas act when they see beautiful things." He snickered. He was rejecting me directly. Damn, it hurt so bad. Whatever he wa

Alana’s POVI jerked back to reality, my attention back to the man in front of me. He was glaring at me."I'd like to get started, if you're willing to pay attention now." The Alpha grumbled.Without waiting for an answer, he signaled to the elder to begin the ceremony."Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to be here at the Sun Moon Pack today to bless the union of these two children of the Moon Goddess. Shall we?"He looked at my mate, and he nodded once. The elder looked to me with a soft smile, which I returned."Do you, Hazel?" He stumbled for a second, and I smiled sheepishly. The Elder cleared his throat and started again. "Do you, Hazel of the Sun Moon Pack, accept this union and my blessings?""I do," I muttered."And do you acknowledge and accept that henceforth, you will no longer be a member of the Sun Moon Pack?""Yes." I replied a little more eagerly, Who wouldn't be happy to leave the place called hell?"Then, as an Elder of the Werewolf Sitting Council, I hereby strip

Alana’s POV"Hurry up, slave! You have no work to do, after all. Did you even bathe? You stink," barked the Alpha, his tone filled with disdain.I rolled my eyes, growing tired of his constant belittling. I couldn't comprehend why the Alpha thought it was a good idea to assign his spoiled omega sex slave to help me prepare for my mating ritual. It was beyond me. When my mate was in the pack, they allowed me to rest, although my mate would occasionally yank me out of bed by my hair if I got too comfortable. Since then, the slave, Jennifer, had done nothing but waste time on her phone and hurl insults at me with her attitude."Yes, Jennifer," I muttered, my voice laced with irritation. She snorted in response and returned her attention to her phone. I was nearly ready for the ritual. My thick brown hair had been pulled up into an elegant twist, with the veil neatly tucked into place. I hadn't worn any makeup, so I had no choice but to embrace my natural appearance. It didn't bother me

All of the paranormals in the pack were assembled on the open ground; they were all listening to Vron's final speech before the battle."My friends, the battle is upon us. Today! We emerge victorious against the pureblood! Charge! He yelled.Everyone on the field charged in the direction that the purebloods were coming from.Alana was levitating over them all, watching them charge. She sent Alaric to safety while Colette, who was about as powerful as Rawlaine, fought alongside the others on the ground. Alana wasn't taking part in their battle; her opponents weren't the ant-like wolfs of the Nosferatu, but the twelve purebloods. She didn't have to wait long before they arrived. They attacked her in the sky as soon as they arrived on the battlefield."Hmph, these are the roaches that want to take my powers for themselves." She scoffed. She deflected all of their attacks with a single wave of her hands."You have all been thorns in my father's side; today, you will cease to exist," she s

Alana’s POVThe last week came, and I started my training with Lawson. He was polite and cheerful as always, and I was very friendly to him as well. He fought hard, but I took special care not to defeat him even once. That would make his guard low. I knew that I could defeat him, even though I couldn't defeat Rawlaine. If I wasn't wrong, Rawlaine was the most powerful wolf alive in the human realm, apart from the pureblood, if not the most powerful supernatural. On the last day of my training with Lawson, he politely asked for a word with me."Can we take a walk?" He asked."Sure," I replied. We walked to the edge of Lake Geneva, which was on the border of the pack's territory."I heard from one of the witches that you had a shouting row with Rawlaine over me a week ago," he started.I pretended to get enraged on his behalf again. ,"Yes, he was slandering you just to get me to like him. What an attention-seeking jerk!" I exclaimed."He wasn't always like that, you know," he said."He

Ava’S POVA loud siren suddenly started blaring, making my head hurt badly."All residents of the pack are to assemble in the general hall immediately," said the voice of Vron, the leader of the pack and the instructor of the Numbers.I got dressed quickly and went to the hall alongside Belle, who explained everything about the pack that Five and Ven had left out. There were only twelve of the numbers left. Vron was a witch, and the most powerful among the werewolves were the triplet grandchildren of Count Dracula, which were Lawson, the guy from yesterday, herself, and someone called Rawlaine. They were sixty-three years old each, and they were opposing their grandfather by choosing the opposite side from him in the war."We used to be so close when we were young, but something happened. Rawlaine doesn't interact with anyone anymore; it's rumored that something happened to him some twenty years ago." Belle looked sad as she said that."The strongest of the werewolves are the five des
