Jayden's POV
Bodies.
There were dead bodies littering the field, from both sides. I watched as people carried the bodies off the field, some dismembered and others still intact.
I was used to war. I was used to losing loyal pack members on the battlefield, but that didn't mean that it got easier. It was especially hard watching the loved ones of the deceased mourn.
This time I felt even more responsible than ever before. I wasn't there for them. I wasn't there to help them. I wasn't there to help my people when they needed me the most.
How could I look at my people knowing I have let them down?
"You didn't let them down. No one blames you for what happened" A voice s
Ava's POV"You can't go in there" I heard muffled voices coming from the other side of the door."I need to make sure she's ok" I could clearly make out Jayden's voice.Elsa was on the other side probably blocking his path, which wasn't the smartest idea. Never come between two mates, especially an alpha. They were very overprotective and caring over their other half."If you don't move out of my fucking way this minute, I swear to god that-" I could practically feel the angry radiating off him, even from the other side of the door."That what? You'll rip me to shreds. Go ahead; I'd like to see you try
Ava's POVA lot of things have happened these past few weeks. My baby bump was huge, making it hard to get things done, but I managed. We were able to finish my welcoming ceremony and it ended on a high note. We finished with a run in our wolf form through the forest. It was truly a beautiful sight watching all the pack members running alongside me.Things were finally looking up. I just hoped that there wouldn't be any more unwanted surprise. But it seemed that I spoke too soon, because in that very moment I felt water running down my legs.Really!?'You couldn't wait until I finished my ice cream?' I frowned. When I made a move to walk I felt a
Five years later...Ava and I got married four years ago. We didn't have a wedding ceremony or anything. All we had to show that we were married were our marriage certificate and our wedding rings. She had insisted that we didn't have a traditional wedding because; she was very self-conscious about her body. She had put on a little weight during her first pregnancy, and ever since then things sort of took a turn for the worst. There was a point where she was so depressed to the point where she didn't want to eat anything. At one point she was unable to take care of herself and our son. But no matter what happened I was still there with her every step of the way.I never gave up on Ava. I helped her back on her feet and back to health. I would tell her every day that she was beautiful
I'm Ava Cater. I'm a member of the Crystal Blue pack; at least I think I am. I don't know if I can refer to myself as a member of a pack that tortures its own pack members for their own twisted satisfaction.I was the walking punching bag for anyone who felt the need to hit something, or in my case someone. It was absolute torture living among these people who you thought would be there to protect you and not cause you even more suffering than you have already endured.I was a loner not by choice, but nonetheless a loner. It was easy for anyone to take advantage of me since I was the weakling. I was the weakest person in my pack. I wasn't always weak, but over time as the beatings intensified, I lost communication with my wolf.I think she was mad that I never stood up for myself, or she was too weak from all the be
Ava's POV"Mom, please don't go" I begged as tears ran down my face. I sniffled a little trembling in fear as I pleaded with her with my eyes."I have to go sweetie. You have to stay in here and don't come out until I come get you" she said, placing a kiss on my forehead as she pulled back with a reassuring smile on her face. She walked out the door and closed it softly behind her. I sat on the floor in the secret passage and rocked myself back and forth. I was terrified and not having anyone else in here to keep me company only made me even more anxious.I heard screams outside the door and panicked. What if something happened to her?I coul
*Trigger Warning*Ava's POV"Happy Birthday to me" I said sarcastically to myself. There was nothing happy about my birthday. It was just another reminder to remind me that I got to live and my mom didn't. I had no one to celebrate with. I had no friends or family. I was just a girl staying in a pack surrounded by people that wanted nothing to do with her.My life was pathetic. I was pathetic. My life was so messed up. I felt broken and dead inside like there was nothing left for me in this world, and there truly was nothing left for me.Sometimes I felt like I didn't deserve to be alive. I know that if she was here she would comfort me and tell me it wasn't my fault. No matter how many times I tried to reassure myself th
Ava's POV "What?" I asked, coming out of my daze as his words registered in my brain. "I am not yours. Get the hell off me, you perv" I said trying to shove him off me. This seemed to anger him, because before I knew it he pinned my hands above my head. He gave me a murderous glare and spoke again. "You are MINE! Whether you like it or not... Mate" he gritted out in annoyance. I froze when he said the word 'mate'. He was my mate? I was his mate? Now it was starting to make sense. I knew that there was something familiar about him, and also the fact that I felt safe and warm in his arms. His smell was intoxicating and addicting. He smelt like the woods, with a bit of vanilla. If his smell and comfort wasn't enough, then the sparks that shot up my arms, where he was holding me should be enough proof. I felt a warm tingly sensation in the pit of my stomach as a shiver went up my spine. There was a voice inside my head chanting the word 'mate'. It was faint, but it was still there w
Ava's POVI was still in the room that my asshole of a mate left me in. Not having anything else to do, I stood to my feet and took a look around. The room looked like it belonged to a male and if the smell was anything to go by, then this was his room. The only colors I could see were grey and black. He did not like color at all. His room looked so depressing, like there wasn't any personal touch to it. He just had everything he needed and added a few abstract paintings. This room might have looked depressing, but it was nowhere close to how depressing my 'room' was. It was the nicest room I have ever had the pleasure of being in that I did not have to clean."Hi" I heard a voice and turned around to the doorway. I didn't even realize that someone had entered the room until now.

Ava's POV"They're coming"We didn't have time to react or prepare as an army of wolves charged in our direction. I saw a bright flash of yellow from the distance heading towards me, but due to shock I was rooted in my position. I couldn't move, I didn't even blink as the yellow glow came right for me.Instead I closed my eyes and waited for the impact, and when I felt none, I opened my eyes. The yellow glow was gone, it didn't hit me.But how? That's when I heard it. I heard someone groaning on the ground in pain. I cast my eyes downward and away from the chaos to focus on an injured Jayden.Just like last time, there was a big hole in his shirt where the energy burned through. The only diffe
Ava's POV"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Ava... Happy birthday to you" Jayden sang, which was surprisingly good. Now this is a sight that I want to wake up to everyday. Jayden was holding a birthday cake in his hands with an apron wrapped around his waist, exposing his bare chest."Hey sweetheart, the cake is in my hands, but you can definitely have some of this later" he smirked, gesturing to himself.I didn't even realize that I was checking him out until he called me out on it."Who knew you could make baking look so sexy?" I responded in a seductive voice. His eyebrows rose in shock, as he looked at me, his mouth agape. Normally, I
Ava's POVBeep, beep, beep. What was making that annoying beeping sound? I thought as I groaned mentally wanting more than anything to destroy whatever was making that annoying sound.'Turn it off' I rasped out in a scratchy whisper."You're awake. You had us all worried there for a second." A pair of blue eyes appeared before me and I couldn't help but get lost in them.I slowly trailed my eyes over Jayden's face until I landed on his mouth. His mouth was moving, but for some reason no words were coming out.I felt a tingly sensation on my face as the sparks danced along my cheek. I turned my atten
Ava's POV"Breathe. Just breathe" I spoke slowly, comforting a panicked Katie. She was panicking, which made me panic, because I had no idea what to do. I've never been in a situation like this before, and I was truly terrified."You try breathing when-" she screeched. She cut herself off, screaming in pain.By now we have drawn a small crowd around us, with people looking on worriedly. I have tried to get her up from the bench, but each time she would yell at me that she couldn't move. Her face was scrunched up in pain, her eyebrows drawn together as she looked at me with tears glistening in her eyes."Do you need any help?" an elderly woman stepped forward.
Ava's POV"Is there anything that you'd like to tell me?" Jayden asked, looking at me with raised eyebrows."Um, no" I replied confused"Really?" He asked again, looking unconvinced."We're out of milk" I stated my answer as more of a question."So, there's nothing that you have to tell me?" He asked once more."I think we're out of eggs too" I said, stuffing my mouth with pancake."Is that all?""Mhm" I hummed with my mouth full of pancake."Alright, I'll see you later" he came over to me and pecked my lips.He pla
