Chapter Thirty Two: Full Moon

I excused myself from Luna Esmeralda, another friend of my father’s, promising to catch up later with her again, even though I didn’t intend to come back. Lady Esmeralda was the only guest who didn't seem to regard me with skepticism regarding my upcoming role as the first female Alpha of our pack, and her genuine support had eased some of the tension that had been building inside me throughout the evening.

I quickly made my way to the crowded bar to get a glass of water since my throat was already dry. I smiled and nodded at a few guests as I approached the bar, grateful for the occasional respite.

There was a tense atmosphere in the room as the scent of various wolves mixed with the anticipation in the air.
