Nora’s POV

My cake sat untouched on the kitchen counter as I stared out in the open. All through the night, I have been thinking about what Michael said. Truly, he had a point, but that does not negate the fact that maybe Jake has changed.

I put the phone in my ears, and it has been saying the same thing over and over again.

“The number you are trying to call is not available; please try again later.”

I dropped the phone and stood. “Where is Claire when you need her?” I muttered. I stood up and went to my room.

I sat on the bed and began to think. What if Michael was wrong? I mean, I know that I should be careful around Jake, but people change. I am a person who truly believes that everyone deserves a second chance. As hard as it may look, even Jake deserved the second chance.

I said try to call Claire one more time, and Dylan ran into my room.

"Mummy, someone has invited me for a party!” Dylan ran. Into my room.

“I’m so sorry, Miss. Nora, he just ran straight here,” Anna said in betw

Jake’s POVTwo days earlierMoonlight spilled through the dense canopy, casting an inappropriate glow on a secluded area in my room. I awaited my physiotherapist, Claire. Anger burned through my heart as I recalled that night. I scrunched up the glass in my hands. Blood was everywhere."Asshole,” I spat. Curses erupted from my lips like a tempest, a storm of resentment. Michael had outmaneuvered me in that fight, leaving me feeling humiliated and powerless. The bitterness stung, a sour taste that lingered with each venomous word he uttered.“I could not believe that I had walked into Michael’s trap. In my rage and attempt to pull him down, I ended up being the one on the floor."He thinks they can trample over me? Over my weakness? I growled. I was pacing the room like a caged tiger. The walls absorbed the echoes of his frustration, as if bearing witness to the unraveling of a wounded ego.I replayed the scenes—the undermining comments in the meeting, the horrible ideas for the ball p

Claire’s POVI heard a sharp knock on the door. Oh my God, he’s here. I took a deep breath as I assessed my apartment one more time. I couldn’t make a quick dash to my bedroom mirror. I hoped I looked good after all that effort.I breathed in and walked to the door, but with a racing heart, cold hands, and an aft smile on my face.I opened the door. "Hi, come on in,” I said, smiling. Oh my gosh, he was so tall. My apartment dwarfed this handsome alpha. I can’t believe I snagged myself an Alpha. Not just an Alpha, but a rival one. That was brave of me. I mentally patted myself on the back.“Welcome to my humble abode,” I said with a nervous laugh as I moved aside for him to come. He didn’t move. That was strange.“Hello?” I asked him as he just stared at me. It felt like he had just gone blank. I had to wave my hands again before he came to me."Hello, are you okay?” I asked him. He looked at me as if he were thoughtful before he spoke."Breath-taking,” he said. “That is what you are."

Nora’s POV"Shit! Shit! Shit!” I slept in. It was Dylan’s big day; he was part of a recital today. I needed to get him ready. He had been talking about this all through the week. It would break his heart if we were late.Immediately, I ran downstairs to see a scowling Dylan. He frowned at me, and with just one look, I ran back upstairs and jumped into the shower. I agree; I was in the wrong. His feelings were valid. I had stayed up all night talking to Claire.“Why didn’t you tell me about your new job?’ I asked. She coughed and hesitated for a second. “I didn’t know how you would take it,” Claire said.“Come on, Claire, you are my best friend; you are like a sister to me. I would not keep such a secret from you; you know that."I scrolded her. She took in a deep breath.“I’m sorry, Nor. I didn’t mean to hurt you, okay?’I didn’t say anything. Claire was not telling me anything. She was too chill."Nora, are you there?’ She asked, and I nodded.“Hmm”“Have you forgiven me?” she asked.

Nora’s POVJust as I expected, Jake was at the door of the house. He had promised that he would come. He was already in the sitting room waiting, as the guard had told me.“You are early,” I commented. “Do you want to join me for breakfast?" I asked, and he shook his head, smiling.“I ate to my satisfaction. They made lentil soup.” I stopped mid-way to the dining area. Lentil soup was my favorite. It’s been years since I had it. The Nexton pack never grew lentils because it wasn’t actually fertile.“What did you say?” I spun around.“I said I ate lentil soup. His eyes widened. “Oh sh*t, Nora, I didn’t know you hadn’t had it all these years. I—“ I raised my hand to him.“It is okay.” I narrowed my eyes at him. Was he trying to trigger me? I ate my breakfast in total silence. There was a change in the atmosphere.“Are you regretting it?’ He asked as I sat, two seats away from him, in the sitting room.“Regret what?” I asked him almost immediately.“Forgive me,” he said. Claire’s POVFor the first time since I began to work in the hospital, I didn’t look forward to work. I checked into work and began to prepare."So, how was the weekend?” Lisa asked.“It was beautiful,” I said. Except that it didn’t end well. Jake suddenly disappeared.“Don’t you want to give me the specifics?” She winked, and I burst out laughing.“It’s nothing like that, Lisa.” I said this after I regained myself. The lady had a future in comedy. She loved to make jokes. I took up my phone and put it down. As much as I wanted to share with someone that I was seeing the Alpha of the viola packing, I couldn’t. It didn’t end well. It is such a pity that I cannot do those with Nora.“I see you checking your phone; are you expecting someone?” She asked, and I shook my head."Oh, it's nothing; I was waiting for a call from my brother.”“Oh, he better call; how dare he keep you waiting?” and I began to laugh. What made it all funny was that I didn’t even have a brother. I was an only chil

Michael’s POVThe night had just taken a sudden turn. A bad one, actually. My mood soured, and I wanted to puke.WHAT?With the news from Mia, we got to hear that the volcano pack was under attack.“Have you tried calling Marcel?” Hercules asked me.“His number is not going,” Zen flashed on the phone screen at us. I hissed. How could this have happened? I thought we had made sure it was not secure.“Tell the guards not to let Mia out of the pack,” I commanded. By then, we had gotten to the route to the volcano pack. I asked my men to wait for us. We drove till it was midnight. Then Zen suggested that we rest. We needed to know what was ahead of us.*****************************“We camp here for the night!” Hercules commanded. We have been marching since. The road to the dwelling of the volcano pack wasn’t this far, but due to the fact that we wanted to come unannounced, we needed to not make much noise.“Agnar, we will leave at sunrise,” Hercules told me, and I nodded. Mia’s POVI first heard the news of the attack on my pack while I was out in a shop.“I like that shirt; it looks good on you,” one said."Nah, I don’t think so; I think it attacks you,” they burst out laughing."I don’t think you can describe it like that,” the other said.“Like what? It’s the truth. So speaking of attacks, I have been told that some rogues have attacked the Volcan pack.”"Oh, it’s a pity; he was made Alpha just recently.”“I think we are allies with them. Our Alpha would help them out.”“I heard he has Marcel’s sister in his close circle,” she said.“She is the advisor; I heard her sound."I flung my bag away and began to rummage through my bag for my phone. At this moment, I might be Michael’s advisor, but no one would advise me to be calm. And there was nothing calm about me.After that call, I went on a call and then saw Nora. ******************************My heart beat the fastest as I sat in my room.I have tried being calm, as Michael commanded, but it i

Michael’s POVWe began to gather the dead among the living. Cleaning the land. Then a car had just arrived to transport the dead when I sighted Zen. I beckoned for him to come.“Have you told them to get ready?” I asked Zen."Yes, your highness."We got into the car, and we left the burial. It would take place in the city council. All werewolves were invited.“Mia?” I asked.“Your Highness, from what I learned, she hasn’t left her room since yesterday,” he said. I nodded as I wondered which words I would use to console Mia. I exhausted most of them when her parents died. Before the moon, we were already on our way to the pack. Hercules has been acting strange. He hadn’t said a word since we found Marcel dead."Hey,” I nudged him, and his eyes turned to me. The sadness in his eyes was evident."It's going to be alright,” I said. He nodded and continued, staring out in the open. He was just like a zombie.By the time I got to the pack, the car had arrived, carrying the bodies of the sla

But at a slow pace, “please hold her,” I handed Danielle to her father.Today was a game day for Dylan. He had begged us all to come. And when I mean all, I mean me, Michael, Hercules, Mia, Malia, and Zen.Michael cleared his schedule, and for the others, they didn’t have much to do in the park. I was also lucky that my 1-year-old daughter was not fussy today.A lot has happened since I got married to Michael. After I was made Luna, my previous pack came to apologize for some of the things they had done to me. I forgave them. Michael had pity on them; instead of taking ownership of the pack, he made one of them an Alpha, and the moon goddess did the choosing. Hercules and Mia had their child, Arla. Four years ago, she was the most beautiful child I had ever had. She keeps Hercules on his toes, just like her mother. As for Zen, Malia is 5 months old. We also cannot wai

Nora’s POV6 days later.I was woken up by a pesky mosquito that wouldn’t stop screaming in my ear, no matter how I tried to swat it away sleepily. It was on my third attempt that I mistakenly smacked myself across the face. I felt an excruciating pain in my head.“Aargh!!!” I cried. It was then that I took in my environment. I recognized the room. I tried to move more, but I couldn’t. I realized there was an IV drip connected to my wrist."Guys, she’s up,” I heard someone say from outside of the room. Then they all come in. Malia, Zen, Hercules, and Mia. They had a huge grin on their faces.“Hi guys,” I smiled back. “Where is Michael?’’ I blurted. They all turned their gazes to the side, and there he was. Sleeping on a small cushion. He was a giant in that chair."Aww,” my heart melted. The girls chuckled as the guys laughed. I think that was what woke him up. He stirred around and was about to fall off the chair, but he caught himself. He peaked an eye open as he stared at everyone’

Michael’s POVAll through the night, I felt like someone was calling out to me. My wolf was awakened. I had to do something to calm him down. I had to go towards where I heard that voice. I stood up and began to walk.“Where are you going?” Hercules turned to me. Someone was going into the underground house. The one we saw Zen go into last night.“I need to go in,” I said as I began pacing.“If you do, we would get caught. We still have no plans yet,” Hercules said. I nodded. He had a point, but the longer I stayed without going towards where my wolf was leading me, the more agitated I was. I kept pacing till I had it up to here."Okay, fuck this shit! I need to go inside. Now this is the plan. Once I go in and make sure the coast is clear, I howl out to you guys,” and with that, I left. The moment I walked into the house and found someone kicking Nora to the ground and trying to claw Dylan on the throat, anger rose to my head, and I lost it. I jumped in the air and immediately transi

Nora’s POVThe first thing I saw when I opened my eyes was a cat. It was staring intently at me, or rather, at me and Dylan. My heart began to race as I thought of what next to do. I wanted to scream, but then I remembered. I was not at home. I had been kidnapped. I stared at my lap, and there he was. Dylan. The son I thought I had lost. I fixed him properly on the carton we lay on and stretched my leg. When I turned back, the cat was gone. I breathed a sigh of relief. I wasn’t too sure of what the time was, but I think it was 4 a.m.ish. I was up, and I couldn’t sleep any more. So I stayed up, watching the sun rise from the little reflection of the sun in the small room.Sitting there, yesterday’s event rang fresh in my mind. I was this close to getting killed. I feared for my life and that of Dylan. Zen looked hell-bent on exacting his revenge on Michael. My eyes went to the door. What if he still tries to kill me again? What am I going to do? I sighed and began to bite my nails. Wha

  • The Alpha Rejected Second Chance Mate    CHAPTER 148

Mia’s POVThe next thing I know, I am being dragged out of the car, and the car zooms off. I turn my head around. No one was in sight. All I could see were trees and grasses. Tears began to well up in my eyes. Where am I? I stood up and limped to a corner. It was an abandoned building. I took shelter under it. Not wanting to go in, danger might be lurking, or you might stand outside the building for fear of being attacked. My legs were swollen. Partly because of my pregnancy and also because they made me walk half the way. I squinted. I saw no one. Just then, a car sped past me.Wait, was that Nora? Yes, that was Nora. Immediately, I began to jump.“Nora!” I ran after the car, and just before I rounded the corner, I bumped into someone.“Watch where—“wait a minute. I knew that smell came from somewhere. Hercules? I looked up, and it was him. I jumped on him, screaming and crying. Hercules kept wiping my tears. I tried to speak, but he put his hand on my lips.“It’s you. It’s really you

  • The Alpha Rejected Second Chance Mate    CHAPTER 147

Nora’s POVMy heart raced at the thought of what had just happened. I had been forcibly dragged into the backseat of a car, my screams muffled by a hand over my mouth. Panic surged through my veins, and my mind was a whirlwind of fear and confusion. I struggled against my captors, but their grip on me was firm."Let me go! Help! Someone, please!" I cried out, and my voice choked with terror. Oh no. This was all shades of wrong. And so go all our plans and what-ifs. Nothing matters now."Shut up, you little brat!" one of the kidnappers growled, his voice harsh and menacing. "You're coming with us, whether you like it or not."My eyes darted around the dimly lit interior of the car, searching desperately for a way to escape. But the windows were locked, and the doors were sealed shut. I felt trapped, helpless, and utterly alone. I wanted to cry, but I blinked back my tears. It was as if I had left all my courage and determination on the ground while being shoved into the car.As the car

Nora’s POVImmediately, sleep vanished from my eyes. I blinked a couple of times before it all seemed so real.A letter for me.That could be the answer to my questions. My closure. Was my Dylan dead? Is this a torture letter? Maybe they have a picture of my dead son. Oh, Zen’s brother, you must hate Michael so much. So much that he had to hurt a child to drive home a point. My heart stomped in my chest. Maybe it would not be a good idea to open it yet.The letter trembled in my hands as I stared at it. I stared so long at it that it began to look like another object. I put the letter in my other hand as I rubbed the clammy, shaky one on my dress. Suddenly, everything had changed. The memories of the previous night with Michael.I looked from Michael to the letter. It might look like some piece of paper, but to me, it was as heavy as a rock. Was it blank like the last time, or does it mean my son is still alive? My Dylan.“I... I think I should open it." I looked at Michael. He nodded

He glared at the Eleanor girl. She ducked. I told her to stand aside.“Tell me what you know," I said. She looked scared.“Some days ago, I saw Nyla leave the pack.”“Nyla?” I asked, and she nodded.I always knew that girl had something to hide. “Go on!"“She was headed towards the side of the white oak forest. I told Luna... I mean Miss Nora. Then, later, after the attack, when we were saved, she was angry. I decided to follow her. It was there I saw Zen.” My eyes widened.“You did?” she nodded.“Are you sure? Did you take pictures?” She shook her head, and all my hopes fell.“Then, your highness, I had told Miss Mia abo
