Chapter Thirty-Nine

2022-03-18 07:45:52After everything had been cleaned and escorted back to their homes and barracks< I made my way home, making sure Gram and Gigi got some rest before heading into my home office with Kane, Magnus, Cadmus, Laris, Alaric and Elle. Tristan was out leading patrols with Ezra and Echo who had been appointed as my lead warriors. They were all making sure that the pack lands were fully covered as well as Brodryn and Blaze doing aerial patrols to see if they could find anything the wolves missed.
I sat in my office and looked at everyone gathered, sighing as I knew there were bound to be a lot of questions I’m not sure anyone had answers for. How could I answer any questions confidently when I was just as in the dark as they were. I wasn’t even sure there was a way to find answers, not if the council wasn’t willing to help.

Life became extremely hectic over the next month and it felt like there was no time to stop and take a breather. We hadn’t seen the black wolves at all for a month and it left us extremely nervous. Why the near-constant attacks and then just stop all of a sudden? It didn’t make sense. After they were gone, I took a shower and then decided to relax in a nice warm bubble bath. I woke in the morning feeling warm and secure, two sets of arms wrapped snugly around me with Kane’s face in my neck and Magnus’s in my hair. That couldn’t be comfortable. I walked into the suite and found my men lounging on the couch in a very relaxed and domesticated manner. Kane was just in sweats and he sat in the corner of the sectional going over a few papers from a folder, a small frown of concentration on his face. I looked around the space in awe, it was open concept and beautifully set up. There was a nice clean entranceway that opened up into a spacious living room with cream coloured couches, a navy blue coloured recliner chair, pale grey walls with one navy blue accent wall that was decorated with a collage, a large tv over an electric fireplace, and a huge window that overlooked the side of the house and it was a nice view. The kitchen was just to the side of the living room and it was amazing. The large stove, butcher block countertops, the stainless steel appliances and all the cabinetry were a nice navy blue colour with brass handles. It was to die for. I walked down the stairs with the bag slung over my shoulder and my shoes and a leather jacket in my hands. The plan was for us to fly to a rendezvous point, which was a decently rated motel, settle in for the night and once Echo got to us we’d leave in the truck in the morning.
