A Distance Apart

“He just asked if I was doing fine. He also asked about our lessons…” I replied.

“What did you tell him?” the prince asked.

“That everything is going fine and that he didn’t need to worry about me,” I replied.

Of course, I didn’t tell him what really happened the first time that Prince Leonard and I tried to have a proper lesson together. In fact, I would never tell a soul about that even if pressed to do so. Prince Leonard didn’t seem satisfied with the answers that I gave him; however, he decided not to press me any further.

‘Today we will be studying something about this country’s economy…’

My eyes widened when I realized that he had spoken inside of my head. This wasn’t the first time that he managed to invade my thoughts so easily, but I was far from accustomed to suddenly having our minds connect like that.

‘Ok…’

‘Are you surprised? Isn’t this ability just convenient? It seems like the effect still lasted since our lesson yesterday…’
