Adeline

Adeline

Aghhh! I whimpered a little. My head was pounding, it felt like I had ten heavy men digging into my skull. I tried shifting my head and adjusted it on the soft pillow for more comfort.

Wait a minute! Pilow?!! My eyes flew open immediately to a dark room. The sun had not fully risen and it was still dark. I squinted my eyes a bit trying to gather as much info about where I was without panic.

I'm in the Alpha's room

The realisation hit me fast, though it was still dark there was enough light courtesy of a soft candle for me to know that I was in his room.

What was I doing here? I wondered and on his bed? This had to be a trap!! I tried to get up but I was hit with a stabbing pain in my leg.

What the hell!!

I hissed and closed my eyes at the pain. I raised my head slowly to see my legs wrapped in a kind of cloth. I threw my head back on the pillow still wondering what I was doing here.

Wait, if I am here where is he? Almost immediately I felt a movement at the foot of

AdelineThe bell for breakfast rang not too long after and everyone ran out to the dining hall, there was an unspoken rule that if you were late for breakfast you could as well not have come cause the food would have finished. It was the survival of the fittest in here. My stomach chose to growl at that moment, I hadn't had a proper meal in a while and I was hungry but I knew I couldn't get to the dining hall on time. So I did the only thing I could; squeeze my eyes shut and hope the hunger passed. "Adeline! Adeline!!" I turned in my sleep, someone was shaking my shoulders gently. "I can't believe the Alpha could be this heartless," Caleb's angry voice filtered into my sleep.I opened my eyes grudgingly, sleep was the only way I could forget the hunger and pain I was feeling in that very moment."Adeline," Ella said in a rush, excitement filling her voice as she threw her arms around me and hugged me tightly."It's so good to see you again," she muttered into my neck her voice alre

CaddelIt had been almost a week since the incident with Adeline and I felt like everything was getting back to normal. Everything, except for the constant hints my mother kept throwing my way about the marriage conversation which I promised her we would have, life was going as it should. It was training day and my men and I were getting ready to spar with each other. I had received disturbing reports about the northern lands and the borders. Some of the werewolves which were regarded as those of the wild were causing problems. They were a group that was so averse to civilisation and preferred living in the wild than in structured houses, they claimed that werewolves weren't meant to be tamed. They could be regarded as rebels and though it pained me to wage war against my kind, it was needed for peace to reign. I had sent my brother Lucas to those lands for several peace talks but it seemed, that wasn't working as news of the clash continued to escalate. "The men are out on the fiel

  • The Alpha King's human redemption   Chapter one

Adeline I tried to hold onto the wall as the floor beneath me shifted; I took in deep breaths,, willing myself to stand for longer, my breaths came out in pant,s, and my sight got foggy. My head suddenly swam, and I felt the urge to throw up, except there was nothing to vomit; my stomach was empty. I hadn't eaten in three days, the little sneaky devil; Sarah and her minions had hidden my food because they were in charge of the cafeteria for the week; as usual, I had pretended not to care and held my head high each time I skipped at the table. The other slaves didn’t dare interfere, and I didn’t blame them; I was mostly hated in this part. Somehow these people blamed the fall of the human race on my tiny shoulders. My father, who was a werewolf hunter, had killed the former werewolf Alpha, causing the outbreak of the war. The werewolves had won the war subduing the entire human race. I closed my eyes to shake off the tiny black dots dancing in front of it, I couldn’t faint and

Caddel I hated being bothered with trivial matters; Angus, my aide and Beta had informed me about a case I had to preside over. A petty thief case. “Tell the judge to give her a punishment and let her go, Angus,” I said, irritation boiling over my skin; I rubbed my temples to get relief from the headache forming. “The girl pleaded not guilty,” “What! But you said she was caught redheaded, stealing,” “Yes, but she thinks it’s not a crime to steal,” Angus said annoyance written all over his face. “Who knows what next she would be stealing.” My face broke out into a smile, and I gave out a little laugh. “What?” I asked Angus Who was watching me in disbelief. “Don’t you find it amusing?” I asked him, but he simply shook his head in annoyance. Angus was my best friend and closer than my brother. He had been with me right from time and I appreciated him. “Let’s go see this girl who thinks stealing is not a crime,” I rose from my desk and closed the sheets I was drawi

  • The Alpha King's human redemption   Chapter Three

Adeline The Alpha announced his judgement, which was my execution and for a moment, I felt horrified, but then, I realised death was not a bad thing; it was going to be my passage away from the torment I had faced on this earth, and I would finally get to see my parents. I smile at the Alpha, for to him, it was the greatest punishment, but to me, he was saving me. I willingly gave the guards my hands, which they bound before they led me back to the cell. I awoke to voices I recognised as Caleb and Ella's. They were pleading with the guard at the entrance so they could see me. I am surprised he agreed, as the door creaks and opens, letting in a little light. The guard led them to my cell, “You have twenty minutes," he said in a gruff voice before he opened the iron door to my cell. Ella rushed in and fell at my side, enveloping me in a hug while she began to cry. I tried to comfort her, but she cried louder; feeling embarrassed, I looked up at Caleb, who was standing awkwa

My hair was dishevelled from all the tossing and turning from the previous night; I had barely gotten any sleep. My wolf and I had been restless throughout the entire night, my mind had kept drifting to the slave girl from earlier. I couldn’t explain why I felt a deep connection to her. I knew this was the way a wolf should feel after meeting his mate, I had felt the exact way when I had met Ruby and discovered she was my mate. Ruby’s scent had been floral and vanilla. She had been the most beautiful female I had ever laid eyes on and we had fallen in love instantly with each other. My world had stopped when her body was brought home alongside that of my father. Adeline The guard had placed my head on the wood, I closed my eyes tightly as I made peace with death and waited patiently for when the cold metal would touch my skin. A single tear dropped out of my eye and I closed them finally. When I heard the order, at first, it sounded so far away, but when the axe landed beside me, my eyes flew open to see the Alpha standing in the crowd, and we just stared at each other. I felt a pull, so strong in my chest toward him. The air between us was so charged that though he stood a few meters away from where I was kneeling, I felt him so close to me. My mind was blank while we continued to just stare at each other. The expression on his face was so intense like he wanted to possess me, as if I was the long-lost treasure he had been looking for. CaddelI dashed towards the torture chamber as quickly as my feet could carry me with my guards hot on my heels. I attempted to connect with her screams but was met with silence. My heart rate increased as I wondered what had gone wrong; I sent a silent prayer to the goddess; I hoped she was still alive.“Alpha" a young guard at the torture room door bowed in greeting. "Open the door!" I ordered him hurriedly, but the guard did not budge; instead, he looked at me confused. “Now!!” I thundered before he scurried around to unlatch the door locks.I ran into the room and let out a horrified gasp“Is she dead?” I asked no one in particular while I took gentle steps toward her. Fear gripped my heart like a vice, and it thundered in my ear."She has just passed out; she thought she was a tough cookie, but as soon as the hot iron touched her, she passed out." A grim-looking guard answered with a mocking laugh while the others joined him in the laughter.I shot them an annoyed look

ADELINE “Your father was a heartless man, and I am going to make you pay,” The alpha said, stopping in front of me; he was so close I could perceive the raw maleness exuding from him. He put his hand under my chin and raised my head to meet his eyes; we stared at each other. My eyes widened at the amount of hate and disgust I saw within the depths of his, but there was another emotion within them: lust. His eyes travelled to my lips as if he was tracing the lines on them, I swallowed nervously while I continued to watch him. His pupils dilated, and for a moment, I thought he would kiss me. I closed my eyes in anticipation of the kiss, but he let me go, taking his warmness as well. I brought my hands to my cheek to calm the hotness there while I chided myself mentally for even harbouring the thought of kissing my enemy. His face twisted in contempt as he sneered at me “ Your father was a monster.” My eyes flashed with anger "My father was a hero. He protected people from
