MAXIMUS

The frustration and rage consuming my whole being were capable of tearing me apart. I barely slept, barely ate—all I could think about was Starlette and what she was going through at the moment. I still hadn’t found her nor any clue that could lead us to her. I was filled with regret. I should’ve insisted on following her; that way, I would have been able to protect her. Instead, I trusted her words that she would be okay and allowed her to go alone with the warriors. I was the greatest fool ever.

Everyone had been trying their best to find her. Amelia couldn’t locate her through the spell, and that only made me more scared. Whoever took her had cloaked her. And that confirmed my suspicion—it was definitely the witch working in collaboration with her father, Isaac. Despite the intense interrogations, Isaac refused to confess.

Even though the torture was extreme, driving him to the brink of death at times, he still wouldn’t admit anything. He had been transferred to the dungeon

MAXIMUS“What?!” I exclaimed, narrowing my eyes, trying to understand what Bella had just told me.“She is pregnant. And she is in her third trimester already,” she repeated firmly.I shook my head, trying to make sense of what she was saying. But it didn’t make one bit of sense. If she was in her third trimester, she would have been heavily pregnant. But she wasn’t. In fact, her stomach was as flat as ever before she left this pack.“This is not the time for jokes, Bella,” I hissed. “Please leave if you have nothing serious to say. Do not infuriate me!”“The baby is hiding itself to protect itself; that’s why she isn’t showing yet,” she said firmly, unwavering in her claims. She looked into my eyes, stating firmly, “Starlette is pregnant.”I narrowed my eyes at her, and she remained unmoving, refusing to back down from her claims. Bella would never lie to me for fun, would she? Especially in this critical moment. As the realization dawned, my stomach tightened, anxiety coursing throu

STARLETTEShoot me! I groaned internally as I recoiled. Silas had caught me, and with that, all hope of ever leaving this place shattered. My chance to escape might never come again.“Shift!” he commanded, and as much as I would have loved to disobey him, I knew it was over, and I had better just do as he said. So, regrettably, I shifted back to my human form. One of his men handed him a blanket, and he wasted no time wrapping it around me and scooping me into his arms.“I must admit,” he whispered in a way only I could hear, “you are drop-dead gorgeous. I can’t wait to fuck you until you can't walk anymore.”“You dream too much, and those dreams will never come true. Not in this lifetime, not in the next,” I spat.He grinned wickedly. “We’ll see.”He seemed so sure that I would eventually give in. What a retard. He took me to the room I had been kept in before and carefully laid me on the bed.Staring down at me, he muttered, “I should be angry, but you are pretty, so I won’t. But ne

STARLETTEOnce we were in Sandra’s room, I shut the door and locked it so the jobless guards following me wouldn’t come inside.“Sandra!” I called sternly as I turned to face her. “Is this really how you want to live your life forever? Is this the kind of environment you want your kids to grow up in? A place where they witness their father abusing their mother day after day? What do you think that will do to their mental health? Even if you’re strong enough to endure it, do you think your children could handle it?”She shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes. “I don’t want things to remain this way forever.”“Then why won’t you dump his ass and get as far away from this place as possible?”“He might... he might change. He wasn’t always like this. I still—”“Change?” I interjected, staring at her in disbelief. I couldn’t let her finish those infuriating words. Silas had no redeeming qualities. What kind of man would slap his Luna, let alone beat her?“What else does he do to you?”

STARLETTEThe four bodyguards trailed me closely as I left the room. Changing into a female soldier’s uniform was no longer a viable option, so I needed to devise a smarter plan to escape. My mind raced, searching desperately for a solution. Then I remembered the alarm system installed throughout the pack house. I hadn’t been explicitly told its purpose, but I knew it was for emergencies—whether fires or rogue attacks. My only chance of escaping now depended on creating chaos in the pack; only then would I be able to slip out of the guards’ sight.Yes! That was the perfect plan, I thought. I sped down the corridor, my eyes scanning for one of the alarm systems. I was so focused on my search that I turned a corner and bumped into what felt like a wall. My heart rate quickened, knowing who it was before even raising my head to see his face. Silas.“Oh, my pretty girl,” his voice sounded as I felt his arm wrap around my waist. “Where were you rushing to?”“I was coming to look for you. G

MAXIMUS“Do you know why you are here?” I asked Maeve and Sabrina, looking at them dangerously. They shook their heads vigorously, their fear evident. “No,” their voices shook.“If your father hasn’t told you, then I will. He kidnapped your sister, Starlette, and killed all the warriors sent to escort her. Now, I want him to tell me where he has kept Starlette or reveal his accomplices. He refuses. And you know—” I slowly unlocked the cell gate, opening it. They veered backward, trembling as I walked in. “Starlette is my mate, and I would do anything to find her.”“Do not touch my daughters!” Isaac screamed from behind. “Please!”My gaze snapped to him, cold and unforgiving. “Does that mean you’re ready to talk?”He pressed his lips together, nothing but silence filling the air.“No,” I answered for him, then returned my gaze to the two girls. “Ask your father to tell me where she is so that you don’t have to suffer for his sins.”“Father, please,” one of them cried. “Please, just tel

STARLETTEFrom the book I had read about the Invisibles, I learned their power was tied to a burning candle. If the candle were extinguished, their invisibility would cease. I had a strong suspicion that the candle burning on the stone before me was the very source of their power. Its presence here, in Silas’ pack, could mean only one thing—Silas was the mastermind we had been hunting all along. And the red-haired witch we encountered the other day was none other than Lila.I moved closer to the candle, determined to snuff it out, when a sharp voice cut through the air.“What are you doing here?”I snapped my gaze to the side to find Lila standing there, rage burning in her eyes.“You!” I growled, baring my canines. “You control the Invisibles. Gabriel is your father!”She tilted her head to the side as she continued staring at me. “Looks like Silas let his pet wander too far.”“To what end?” I growled, fire burning within me. “Why do you keep attacking my pack?”“Because I want to ta

MAXIMUSAfter putting two and two together, I knew immediately that Silas had paid Isaac to lure his daughter out of my pack. That man was greedy and wouldn’t mind trading his daughter’s life for money. And Silas? The bastard played me, and he would pay with his life. I should have realized from the start that Lila was the witch since she was also a redhead. But that suspicion never crossed my mind because I thought we all had the same goal—putting an end to the invisibles. I never knew they were the culprits we had been looking for all along, hidden in plain sight.I rushed to the dungeon to get confirmation from Isaac. The moment I entered, Maeve and Sabrina whimpered, their bodies trembling in fear. But I ignored them. I wasn’t there for them.“Isaac!” I roared, unlocking the gate and marching into the cell. He recoiled, fear evident in his eyes. “You sold Starlette to the southern Alpha King, Silas.”His face froze in shock, his guilty expression confirming my suspicions.“Speak!”

STARLETTE“Now, you want to rape me?” I asked. “What happened to you wanting me to willingly give it to you?”“What?” His brows creased as he looked at me in confusion. “When I said force you, I meant force the answer out of you. Why did you say Lila seems to have her own agenda?”I breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the tension leave my body. He wasn’t going to rape me. “Get off me first,” I glared at him. “I can't tell you while you are on top of me.”He jumped off immediately, his eyes never leaving mine. “So, tell me. What did you mean by that?”I shrugged as I sat up. “I don’t know. Why did Gabriel and Lila agree to work with you? I don’t know what the reason was, but they must have their own motive.”“Gabriel had a motive, and that was why I got rid of him—with your and Maximus’s help, of course.”My forehead creased. “And Lila?”“What do you think? She just wants to be with me.” A smirk curved his lips, as if he truly believed what he was saying. “Everyone wants me, except you.

VIOLETNo doubt, I was attracted to Axel, but he was forbidden to me. I kept repeating that mantra in my head the entire way to the South. Sitting beside him in such close proximity made it really difficult for me to control my desire. It took everything in me not to throw myself at him. I asked him to park the car before we got to the pack’s border because I didn’t want my father knowing that Axel was the one who drove me here. “I’ll be right back,” I told him as I opened the door and jumped out of the car. “And I’ll be right here,” he replied with a grin. I walked towards the pack border, and the guards at the gate were surprised to see me. “We weren’t expecting you, Princess,” one of them said. “It’s an impromptu visit. I’ll be leaving soon. I believe the king is around, yes?” I asked. He nodded. “Yes, and welcome.” I made my way to the pack house afterward, going straight to my mother’s bedroom since she was the reason I was there. But she wasn’t there. Just as I

VIOLET Ring ring ring. The sound of my phone ringing woke me up from my deep sleep. I groggily reached for it from the nightstand, and without even glancing at the caller ID, I picked it up and placed the phone to my ear. “Hello…” my voice dragged into the phone. “Violet, dear, did I wake you up from sleep?” A familiar voice sounded from the other end of the line. “Mom?” I called. “I will call you back when—“ “No, it’s okay,” I said, wiping my eyes with the back of my hand and sitting up. “I’m up already.” “Happy birthday, darling!” she exclaimed enthusiastically. “Wishing you a long life and prosperity.” A smile curled on my lips as realization dawned on me. It was my birthday. “Thank you, Mom,” I replied with a smile on my face. “Are you sure you don’t want us to throw a party for you? If you change your mind—“ “Mom—“ I interjected. “You know how I am with parties. I hate them.” My parents had proposed throwing a birthday party for me here at school, and I ha

VIOLETThree hours of detention seemed like an eternity. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly hate this school more, I found myself trapped in yet another unbearable situation. I needed to get out of here, but that was just wishful thinking. My father wouldn’t let me leave until he accomplished whatever mysterious goal had led him to send me here in the first place. After we left the principal’s office, I quickly pulled out my phone and sent Zara a text, letting her know I wouldn’t be able to make it to practice. With a sigh, I shoved my phone back into my pocket and made my way to the library, where the other three were already seated around a single table.Axel sat directly across from me, making it nearly impossible not to look at him. The atmosphere was thick with tension, and for a long while, no one spoke until Emily broke the silence.“Axel,” she called, staring at him. “I’m sorry about the… inconvenience.”Axel didn’t even bother to lift his head, let alone respond to her,

. VIOLETAxel’s eyes blazed with fury as he lunged toward the boy and pushed him hard on the chest until he stumbled backward.“You are so dead!” the boy yelled, aiming to push Axel in return, but he dodged. Swinging around, Axel hooked his leg around the boy’s and knocked him to the floor.Just when Axel was about to jump on him, the boy sprang up and charged at Axel, wrapping his arm around his waist and pushing him down with him. But Axel was quick to react, rolling over until he was on top.“Wow!” A loud clap suddenly echoed, and I turned to see the trainer slowly walking into the middle of the circle that had already been formed by students. “That was a great demonstration of what you were taught. Excellent!”The crowd erupted in cheers, but it was obvious that Axel and whoever the boy was weren’t having it as they continued glaring at each other.“Enough!” the professor growled, gesturing for silence. The noise quickly died down, and he continued, “But that behavior isn’t allow

AXEL“Axel?” Aunt Amelia crossed her arms over her chest and tilted her head to the side.“Uhm…” I scratched the back of my head, thinking of what to say. “I— Uhm— was just serving justice.”“Elaborate,” Uncle Lucius chimed in.“Why are you guys here?” I quickly changed the subject.“Hmm-hmm.” Aunt Amelia shook her head. “You can’t do that here. Don’t change the subject.” She turned her attention to Mason. “Mason? I believe you’re a good boy, and you’ll talk.”Mason and I made eye contact, and we burst out laughing, knowing that Mason was way more stubborn than I was.“The thing is—Uhmm—” I scratched the bridge of my nose, deciding to tell them what happened. “Those boys did something terrible. They terribly assaulted one of my classmates, and because Emily was involved—”“Emily?” She cut me off, raising a brow. “The Eastern Princess?”“Yes.” I nodded before continuing. “Because she was involved, they were only suspended when they should have been expelled.”“Who’s this girl that was

Of course, the guards there stopped us from leaving."I was also suspended for one week and asked to go back home. And I’d like to leave with my friend here," I told them, hooking my arm around Mason’s shoulders."We were informed," one of them said, unmoving. "There are only three students who were asked to leave today with their parents. And you aren’t one of them.""There is something I must do. Can you just let us pass? We will be back before you know it," I pressed."Control their minds already. Why are you wasting time when there’s an easy way out?" Mason mind-linked me, his voice impatient."I like playing games, you know," I replied. But I had to do what I needed to do now before the boys’ parents started taking them out of the school. They were around already.Straightening my shoulders, I c

AXELWhen I arrived at the library, I spotted Emily browsing the tall shelves, her fingers trailing across the spines of the books.“Emily!” I called out, my voice booming as I strode toward her.“Oh, Axel,” she said, turning to face me with a wide, almost mischievous smile.“What did you do in Violet’s dorm room?” I growled, keeping my voice low but firm.“Oops,” she gasped dramatically, her hand flying to her chest as if she were truly shocked. “I got caught?”“Don’t play games with me, Emily. What did you do there?” I demanded, my patience wearing thin.“Axel.” Her expression suddenly turned serious. “What is it about her? She’s not prettier than me. Why do you seem to be so interested in her?”I raised my brow. “And who told you I was interested in her?”Confusion crossed her face. “I thought you were—”“What if I was?” I cut her off quickly.“I am just jealous,” she admitted. “When we were together, you never defined our relationship. I’ll deal with Emily myself,” I told Daisy before cutting off the mind-link.“Axel!” Indie called from behind, hurrying after me. “What happened? Where are you rushing off to?”I had almost forgotten I didn’t come here alone. Turning back, I stepped closer to her, planting an apologetic kiss on her cheek. “I’m sorry, Indie, but I have to go. Something’s come up.”“What’s going on?” she asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.“Bye,” I promptly said, intentionally ignoring her question, before turning around and whisking out of the arena. It seemed Emily wasn’t satisfied with getting away unscathed after what she did to Violet. AXELRage burned through me after Violet told me those things. Just when I thought I was getting somewhere with her, she tossed all my efforts away and demanded I stay away from her. That’s exactly what I would do. I’d ignore her until her eighteenth birthday, when she sees her wolf and the mate bond fully develops. Then, the tables would turn, and she’d beg to be with me. I wouldn’t take it easy on her.Staying away from lacrosse was like depriving my lungs of air. And now, thanks to Violet, I was stuck with another one-week suspension. I didn’t regret protecting her. I would do it over and over again, but that didn’t make her any less infuriating.Since I couldn’t play, I decided to at least watch practice. I hoped watching would ease the maddening itch to get back on the field. Indie accompanied me to the arena, and the moment we got there, my gaze met Violet’s, but I quickly looked away.“Okay, spill it,” Indie said as she plopped down on one of the stadium seats. “What’s going on
