VIOLET

My parents picked me up from my dorm room and drove me to the hall where the birthday party was being held—the very last place I wanted to be.

“Violet, darling. How is your first day at school so far?” my mother asked on our way, looking at me expectantly.

“Good,” I simply replied.

She raised her brow. “And your roommate?”

“She’s perfect,” I told her, looking away and peering through the window, hoping she’d drop the conversation. I wasn’t interested in small talk at the moment. I still hated that I had to come to this school and was being forced to attend the birthday party of that boy!

“I trust you’ll blend in perfectly,” Father added.

“Sure.”

We arrived at the venue, and they positioned me between them as we entered. The hall was so huge, filled with overdressed students and their equally overdressed parents, all wearing the same plastic smiles as they mingled. I hated going to functions like this, and I specifically hated being at this particular one.

As we ventured further into the hall, my eyes caught sight of someone, and I froze. The ever-arrogant Alpha prince. My gaze shifted to the girl standing next to him, registering the position the two of them were in. His arms were curled around her shoulders, pulling her in tightly. A strange feeling settled in my chest, and I had the sudden urge to rush over and yank his arm away from her. I closed my eyes, shaking that feeling off. What was wrong with me?

The next time I opened my eyes, he was standing in front of me, gripping my arm and attempting to drag me away.

I quickly caught my arm, glaring at him. “What do you think you are doing?” I hissed.

His expression faltered, confusion clouding his features. “You don’t feel—” He stopped mid-sentence, sighing as though realizing something.

Without another word, he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me with him again. I tried to wrest my hand free, but I couldn’t. He was just too strong.

“Leave me alone!” I yelled.

“What do you think you’re doing?” My father’s voice boomed as he stormed over, yanking Axel’s grip from my arm.

Axel’s eyes glowed red as he turned to look at my father, staring at him intently without saying a word. I knew immediately that he was controlling his mind.

“Yes. You can leave with her.” My father’s face suddenly relaxed, and that was the scariest thing I had ever seen. Axel Northwood really had psychic abilities. Dangerous.

“Axel Northwood!” The commanding voice of the school’s principal, Alpha Richard, cut through the tension as he stepped between us, his expression a mix of authority and anger. “What did we say about using your psychic abilities on school premises?”

Axel’s jaw tightened as he focused on the principal, clearly trying to control him. But the principal merely shook his head, unaffected. “You know that won’t work. I have since learned how to block you out of my mind. You are suspended from playing lacrosse for one week!”

“What?!” Axel exclaimed, genuine despair saturating his features. “You can’t do that. I can’t stay away from playing for one whole week.”

“If you can’t, then you’d better stop breaking the rules!” the principal stated firmly. “Now, apologize to the Alpha King.”

Axel turned to look at my father, reluctantly muttering, “I’m sorry.”

But Father wasn’t even paying attention to him. I trailed his line of sight to see him exchanging heated glares with the Northern Alpha King, none other than Axel’s father. The two of them had a terrible history and were sworn enemies.

Many years ago, before I was born, my father had kidnapped the Northern Luna Queen, a.k.a. the Mother Wolf. He’d intended to keep her for himself and sire a powerful heir. But fortunately for her and unfortunately for him, the Northern Alpha King rescued his Luna, not without having a near-death fight with my father. And according to witnesses, my father had been defeated, and the humiliation had fueled his rage ever since. So, yes, they had a tragic past.

I wondered why my father wanted to be here for Axel’s birthday party, though.

Slowly, the two Alpha Kings moved toward each other, their gazes holding a promise of death. Silence reigned, the room burning with tension.

“Alpha Kings.” The principal stepped between them, darting his gaze between the two of them, saving the day. “We have children present.”

Immediately, the two of them snapped out of it, but the promise of death remained in their eyes. After an intense moment of exchanging glares, the Northern King growled, “It is not over.”

With that, he turned away and walked back to his Luna, holding her in his arms to ease his tension. A bond my parents never shared.

I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I thought they were going to tear each other apart right here and right now. I mean, they would’ve if the principal hadn’t intervened.

Music suddenly echoed through the room, breaking the tension as the crowd began to disperse. A hand grabbed mine, and before I knew it, Axel was pulling me toward the dance floor. Not wanting to cause another scene, I quietly followed him.

“Dance with me,” he said, grinning as if the events of the past few minutes hadn’t happened.

Sighing, I nodded in agreement. “Fine. Only because I don’t want to draw any more attention.”

Wrapping his arm around my waist, he pulled me closer, whispering into my ear, “When is your birthday?”

Heat rushed to the pit of my stomach, all the nerves in my body surprisingly dancing at his touch. “What? How is that your business?”

“It’s my business because...” He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he nuzzled the crook of my neck. “…you’re my mate. And since I can’t play lacrosse because of you, you’ll have to keep me entertained whenever I’m bored. All through the week.”

My eyes widened in shock as I pushed him away.

“What?” I managed to choke out, staring at him in disbelief. “Mate?”

This couldn’t be happening. My worst nightmare.

DAISYEveryone focused their attention on me as I spoke.“So, with Axel’s psychic ability, he could actually read Gabriel’s mind,” I told them.“Gabriel is powerful. He would block me out of his mind,” Axel said, shaking his head.“Not if we catch him off guard. Gabriel wouldn’t be aware of his presence, and so his guard would be down. That’s when he would read his mind,” Gideon chimed in.“Brilliant idea. But how do we get Gabriel to show himself?” Alpha Theron spoke. “We have to come up with a plan.”“We lure him out,” I muttered, my eyes darting between all of them. “Gideon and my coronation ceremony was supposed to be in a few days but was postponed. What if we went ahead with the ceremony? Gabriel would definitely show up to cause chaos. That’s his forte. And that’s when we’ll strike.”My eyes rested on Alpha Theron. “What do you think?”He simply cleared his throat and nodded.I looked at Gideon, and he nodded.“I think that’s a good plan. Let’s just hope it works out,” Mother s

DAISYWith two pack members missing, despite one of them’s criminal history, the coronation ceremony had to be postponed. Finding them and Gabriel became the top priority. We couldn’t just raid the castle; we needed a plan. So, a few people were invited to the pack to discuss strategies.Mother, Lila,, the Northern Alpha King and his Luna—Axel and Violet. Then, from the Royal Moon Pack—I, Gideon, Alpha Theron, and Ethan. We all sat around the long table in the conference room.“Gabriel is really smart and calculative. Even when cloaked, he’d be aware of our presence. I suggest the best thing to do is hit him with the element of surprise,” Alpha Axel suggested, his eyes darting between all of us.“And what would that element of surprise be?” Gideon asked with a raised brow.“Bomb the place. I am sure the witches,” Axel looked between the three witches in the room, “would be able to send some explosives.”“No!” Mother objected without hesitation. “The forbidden castle holds a major hist

DAISYGabriel sure did enjoy playing games with us.He killed Malia just to take another of our prisoners.“That motherfucker!” Gideon growled, all the muscles in his body tightening.“She mentioned having a mother,” I quickly said.Gideon nodded.“Take me to her, please. I’ll try to use her blood to locate her daughter. Hopefully, we succeed,” I told him.The next moment, we were already on our way to the woman’s chambers, alongside Ethan, with one of the guards leading us there. But when we got there, the place was empty. There was no sign of the woman there.Gideon poured out orders through the mind-link, requesting an urgent search for the woman.Suspicions gripped me as we walked back to the main pack house.“Gabriel probably took her. He knew of the possibility of using the mother to locate the daughter, and he acted fast,” I voiced out my thoughts.“Why did he take the girl anyway?” Ethan asked, his brows narrowing as he continued. “I suspect he hired the girl to murder you.”“

DAISY “I am…” a profuse cough cut her off. “I am dying, Daisy. I need your help.” “What do you need?” I asked as I studied her. She looked really pitiful. “There’s a spell I need to cast, but I would need another witch,” she murmured. “What spell is that?” “I’ll show you…” she extended her hands for me to take. I was about to take it, but quickly withdrew my hand. “Why didn’t you contact my mom?” I asked her with narrowed eyes. Lila would’ve gone to my mom first if she needed help, not me. Something was suspicious about this. I couldn’t quite place it. She paused for a moment before coughing. “I was at her place. But… she was busy with your father. I didn’t want to disturb her, so I left.” My mom would’ve felt her presence, cloaked or not. Something was definitely fishy. Could this be the ulterior motive Gabriel had talked about? “What do you want?!” I growled, my expression shifting from pity to annoyance. “Believe me. I just need your help,” she took a step closer. “Why

DAISYThe widow’s breath was a very potent poison to witches. Its effect started within a few minutes of ingestion, escalating so fast that it killed whoever took it within seconds—unless the witch had the power to expel the poison before it took full effect.Who was trying to kill me?“Stay here. Do not go anywhere!” Gideon groaned as he quickly rushed toward the door. “I need to track her down before she also gets killed.”I waited anxiously inside the bedroom, pacing up and down, hoping the Omega who brought the food would be caught. Her confession would lead us to her master, and we would know who was trying to take my life.Gideon’s mind-link came through a few minutes later. “Found her. She was about to get slaughtered in the woods, but one of the patrols caught up.”“Where are you?” I quickly asked.“Dungeon,” he replied.Without another word, I rushed out of the room and headed to the dungeon. The girl was young—not more than twenty. She had lush brown hair, blue eyes, and a c

DAISYI totally regretted cutting it off from his wrist down. I should have severed his entire arms! Now we were fucking back to ground zero, and that frustrated every cell within my being.“How were you going to eliminate him?” I turned to Lila. “It seems you’ve been hiding a lot from us. What’s your ulterior motive? You’re playing us, aren’t you?”“No!” she retorted rather too quickly. “You trust that man?” she pointed at his dead body.“I do not trust him. And I do not trust you either. What are your ulterior motives? Why are you helping us?”“I already told you, Daisy. I do not have ulterior motives. And I am not going back and forth with you. I am out of here!” She turned to leave. But I angrily used my magic to hold her still, rooting her to the ground. She tried to move but couldn’t.She flicked her gaze back, shock in her eyes. “How are you able to do this? I cannot break through your magic.”“What are your ulterior motives?” I growled.“Daisy,” Mother quickly chimed in, “let
