VIOLET

My parents picked me up from my dorm room and drove me to the hall where the birthday party was being held—the very last place I wanted to be.

“Violet, darling. How is your first day at school so far?” my mother asked on our way, looking at me expectantly.

“Good,” I simply replied.

She raised her brow. “And your roommate?”

“She’s perfect,” I told her, looking away and peering through the window, hoping she’d drop the conversation. I wasn’t interested in small talk at the moment. I still hated that I had to come to this school and was being forced to attend the birthday party of that boy!

“I trust you’ll blend in perfectly,” Father added.

“Sure.”

We arrived at the venue, and they positioned me between them as we entered. The hall was so huge, filled with overdressed students and their equally overdressed parents, all wearing the same plastic smiles as they mingled. I hated going to functions like this, and I specifically hated being at this particular one.

As we ventured further into the hall, my eyes caught sight of someone, and I froze. The ever-arrogant Alpha prince. My gaze shifted to the girl standing next to him, registering the position the two of them were in. His arms were curled around her shoulders, pulling her in tightly. A strange feeling settled in my chest, and I had the sudden urge to rush over and yank his arm away from her. I closed my eyes, shaking that feeling off. What was wrong with me?

The next time I opened my eyes, he was standing in front of me, gripping my arm and attempting to drag me away.

I quickly caught my arm, glaring at him. “What do you think you are doing?” I hissed.

His expression faltered, confusion clouding his features. “You don’t feel—” He stopped mid-sentence, sighing as though realizing something.

Without another word, he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me with him again. I tried to wrest my hand free, but I couldn’t. He was just too strong.

“Leave me alone!” I yelled.

“What do you think you’re doing?” My father’s voice boomed as he stormed over, yanking Axel’s grip from my arm.

Axel’s eyes glowed red as he turned to look at my father, staring at him intently without saying a word. I knew immediately that he was controlling his mind.

“Yes. You can leave with her.” My father’s face suddenly relaxed, and that was the scariest thing I had ever seen. Axel Northwood really had psychic abilities. Dangerous.

“Axel Northwood!” The commanding voice of the school’s principal, Alpha Richard, cut through the tension as he stepped between us, his expression a mix of authority and anger. “What did we say about using your psychic abilities on school premises?”

Axel’s jaw tightened as he focused on the principal, clearly trying to control him. But the principal merely shook his head, unaffected. “You know that won’t work. I have since learned how to block you out of my mind. You are suspended from playing lacrosse for one week!”

“What?!” Axel exclaimed, genuine despair saturating his features. “You can’t do that. I can’t stay away from playing for one whole week.”

“If you can’t, then you’d better stop breaking the rules!” the principal stated firmly. “Now, apologize to the Alpha King.”

Axel turned to look at my father, reluctantly muttering, “I’m sorry.”

But Father wasn’t even paying attention to him. I trailed his line of sight to see him exchanging heated glares with the Northern Alpha King, none other than Axel’s father. The two of them had a terrible history and were sworn enemies.

Many years ago, before I was born, my father had kidnapped the Northern Luna Queen, a.k.a. the Mother Wolf. He’d intended to keep her for himself and sire a powerful heir. But fortunately for her and unfortunately for him, the Northern Alpha King rescued his Luna, not without having a near-death fight with my father. And according to witnesses, my father had been defeated, and the humiliation had fueled his rage ever since. So, yes, they had a tragic past.

I wondered why my father wanted to be here for Axel’s birthday party, though.

Slowly, the two Alpha Kings moved toward each other, their gazes holding a promise of death. Silence reigned, the room burning with tension.

“Alpha Kings.” The principal stepped between them, darting his gaze between the two of them, saving the day. “We have children present.”

Immediately, the two of them snapped out of it, but the promise of death remained in their eyes. After an intense moment of exchanging glares, the Northern King growled, “It is not over.”

With that, he turned away and walked back to his Luna, holding her in his arms to ease his tension. A bond my parents never shared.

I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I thought they were going to tear each other apart right here and right now. I mean, they would’ve if the principal hadn’t intervened.

Music suddenly echoed through the room, breaking the tension as the crowd began to disperse. A hand grabbed mine, and before I knew it, Axel was pulling me toward the dance floor. Not wanting to cause another scene, I quietly followed him.

“Dance with me,” he said, grinning as if the events of the past few minutes hadn’t happened.

Sighing, I nodded in agreement. “Fine. Only because I don’t want to draw any more attention.”

Wrapping his arm around my waist, he pulled me closer, whispering into my ear, “When is your birthday?”

Heat rushed to the pit of my stomach, all the nerves in my body surprisingly dancing at his touch. “What? How is that your business?”

“It’s my business because...” He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he nuzzled the crook of my neck. “…you’re my mate. And since I can’t play lacrosse because of you, you’ll have to keep me entertained whenever I’m bored. All through the week.”

My eyes widened in shock as I pushed him away.

“What?” I managed to choke out, staring at him in disbelief. “Mate?”

This couldn’t be happening. My worst nightmare.

DAISY“Pregnant?” I repeated.“Yes. I had suspected it, but I wanted to confirm it before telling you. I think I can sense another life growing inside us,” Kira said.An overwhelming sense of joy engulfed me. If we were truly pregnant, then I would be the happiest woman alive today. I needed to go to the hospital and get confirmation. With that, I dragged myself into the bathroom, took a shower, slipped into a floral maxi dress, and headed to the hospital to get confirmation from the doctor. My blood sample was taken, and the necessary tests were carried out while I waited in a private waiting area within the hospital.Several minutes later, the doctor returned with a white envelope, a wide smile spreading across his face.“Congratulations, Luna Queen. The pack’s heir is on the way!” he beamed.“Really?” My eyes widened as I snatched the envelope and pulled the sheet of paper out, reading the result. It said I tested positive for pregnancy. My lips spread into a big smile as I slipped

DAISYBack in the bedroom, the massive bed had been decorated beautifully. There were petals arranged in the shape of a heart on the bed, gift boxes placed on it, and balloons hanging from the ceiling. Petals and candles were scattered all over the floor.A wide smile spread across my lips.“Oh, shit!” Gideon groaned. “I forgot to ask the maids to light the candles on our way here. I had asked them to hold on.”“It’s fine,” a soft chuckle escaped me. “I can just do it.”My hand stretched forward, and I cast the spell that made fire light up the candles.A sense of satisfaction spread through me, not because I had lit the candles, but because I had done it successfully and effortlessly, without blowing up the entire building. I now had full control of my magic, even when it was at its peak.“Perks of having a witch by my side,” Gideon chuckled, and I winked at him.I ventured further into the room and sat by the bed to unbox my gifts. They were collections of bags, shoes, dresses, jewe

DAISY“Why would Lila help us?” I muttered as I slowly inched closer to my mate, took the note, and glanced at it.Before Gabriel’s death, she had betrayed us and given her loyalty to him. Unless...“Perhaps she never betrayed us after all. Maybe she just wanted to get close enough to him to attack him,” Mother voiced out my thoughts.“But she helped Gabriel torture me while I was in captivity. And she was there when he almost killed Violet. If she hadn’t betrayed us, then why didn’t she stop him? And why isn’t she coming out to explain now that Gabriel is dead, instead of slipping us a note with a spell?” I muttered. Before anyone could respond, I moved toward Violet and crouched beside her. “We can think about that later. Let’s worry about reviving Violet first.”I looked at the spell again to memorize it.“Are you sure it will work? What if the spell contains something that would make her condition worse? We cannot trust Lila.” Axel said.“I agree that we cannot trust Lila, but tha

DAISYViolet was taken into Gideon’s and my bedroom, where she was carefully laid on the floor. We all gathered around her—Mother, Father, Axel, Gideon, and me—fear creeping into our hearts. If this went wrong, then we would lose Violet forever.Gabriel was dead, but he still continued to terrorize us. For some reason, his death didn’t bring any sense of satisfaction. Gabriel was one of the most powerful witches on earth. He was of the witches’ royal blood, and on top of that, he performed dark magic. Could his death really be that easy?My subconscious sensed that something wasn’t right, but I quickly pushed that thought down. I was probably just paranoid, I told myself.“Are you sure this will work?” Axel asked. I had never seen so much fear in his eyes. He was terribly scared of losing his mate. So was I. Violet was my best friend, and losing her would crush me.With that fear lodged inside me, the confidence to carry out the spell started to weaken. I started having doubts. What i

GIDEON“Are they alive but unconscious, or dead?” I quickly asked the Soldier that came to inform me.Before he could even answer, I was already on my way back to the pack house. The pack was in chaos, with lots of screaming and wailing spreading through the area. About ten percent of my pack members had collapsed to the ground. Men, women, and even children.Something tightened in my chest at the sight.“Take them to the pack hospital now!” I instructed my soldiers, and they began lifting them off the ground and rushing them to the pack hospital. What the hell could be happening to them? Was there something in the food and drinks? Was it food poisoning?Daisy’s mother approached us, along with her father.“Where have you all been? We have been searching for you,” Amelia said.“Gabriel kidnapped Violet, but luckily, we were able to save her,” Daisy told her mother.“Oh, my...” she gasped. “Where is she now?”“Axel has taken her somewhere safe,” Daisy responded.Amelia sighed in relief

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   119| Something Strange.

DAISYWhen we got there, we found Gabriel, and he had already started slowly cutting through the skin on Violet's neck while she was still unconscious. Axel appeared out of nowhere, slamming his body against Gabriel and knocking him off her.Gabriel picked himself up immediately, his eyes burning with rage as he glared at Axel. "You do have some balls. I think I'll kill you instead of your mate. Being the most powerful Alpha doesn't make you untouchable.""Is killing people your hobby?" I growled. "Violet has done nothing to you, yet you want to kill her.""Actually," he flicked his gaze at me, "the plan is to kill the people you hold dear one by one until you surrender to me.""I will never let you hurt anyone I love!" I growled.Axel launched at him, changing into his wolf form midair and knocking Gabriel down. He tried to sink his fangs into his neck, but Gabriel cast a spell that sent him flying away, his body slamming against a tree."Today is the day you die, Gabriel," I growled
