VIOLET

My parents picked me up from my dorm room and drove me to the hall where the birthday party was being held—the very last place I wanted to be.

“Violet, darling. How is your first day at school so far?” my mother asked on our way, looking at me expectantly.

“Good,” I simply replied.

She raised her brow. “And your roommate?”

“She’s perfect,” I told her, looking away and peering through the window, hoping she’d drop the conversation. I wasn’t interested in small talk at the moment. I still hated that I had to come to this school and was being forced to attend the birthday party of that boy!

“I trust you’ll blend in perfectly,” Father added.

“Sure.”

We arrived at the venue, and they positioned me between them as we entered. The hall was so huge, filled with overdressed students and their equally overdressed parents, all wearing the same plastic smiles as they mingled. I hated going to functions like this, and I specifically hated being at this particular one.

As we ventured further into the hall, my eyes caught sight of someone, and I froze. The ever-arrogant Alpha prince. My gaze shifted to the girl standing next to him, registering the position the two of them were in. His arms were curled around her shoulders, pulling her in tightly. A strange feeling settled in my chest, and I had the sudden urge to rush over and yank his arm away from her. I closed my eyes, shaking that feeling off. What was wrong with me?

The next time I opened my eyes, he was standing in front of me, gripping my arm and attempting to drag me away.

I quickly caught my arm, glaring at him. “What do you think you are doing?” I hissed.

His expression faltered, confusion clouding his features. “You don’t feel—” He stopped mid-sentence, sighing as though realizing something.

Without another word, he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me with him again. I tried to wrest my hand free, but I couldn’t. He was just too strong.

“Leave me alone!” I yelled.

“What do you think you’re doing?” My father’s voice boomed as he stormed over, yanking Axel’s grip from my arm.

Axel’s eyes glowed red as he turned to look at my father, staring at him intently without saying a word. I knew immediately that he was controlling his mind.

“Yes. You can leave with her.” My father’s face suddenly relaxed, and that was the scariest thing I had ever seen. Axel Northwood really had psychic abilities. Dangerous.

“Axel Northwood!” The commanding voice of the school’s principal, Alpha Richard, cut through the tension as he stepped between us, his expression a mix of authority and anger. “What did we say about using your psychic abilities on school premises?”

Axel’s jaw tightened as he focused on the principal, clearly trying to control him. But the principal merely shook his head, unaffected. “You know that won’t work. I have since learned how to block you out of my mind. You are suspended from playing lacrosse for one week!”

“What?!” Axel exclaimed, genuine despair saturating his features. “You can’t do that. I can’t stay away from playing for one whole week.”

“If you can’t, then you’d better stop breaking the rules!” the principal stated firmly. “Now, apologize to the Alpha King.”

Axel turned to look at my father, reluctantly muttering, “I’m sorry.”

But Father wasn’t even paying attention to him. I trailed his line of sight to see him exchanging heated glares with the Northern Alpha King, none other than Axel’s father. The two of them had a terrible history and were sworn enemies.

Many years ago, before I was born, my father had kidnapped the Northern Luna Queen, a.k.a. the Mother Wolf. He’d intended to keep her for himself and sire a powerful heir. But fortunately for her and unfortunately for him, the Northern Alpha King rescued his Luna, not without having a near-death fight with my father. And according to witnesses, my father had been defeated, and the humiliation had fueled his rage ever since. So, yes, they had a tragic past.

I wondered why my father wanted to be here for Axel’s birthday party, though.

Slowly, the two Alpha Kings moved toward each other, their gazes holding a promise of death. Silence reigned, the room burning with tension.

“Alpha Kings.” The principal stepped between them, darting his gaze between the two of them, saving the day. “We have children present.”

Immediately, the two of them snapped out of it, but the promise of death remained in their eyes. After an intense moment of exchanging glares, the Northern King growled, “It is not over.”

With that, he turned away and walked back to his Luna, holding her in his arms to ease his tension. A bond my parents never shared.

I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. I thought they were going to tear each other apart right here and right now. I mean, they would’ve if the principal hadn’t intervened.

Music suddenly echoed through the room, breaking the tension as the crowd began to disperse. A hand grabbed mine, and before I knew it, Axel was pulling me toward the dance floor. Not wanting to cause another scene, I quietly followed him.

“Dance with me,” he said, grinning as if the events of the past few minutes hadn’t happened.

Sighing, I nodded in agreement. “Fine. Only because I don’t want to draw any more attention.”

Wrapping his arm around my waist, he pulled me closer, whispering into my ear, “When is your birthday?”

Heat rushed to the pit of my stomach, all the nerves in my body surprisingly dancing at his touch. “What? How is that your business?”

“It’s my business because...” He leaned closer, his lips brushing against my ear as he nuzzled the crook of my neck. “…you’re my mate. And since I can’t play lacrosse because of you, you’ll have to keep me entertained whenever I’m bored. All through the week.”

My eyes widened in shock as I pushed him away.

“What?” I managed to choke out, staring at him in disbelief. “Mate?”

This couldn’t be happening. My worst nightmare.

DAISY“You are dead!” Gideon growled as grabbed the rogue’s collar and jerked him up. His legs dangled in the air, fear evident in his features.“Please, Alpha. Please,” the rogue pleaded desperately, “please I am sorry. I beg you. Please.” “I am not the one you should be apologizing to!” Gideon growled, and suddenly, he released his grip on the rogue, causing him to crumple to the floor.“Now!” He added.“Please. Please. I am terribly sorry,” the rogue said desperately as he crawled towards me, “I didn’t mean to do it. It would never happen again. Please forgive me.”“Of course it will never happen again!” Gideon growled as he grabbed him and threw across the cell. His back hit the hard wall, collapsing to the floor. Gideon looked at me, “Daisy, please turn around.”I shook my head, “do not kill him. Yet. I need to get answers from him.”“I am not killing him. Turn around. Please.”As much as I wanted to defy him, I found myself turning around. The next thing I heard was the sound

DAISYI blinked repeatedly as I stared at Gideon in shock.“What did you just say?” I asked. He grinned widely, and placed a kiss on my lips.“I’m kidding,” he murmured with a teasing smile. “I just wish we were.” He tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and added, “You still haven’t told me why you won’t just reject Aldric.”I lifted a brow, “Now, why would I reject my mate?”“Because he’s a total jerk,” he flicked his gaze to the mark on my neck, and his face twisted into a hard frown, “your mate bond has literally rotted. You don’t want him.”“Now, why would you think I don’t want him?” I countered with a teasing smile.“You are here.” Was all that he said, before jamming my lips with his, engaging me in a quick sweet kiss. Pulling away, he continued, “you wouldn’t be if you did.”He was damn right. If Aldric hadn’t betrayed our mate bond, I wouldn’t have gone to that bar that night, and I wouldn’t have met Gideon. As much as I hated how Aldric treated me, I was growing to

DAISYGideon furrowed his brows, looking at me as if I had just spit nonsense. “No,” he said firmly, shaking his head, “I would never allow you to go down that dungeon. I’ll deal with it.”“Gideon please,” I said pleadingly, looking directly into his eyes, “Please.”He sighed heavily, raking his hand through his hair, “what do you even want to say to him?”“Get answers from him. Trust me. I need to see him,” I told him.He sighed again, a contemplative look in his eyes. After a moment, he finally nodded, “okay.” A small smile touched my face, “thank you.”As we continued staring at each other, sparks flied around us. My blood boiled with a burning desire, my body screaming at me to slam my lips against his lips.Damn. This was so frustrating. I hated that I felt so much for him. I was supposed to hate him so much that his presence disgusted me. Saving me from those rogues was not going to erase what he did to me from my mind. He fucking took advantage of me! Yet, as he leaned in t

DAISY “Violet,” I quickly called, but she didn’t even look at me, talk more of stopping.“Violet. Please!” I shouted. This time, she stopped in her tracks, her breaths heavy as she turned to look at me.“Just let it go please,” I told her pleadingly.“No, allow me to teach her a lesson,” Aldric groaned.“Shut up!” I exclaimed as I snapped my gaze at him. We all knew that he stood no chance against Violet. She was a Royal wolf, and royals were known to have strengths that superseded every other Alpha. As much as it would have been a pleasure to have her help me get rid of him, I didn’t want this to cause issues for her.The frown on his face deepened as he settled his gaze on me, “Daisy, you know I care about you, but that is no way to talk to your mate and your Alpha.”“Alpha my ass,” Violet muttered under her breath. He snapped his gaze at her, folding fists beside him.I exhaled sharply, “Please leave. I seriously need to rest.”He narrowed his eyes, “I came to visit you. Do you

  • The Alpha King’s Special Mate   22| Feral Look.

DAISYWhat was wrong? My magic was back. So, why wasn’t Kira? I swore I felt her just before I woke up.My chest tightened, dreading the possibility of never getting her back. I was dead scared that I would never get to know her or experience running in the woods in her form. “Have you shifted yet? What colour is she?” My father suddenly asked.“Uh?” I snapped my gaze at him, and swallowed hard.“You haven’t,” he deduced. Exhaling, he continued, “you should have by now. Shifting makes us stronger. It reveals our true potential as wolves. I am sure Kira is also dying to be released.”I swallowed hard again, and just nodded in response.“If you had already shifted, Kira would’ve used her Alpha powers to fight them off.” He continued. The first shift had to happen under the moonlight before we could shift freely afterward. That’s how it worked for every wolf.“Wolf or not. Her magic should’ve protected her. She’s powerful, and...” Mother started, but trailed off, pinning her eyes on me

GIDEONDamn it. I quickly jumped off the bed, and adjusted my shirt. He wasn’t supposed to see me like this, or hear that. Clearing my throat, I maintained my composure and tried to leave the room, but he grabbed my arm, holding me back.“Did I just hear you call her mate?” He asked, confusion saturating his features. “I didn’t,” I replied quickly, pulling my arm free from his grip.As I continued walking, his words caught me off guard, making me stop in my tracks.“Are you having an affair with my daughter?”I turned to look at him, the expression on my face blank. I didn’t know. Were we having an affair?“Because, I still can’t wrap my head around why you care so much about her. And now, I found you lying beside her, calling her your mate,” the frown on his face deepened. He shook his head, “no. That cannot be. She is mated. And I know my daughter. She’ll never do such a thing.”He knew nothing. “You are just a pervert!” he spat. He took a step closer, a very dark look cloude
