CHAPTER 129

Leila's POV

“Am I just anybody?” I asked, trying to contain the anger I felt within.

He did not even lift a glass of water to drink. Sadly I had not tampered with anything.

“The more you insist, the more suspicious you make yourself, so cut it. I won't eat or drink anything,” He sneered.

I laughed lightly. My laughing was more to calm me down and had nothing to do with what he said.

“Fine, if you say so,” I said and picked up a plate of grapes and helped myself to eat. He stared at me while I ate.

After a while, he rang the bell and a maid walked in. “Call me Winston,” He ordered and the maid bowed and left.

“I thought we agreed on no servants,” I asked after the maid left.

“I don't remember agreeing to such an absurd thing, but I do remember you being edgy with the servants around,” Marcus replied with so much composure.

I noticed how hard he tried to get me angry, but I refused to let him take the lead in a meeting I called for.
