Chapter XIX

I was still static, staring at Quanah without knowing what to say.

"What went through your head?" he insisted and I kept looking from Seth’s fallen body and back to him. He held my shoulders and shook me. "Bridget, look at me!"

"I don’t know! I don’t know!" I yelled at him. "I told Seth it might be dangerous, but he assured me that you had increased security and that the entire perimeter of the tribe was secure."

"What the fuck, you have no idea what happened here, do you?" he lifted Seth’s body over his shoulder, as if it weighed nothing and with an impulse he climbed half the hill.

I faced him from the end of the hill surprised at what he had done, but I was even more shocked that he was going to leave me there, just because he was angry with me.

I waited a few seconds and looked back where I was, the mud had already sunk my foot and I was still dirty and scratched.

I couldn’t believe it that he really left me there?

"You fucking asshole!" I screamed and started trying to move.
