The next thing I knew, I found myself laying on the lawn, naked. My head was still spinning when I looked around, seeing my dress shred on the floor.
"Kira!"
I could barely move I just lay there, staring at the night sky until Fenris' face showed up. He was looking so worried while my eyes were almost closing in heaviness. My breath would often be off and then come back for a minute, then off again.
"What happened, Kira?" He asked caressing my hair out of my face. I felt like I was staring at the stars through his eyes. Despite my weakening body and sight, I saw how light and beautiful his eyes were.
"Kira!"
I exhaled a large amount of breath before I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him down to me. My naked body felt the warmth of his skin but I didn't seem to mind. Finally, I felt safe. I was so scared a while ago and all I could think of was his name because I knew for a fact that I needed him.
I squeezed my eyes close letting the excess tears fall on my cheeks, squeezing my chest more.
"Kira," he whispered, letting me hug him tighter. "What happened? Why are you outside? Why are you naked?"
"Fen..." My heart twitched more. "I think... No, I'm sure... I transformed..." I gripped his body tighter. "I transformed into a werewolf... Oh my God, I thought I was gonna die."
I thought I wasn't gonna see him again and my family. It was terrifying.
"What? How come?" He looked up, melting my eyes as his pupils glittered with worries. "That didn't happen for centuries, Kira. All werewolves' first transformation always happens during Red Moon." He stroked his hair, looking more confused. "What the fuck is going on?" he uttered in wind.
"Fenris, it's a lot scarier than I thought... I don't think I can handle being a werewolf now. It's terrifying. My mind, I couldn't even read my mind like it formed a new identity inside me and I felt this pleasurable feeling to hunt a human. I don't wanna feel that ever again."
He hugged me again, a reassuring hug that everything was gonna be alright.
"It's normal to feel that, Kira." He kissed my forehead, making me feel the gentleness of him. "I'm sorry I wasn't around when it happened. I should have been by your side to help you to be less terrified. I'm sorry, but I promise... I won't let anything bad happen to you... What you felt while transforming is normal," he reassured me.
I gasped, feeling dizzier like I drained myself just from simply talking. I relaxed my head on the lawn, letting my eyes go to rest as they closed. I was big-time exhausted.
The next moment I opened my eyes, I was in a soft bed with the sunlight poking at my face through the window. I massaged my head, feeling a lot better but my back was still in ache.
I sighed in relief as I saw myself wearing clothes but my cheeks burned, thinking Fenris saw my whole naked body last night. I wondered if he judge my shape or if he even stared at it for longer with his gorgeous eyes glittering. I shook my head. Why am I even thinking about that?
"Kira, how are you?" Fenris walked inside my room, making my chest squirm. His existence truly was affecting me that much. I should start being careful, I never wanted to fall for him.
My brows crossed when I met the eyes of the man who stood beside him and stared at me, still laying on the bed. I sat, resting my back on the headboard. I stretched my body, still feeling some pain in my muscles.
"Better," I still didn't have much strength to utter words.
He nodded.
I looked back at the man, standing beside him; those silver eyes, right I remembered; he was Fenris' friend, the one I was supposed to meet yesterday.
They looked at each other while Fenris parted his lips, hesitating to say something. Gonzalo, as far as I remembered the name, shook his head, smirking playfully like they were talking through minds. It was unfair! I couldn't hear them.
Fenris cleared his throat. "By the way, Kira, this is Gonzalo Irving, the man I mentioned to you yesterday."
Gonzalo offered his big hand with his white teeth widely smiling. "Finally got the chance to meet you."
We shook our hands while I was looking at Fenris. I felt like there was still a thing that he wanted to tell me but he was contemplating.
"You seem in shock about everything huh." Gonzalo chuckled. He looked a lot more friendly than Fenris. His pinkish lips were always ready to smile with his dimples showing. His broad shoulders were the same as Fenris but still, Fenris was I bet one or two-inch taller than Gonzalo. "I heard you transformed into a werewolf, last night," he added.
My brows crossed at Fenris. "He knows?"
Fenris nodded.
"But I thought it's gonna be a secret between the both of us?" I asked.
"Oh, except Fenris couldn't hide a secret from me, right Alpha Fenris?"
Alpha. He was indeed an alpha; I got somehow intimidated but no, I shouldn't be washed off by that.
Fenris swallowed deeply before looking at Gonzalo. "Can you leave us first? I wanna talk to her privately." He tapped Gonzalo's shoulder.
Gonzalo laughed. "Oh come on! I wanna hear everything."
My lips parted. Gonzalo was indeed more playful than him, I bet more approachable and easier to bond with.
Fenris just glared at him which made Gonzalo laugh even harder. I was just staring at them, completely clueless about their interactions.
In a second, Gonzalo raised his hand in surrender while shaking his head. He then looked at me with his dimples waving.
"Talk to you later, Kira." He grabbed my hand and kissed it before exiting the room.
Fenris punched him in the shoulder before he closed the door and locked it, he then walked back towards the bed and sat beside me. Our legs were touching but I shouldn't make a big deal out of it, damn!
We stayed quiet for a moment like we were just feeling each other's heartbeat until he cleared his throat while he was just staring at the wall, so I did the same.
"Alpha Gonzalo is my best friend."
I wasn't shocked that Gonzalo was an alpha too. I didn't talk, waiting for him to say more.
"Moonlight Claws and Thunder Hunter, his pack are really close to each other, mostly like a brotherly pack. We trust each other big time and we always help each other with every problem occurring in our werewolf life."
I sighed. "Does he really have to know my situation?"
"It's an important matter, Kira. A werewolf from Thunder Hunter is also experiencing the same thing as Vilka." He sighed. "Vilka is not the only one and we think there's more to them than we could ever imagine. We still don't know what's going on but we're studying the case."
I just nodded. I could still feel that he wasn't spilling everything to me like he was holding back from saying what he really wanted to say.
"Gonzalo has been eyeing to meet you ever since I mentioned you to him." He grasped. "He proposed something that I think you would want to consider."
"What is that?" My heat temper kinda raised as my brows crossed.
"He's willing to marry you Kira and take the responsibility of looking after you."
"Seriously?" My lips parted at him.He just nodded. I looked down on my lap as I played with my fingers. "Is that how you despise the idea of marrying me?" I thought we already established a good bond even just for the convenience thing. I couldn't blame him after all He never liked me. It was normal for him to desire to escape the responsibility he never wished for. I don't know why my heart is aching though, damnit. "I don't despise you, Kira." "You don't have to pretend. I see it." My lips thinned as I nodded. "I feel it." "Kira, it's not that..." He gasped. "I just thought if you could have a choice, you'd prefer someone else than me. You always pinpoint how short-tempered I am and Gonzalo, Gonzalo is more patient than me, more understanding, and more friendly." "As if it isn't obvious." I rolled my eyes. "Yeah, I know. That's what everyone says about us, anyway he offered us a proposal and I found it unfair if I wouldn't even let you have the chance to choose." I looked
My mouth was frozen in seconds until I blew a hard laugh. "I thought you have humour. Why didn't you get my joke?""Too bad, you're not joking." He rolled his eyes. My lips thinned. Is it that obvious? I shrugged, acting unbothered but I caught myself floating on cloud nine while I stare at his glittering gold eyes with his messy hair that he often stroked with his fingers. His oversized black tank top made him extra good, showing his perfectly masculine arms."See? You're distracted again." He smirked.I blink multiple times. I pinched my waist, gathering the right senses I should obtain right now. I was about to go on a battle; I shouldn't be floating like I was some kind of a butterfly."Can we just start? Shall we?" I puffed a breath."Sure, but first I'll give you the credits for arriving on time today. It's your first time not being late. Congrats, Kira." He offered his hand.I glared at it but then on I wanted to feel his big palm so I shook my hand with him until he gripped t
A few days passed and luckily, I was still seeing the sunshine and moonlight. Fenris didn't kill me but I could feel that he was still somehow considering my suggestion. Nonetheless, our routine has been the same for almost two weeks and my body was drained from our continuous training every single freaking day plus I didn't fail to attend my classes and he didn't fail to pick me up and drive me home from time to time. "Is Nazarus still sticking his ass around you?" He asked while his eyes were on the road, driving. His one elbow was resting on the aisle of the window while his other hand was on the steering wheel, looking so chill. "Not his ass," I answered sarcastically. Ever since the day that I punched him in the face and asked him to just kill me, I've been avoiding him. But since he was my driver when going to university, I have no escape. "I'm serious, Kira. Is he still hanging around with you?" His hand on the steering wheel tightened its grip. I leaned my face at the wind
My brows crossed with his question. All my life I had never felt something different in my senses. Weird feelings just started occurring to me when Vilka bit me; just like a while ago when my head twitched its veins and I saw bright lightening 'til my imagination went to Fenris and Nazarus' past. It was a wild guess that turned out to be factual. "Yes, I'm just an ordinary human 'till I met you." I was positively sure. "You're welcome," he sarcastically said. "But how come your guess was so accurate? Are you hiding something from me?" I chuckled in a sarcastic tone. "What am I gonna hide?" I shook my head. "Maybe I'm just good at guessing. I have read books about werewolves so my imagination played with me and I won." I stuck my tongue out, teasingly. "You're gonna let me win in our training; that's the deal." He rolled his eyes and shook his head before he continued eating. His brows were still kinda crossed like he was thinking deeply about something like he was analysing a math
They continued talking about the mystery happening around. They discussed some possibilities and presented theories about what could be the reason for everything. I puffed a breath, trying not to be intimidated by all the information I absorbed while being quiet. I stared at Vilka, knowing that she was no longer inside that wolf form. Whoever was controlling her was definitely a devil, perhaps it could be the Darkesta nor something more unexpected. "Anyway, are you sure it's okay to leave Vilka with you for the meantime?" Finally, Fenris' changed the topic. "We'll be in Texas for about two to three days. I can't postpone this any longer." He gasped as he glanced at me. "With all the mystery happening around, Kira and I need to get married as soon as possible to avoid more conflicts. I can't take the chance of her being stuck in a werewolf form like my sister. Now that she unexpectedly transformed once, it isn't impossible to happen again." His fingers stroke his messy brown hair. "W
My brows crossed as I sat properly though I leaned my body more on the shotgun door while my mind was gathering the defences I learned from our trainings. "You're joking, right?" I asked when he turned his gaze back at the road with his blue eyes turned back into golden brown. "You'll find out." He smirked. I punched his shoulder. "You're tripping!" "You're not sure about that." He chuckled more. I laughed as I shook my head, just feeling happy to see him smile and laugh more often than usual. "You're a good werewolf. You're not gonna eat me alive." "You believe that?" I nodded before relaxing my head back to the window. "I just hope you're gonna allow me to sleep. You woke me up so early." I frowned while my eyes were closed. "Fine," he uttered, making me smile before I fell asleep. We had been to multiple gas stations and stopovers just to eat or sometimes to take a rest. It was a long drive. We stopped the car somewhere that looks nowhere when we reached the middle of the
Dad laughed at my joke and told me they were just having a silly, normal conversation as a husband and wife. I shrugged it off. Maybe I was just overthinking.I asked my mom for my photo albums before Fenris and I came back into my room. We laughed and shared foolish jokes while we were scanning my old pictures; a good old memory."You don't have a picture of you when you were just a little dog?" I playfully asked. He glared at me. "There were still no cameras when I was a baby. It was centuries ago, Kira. Besides, werewolves still aren't allowed to take photos unless they're in their human forms."I nodded as we talked more about our childhood memories. This has been the longest conversation we had so far and I've never been so happy. After scanning all the old albums, we decided to lay on the bed to get some rest."You sure, you're okay with us sleeping in the same room and bed?" I asked, getting conscious while our arms were touching each other. My bed was smaller compared to the o
Fenris woke me up, tapping my shoulder. I puffed a breath still feeling the heaviness of my eyes while feeling the sunlight flashing on my face. "Come on, breakfast is ready. Your parents are waiting for us in the dining." "Five minutes more, please." I yawned. "I'm still sleepy." "You're always sleepy, Kira." He pinched my cheeks. "Come on! We need to get going. We're gonna have a long drive again back to California. I'm avoiding delays." I frowned while he continued squeezing my cheeks like I was some kind of a teddy bear to him. I slapped his hands on my face. He chuckled. "Gather yourself. Make it fast." He pulled my wrist making me sit on the bed. I gasped. "You always ruin my wonderful sleep, you know that?" I rolled my eyes before massaging it. "I know." He rolled his eyes. "It's not my fault that you're a sleepy kid. Besides, I'm also training you to be present right on time. Werewolves are time discipline; you should practice that thing." I mocked him while I started
I swallowed deeply after seeing some backpacks and winter clothes that they had prepared for us. My mind was roaring everywhere, and I couldn't even sink in the information Guardian Leo was saying to me.My chest was thudding so loud, and all I could think of was I wasn't ready. I didn't expect everything to happen this quick. We rode horses to travel the cold land, and I couldn't stop glancing at Fenris every time I would think of backing up. I sighed deeply and tried gathering courage from I didn't even know where I could actually get one. Perhaps, the look of Fenris reassuring me was enough. We arrived at the strange mountain ranges, and from there, we teleported to the icy plateau on top of the hill. My hands were trembling under my gloves. Fenris held me while we were looking around the place, examining the surroundings."I don't understand," I muttered. "I can't see anything but icy mountains. Where could be the location of Darkesta's territory?"I hugged myself when the strong
What happened that night was still hunting me to this day — it had been two weeks and up until now, we were still thinking of the purpose of why Darkesta's little dogs suddenly attacked us."Claude is dead."When Fenris brought me that news, I was stunned. I thought I would be happy to hear those words but then again, I remembered he was once my friend. Even though it wasn't really for him, it was real for me and Lilien."They decided to kill him after he almost successfully transformed himself into his wolf form," he added.I sipped on my cup of coffee while my heart was still feeling unsafe. Darkesta was not only the devil, he was intelligent and whatever he was plotting against us could be the real end of our kind. I was just so frightened by that thought."What about Vilka? Do you believe her?" I asked before sipping on my coffee again.Vilka explained to us why she suddenly disappeared from the mansion a minute after our soldiers had traced foot tracks of Dark Summoners. She said
My jaw tightened as my claws gripped tighter on the ground. I stepped back, lowering my body while gazing at the three creepy humanoid wolves. They were standing on their two legs, and it made them look more monstrous. I prepared myself for a possible attack."Calm down!" The humanoid wolves were almost laughing in my ears. I didn't know they could talk to us through the mind link. "You seem to be too threatened to us. Don't make it so obvious, I suggest." The humanoid wolf in the middle kept blubbering, sounding so boastful.I glared at them deeper as I hissed. Fenris was looking much more eager. I could even hear his blood boiling so hard.Fenris howled. "What do you want from us?!" He also spoke through mind-link. The humanoid wolf on the left side chuckled like a playful yet annoying child. "You know what we want. "We will never surrender to your greedy master, you asshole!" Fenris fired back while he was scratching his pointed claws on the ground with his sharp teeth showing.
My heart thundered as Fenris' eyes and mine met. "Stay here," he commanded."What? No—" He got out of the room without letting me finish my words. I gulped before I rushed to follow him downstairs. Noises were coming from outside the mansion and when we finally exited the house, I saw some soldiers talking and discussing some things. In contrast, others were spread around the huge house, they were anticipating something, and my heart was thudding continuously for what could be it."What the hell is going on?!" Fenris exclaimed, and finally, he caught the soldiers' attention."We saw tracks of Dark Summoners leading to this place—""I know, but did you see them? How the hell did they get here without anyone sensing them?"Strange. Even I didn't sense the unwelcomed scent of humanoid wolves. "Alpha Fenris, I checked Vilka in her room, but she isn't there." A maid approached him."What?! What does she have to do with any of this? Are you sure she didn't sleep in her own house?"The mai
I swallowed deeply, convincing myself they were nothing but friends just like me and Nazarus — come on!"Yes, my cousins are regaining their strengths, thankfully."I cleared my throat before I stood properly and composed myself. My elbows hit some leaves, and I immediately noticed how quickly their eyes turned into me. "Oh, Kira!" Atasha chuckled awkwardly. "My cousins would want to give you and your mother this." She handed me two necklaces with a fang pendant."Really?" I still couldn't figure out how to interact with her. I never wanted to be fake or plastic or whatever they call it. "Yes, they've been planning to come here, but they are still regenerating their strengths — maybe next week they could thank you personally.""Oh, that's nice." I grabbed the necklaces from her soft hand. "Tell your cousins not to worry, and we appreciate their gifts and their gratitude." I glanced at Fenris, and he slightly smiled at me. My lips just thinned.I wanted to ask what they were talking
We arrived in the woods right on time while the Sun was about to rise. Good thing, the soldiers arrived earlier than us. They seemed responsible and dedicated to their tasks. We stayed near the river for a couple of hours. Fenris had been discussing something with the soldiers. They were plotting a plan while I was on the lookout for the busy group. Surprisingly, no Dark Summoners attempted to attack us. I was quite anticipating the action now, but perhaps it really was better for them not to attack or anything. The damage they could cause was too much, for sure.Since we saw no sign of attack, Fenris and I decided to go back to the mansion. He instructed the leader to inform us once anything unfortunate occurred. While we walked our way back to our house, the soldiers stayed in the woods as it was one of their duty — to guard and observe the forest. The next day was a really bad day for me. I work up without Fenris on my side. Since my body was so heavy and even my eyes, I didn't no
Nazarus just shrugged and started walking to the exit of the mansion. He looked back at me and gestured to me to follow him. I rolled my eyes before walking. I watched Nazarus back while walking. It was only at that time I noticed how neat and elegant he walked. Every step of him was really careful — I laughed at the thought of why we waste our time walking if we could just teleport. Fenris's deep gaze met mine when we reached the gate. "What did you do?* His brows crossed at Nazarus.I snaked my arm over Fenris' arm. "Where are we going?" I asked.Fenris remained to stare at Naz. Naz laughed and shook his head. "Chill! I went to the restroom and walked past her in the living room.""Where are we going, Fenris?" I asked again.Fenris finally looked at me. "You'll see."I rolled my eyes before looking at Nazarus. "Where are we going, Naz?""You'll see." He mocked Fenris.Fuck them!I crossed my arms over my chest and just followed them. We walked for a few minutes until we reached M
Slowly, the estranged man opened his eyes and quickly met mine. "You're gonna die… you're all going to die…." His huge black pupils trembled on my chest. I took a deep breath as my chest tightened.Fenris kicked the man before he stepped on his chest. "Don't listen to him." He tightened the grip of his feet on the man's chest, stiffening the Dark Summoners' human body."What do you want from us, huh?!"The man smiled strangely and slowly, he chuckled like a devil. "You're all gonna die…." He breathed out before coughing after Fenris squeezed his chest more with his feet."Fuck you! You're the one who's going to die today." Fenris grabbed his dagger and sliced the Dark Summoner's head off. I flinched and stepped back as the blood splashed everywhere. I covered my mouth. I was used to seeing brutality, but I couldn't still stop to be shocked at times."Why did you kill him? We could get information—""Do you think he will say something?" Fenris cut me off. "Think of him as Claude. He wi
Fenris raised his right brow. "You're talking about me?" "Oh, it's not important." Nazarus shrugged his hand. "Don't think too much about it."My lips thinned when Fenris glared at me. "What?" I arched a brow. "I just told him you don't like plucking the flowers in the garden."Fenris looked at the flower in my hand. I thought he was going to get it to me, but he just turned his gaze back at Fenris."What it is with the flowers that you're always giving to my wife, huh?"Nazarus raised both of his hands as if surrendering. "Just a nice gesture, calm down.""Nice gesture." Fenris scoffed. "Bullshit.""Fenris." I cleared my throat."Anyway, Fenris," Nazarus uttered. "It's perfect timing that you're here. I have to discuss something with you."Fenris' brows crossed, and so mine."About what?"Nazarus glanced at the mansion. "Can we talk inside?""Why? Can't you discuss that here?" Fenris sounded more disgusted yet intrigued.Naz looked around. "You won't wanna risk someone hearing our
