Board Meeting

NOVA POV

I could feel his eyes on me and it was making me sweat all over. My heart was beating a mile a minute, my panties were dripping wet just from shaking the man’s damn hand. Little Ella was the sweetest kid with the hottest dad, but I need to get my head back into this meeting.

I walk in looking around for Vivian, we both had to speak and make our points tonight. I was nervous already, but now I have this gorgeous hunk staring at me made it twice as bad. Where in the world is Vivian, maybe she can help me with these nerves. As I looked to my right my eyes met with those brown panty dropping eyes again. I have decided I am in hell.

“Hey Nova, over here” I hear Vivian yelling.

I waved at her and looked down at Ella, “Do you want to sit with me?”

“Yes, please” this sweet little girl was always so polite.

Ella, Turner and myself walked over to Vivian. Her eyes were big as saucers as she stared at the man walking with me. I wanted to tell her to wipe the droll away, but couldn’t with him standing right there.

She looked at me with curious eyes, and she looked down to see little Ella holding my hand. “Mixing business and pleasure my friend,” she whispered.

My elbow contacted with her left rib cage, she let out a little gasp. The woman had no shame, but that is why she is my best friend. Also made me laugh and got me out of my funk when I let my past bring me down. My past one of the many reasons I am still single, and not able to let people get close to me.

She could have been a model, but she loved kids and molding young minds. So, we went through high school, then college together her with Math and me History. She had my trust like no other, the one person that was there for me through good and bad. Believe me when I say there has been more bad than good. Most guys always move to her once they meet her, but not Turner he moved to the other side of his daughter. This guy was an enigma to me already, no one cared about the red head, pale skin friend that was a little on the heavy side. Once they meet the blonde bombshell with ocean blue eyes it was to hell with me.

Everyone started entering the meeting room, the main board members sitting at the front of the room. In the very front was Robert, a board member that has asked me out and he trains his eyes on me as soon as he sits down. He always gives me the creeps and just something was off about that man. Was it the fact he reminded me of my father, the man that destroyed my life and still affects everything I do.

Chills went down my body thinking about the past. Vivian must have noticed, she grabbed my hand to give me strength. The world is a better place without that man, just wish I could have met my mom.

I took a deep breath as the head board member started talking about today’s agenda. The main discussion would be the changes for the next school year with our departments. All I could think was please if there is a higher power let me have my summer break.

My thoughts went to my speech about the importance of not changing the curriculum. That History shapes our futures and how we have to learn from the past. If we learn from our past maybe we will not make the same mistakes in the future. We need to grow young minds to better our country.

I was lost in my thoughts when Vivian squeezed my hand as she got up to speak her mind on the Math department. She was captivating, I knew if the men voted they were all voting for her.

When it was my turn I was shaking till my eyes met his. I was lost and completely relaxed after that point. While I spoke it was to him and everything came out just like I had practiced at home, the nerves just floated away. Wow! The effect of this man on me was mind blowing.
