The Truth

Ava's pov

My heart thumped heavily in my chest as Julian drove us to an unknown destination. I was supposed to be at Aiden's school meeting but now I was a captive.

Aiden, sensing my unease, clung to my hand. I had no weapon on me, and even if I did, I couldn't escape from Julian with two kids.

"Mommy, why aren't we going to school anymore?" Aiden asked, his face scrunched up in worry.

I forced a smile, trying to reassure him. "We will go later, okay?"

But he didn't seem satisfied and his eyes lingered on me with concern. Diamond rested her head on my laps, and I stroked her hair, trying to distract myself.

The car pulled into a halt, and the door opened. I stepped out of the car, facing Julian.

"Julian," I said his name in a trembling voice, but he ignored me, rolling his eyes. There was a plane in front of us, I knew there was no escaping this time.

Diamond ran to meet her father and, they shared a tender moments. Aiden held my hand when he was out of the car, his eyes scanning
