Chapter 161

Gwen's POV

The knock at the door became increasingly louder. I took off the apron I was wearing in the kitchen and hung it on the wall.

I secretly hoped it was Andrew because I knew he was back in Oklahoma since the holidays were over.

“Coming!” I said, some few feets away from the door.

I saw Fred standing in front of me as soon as I unlocked the door. He did not look anything like the 'always happy Fred' I knew. I instantly felt scared and poked my head outside to check around for Andrew.

"Uhm, sorry Fred, please come in," I said as I opened the door wide.

When Fred entered the house, I motioned for him to sit down and make himself at home. I left for the kitchen and came back with a glass of tropical drink.

“I am sorry for making you wait long. I was busy in the kitchen. The boys and Nanny Rose went down the street, so I decided to bake them some muffins before they got home” I explained.

“It's okay ma'am. The boss asked me to come talk to you.”
