As though I had just said something extremely out of place, the woman in front of me froze and refused to give me a response. That was not the reaction I expected.

Even though I was going to wait until the end of the twenty-four-hour timer I gave her, I became suspicious of the number of minutes Kante was spending in Miss Edwards’s room.
