Lavender's Point Of View:

“Take these files to the secretary, she knows just what to do.” Hayden commanded, his voice echoing dominance just like his brother's.

I nodded, reluctantly taking the files from the table before turning to exit the office.

I entered the elevator which took me to the ground floor where I gave the secretary the files before returning back into the elevator.

I just wished the elevator would just get stuck for a few minutes and I would get the opportunity to at least rest or sit.

I've been going back and forth since 8am and my legs were starting to get weak but the twins failed to notice it.

Soon enough again, I was back on the third floor. I stepped out of the elevator, striding towards the office but just as my grasp tightened on the door knob, my phone rang in my breast pocket, stealing my attention.

I fetched it, staring at the screen.

LAURA

It was my personal assistant who was in charge of my company when I wasn't available.

But she was more than just a personal assistant, she was my emotional support system and a very close friend even though we barely had mutual conversations frequently, the bond was just natural and tight.

I answered the call, proceeding to push the door open and step in.

“Hey!" She shouted immediately.

"Hey, Laura. How are you doing?” Now that's how a personal assistant should be treated and not the way these bastards treated me.

“I'm not doing so great. Where have you been for three weeks now? It's unusual for you to dump work for that long, not even for twelve hours. Rumor has it that you got married to the famous Brille twins.”.

I swallowed, halting as I faced the door to shut it but her words just got me speechless.

I let out a sigh, shutting the door. “Actually, I did get married to them. It's not a rumor,”.

"But… the Lavender I know doesn't have anything to do with men, let alone those assholes with icy hearts. I'm glad you changed your mind to give love another chance anyway but you deserve better, girl. Besides, why was I not invited to the wedding?” I knew she was just kidding, Laura was never nosey, but I needed to give her a response anyway.

“We can discuss it when we meet!" I responded, knowing well that we might not meet forever again.

“Can we meet tomorrow? At your favorite restaurant. We can have some cheeseburgers, your favorite on the menu.” She said and from her bright voice, I could tell she was smiling and her ginger eyes were sparkling in delight.

I smiled. She really cared enough to know my best on the menu.

“I'm not sure I can leave the house tomorrow or anytime soon. I have something going on currently and I wouldn't want to be distracted and leave the house or I would just procrastinate until forever,” I lied, forcing a laugh.

“Oh. I would have really loved to find out why you chose those cruel things as your husbandSSSS. Rumor has it that they are mafias, you know, and that's why they seem cold-hearted,”,

"Chill girl, where do you get this crazy news from? Who's feeding you such humongous lies?!”.

I strode to the window, gazing down at the bustling city.

“I’m a really good gossip so I have gossip friends who feed me this news. Ah- I almost forgot I didn't call you for this. Something is wrong, Lav, and that's why I called you in the first place,”,

"Sure. What's that?",

"The company… it….",

“It what, Laura?!",

“Some government agencies stopped by some days ago and said half of the building is standing on land that we do not legally own and the papers of ownership are fake and forged. And they are requesting to demolish the half and there's no way half will be demolished and the company will flourish.”,

My eyes flew open. “Since when?",

“Two days,",

“Why are you just telling me this now?",

“You were not answering your calls!",

“Oh my. Can we buy the other half?",

“I’m afraid we can't, Lav. Just as you know, we budgeted some money for our new upcoming limited edition project that's meant to launch in three weeks and we budgeted five hundred and sixty thousand dollars. And the land costs eight hundred thousand dollars since it's about two and half acres. Since we make 1.5 million annually, it means our income this year will be cut short if the new limited edition doesn't sell really well and even if it does, it can't cover up the expenses.”.

I gulped, unable to speak.

“But they refused to let us buy it for a lower price and they rejected our bribe. They seem serious about it and the half is where our warehouses are, including the production house and tailoring room. If these important parts of our company goes down, especially the production house and tailoring room, how are we supposed to create our designs anymore,” She explained.

I cleared my throat, finally knowing the perfect words to say. "I understand. I trust you've definitely tried your best to convince them while I was gone. How about we pause the project and offer them both the eight hundred and the five sixty. That's 1.3 million dollars. It's hard to let go but this is our only option left,”.

"I've done way more than that and offered even way more than the company makes but they insisted, stating that some illegal activities were carried out in that particular place so it might be dangerous for us because there might be some things hidden there and they want to do more investigation,”.

I let out a sigh. “Just…… I'll get back to you when I can. Thanks a lot. Just keep doing what you're doing and keep trying your best for our brand, it will work out at some point.”.

The call ended.

I let out another sigh, my shoulder dropping as I watched the city outside, cars dashing through the road.

There was nothing I could do about this and letting go of the company was not an option.

We could bribe them or buy the land for a really huge amount but I didn't have such money.

I spun around, not knowing what I was doing but I did it anyway.

“I need your help.".
