Chapter 20 No Conscience

Before leaving, James paused and didn't look back.

“Lin Boting, has my elder brother ever told you that I have no conscience?”

This incoherent remark certainly aroused Chen Xiaoyu's suspicion, but James did not explain. Lin Boting watched his back disappear and turned around after a while.

The ward returned to peace. He quietly sat down beside the bed and said to the person on the bed, "They're gone. You can wake up now."

Serena opened her eyes and touched her nose sheepishly, "Is it that obvious?"

"It's not obvious. He pretends well. But I'm a doctor. I can tell whether he's awake or not."

Lin Boting helped her sit up, and Serena said solemnly, "Thank you!"

"I've thanked you before, and I accept it."

"This thank you is for helping me send them away."

Lin Boting smiled and said , "I know that you and James have been at odds for a long time." He paused, "But this time you were saved thanks to him."

When Lin Boting arrived, he happened to see the police trying to climb over the balcony, so he followed them. James went up earlier than him and followed the group guarding the main entrance.

"I called the police, but these policemen were probably called by James."

"How did he know someone was going to hurt me?"

"Maybe he also noticed that the voice-activated lights on your floor were broken..." Lin Boting said, "At least that's why I discovered these problems."

The voice-controlled light went out not because the bulb was broken or the circuit was short-circuited, but because the wires were cut, and the neat cut was obviously man-made.

Serena sighed, "If they had come a week later I would have moved away..."

That makes sense. The two men cut the wires and marked the place. They must have planned this long ago based on the employer's request. It would be impossible for them to allow her to move out in time.

Serena remembered that James had once asked her about the street lights, and the voice-controlled lights were broken on the day he came. It was not surprising that he noticed it with his keen sense. Maybe he really wanted her to move out of concern, rather than deliberately making things difficult for her.

There was also the scent of fir that lingered around her when she was unconscious, and the strong and warm embrace, which was free of desire but safe, making her reluctant to leave. It turned out that she was more attached to this embrace than she thought.

Seeing that she was silent for a long time, Lin Boting thought she was tired, so he advised, "You should rest more and wait until you are better before doing other things. It was late at night, and after catching the bad guys they had to go to the restaurant to check in. James really doted on Chen Xiaoyu. She turned over and suddenly thought, why did Chen Xiaoyu know so quickly?

Could it be possible that James would report his itinerary to her?

It is not necessarily impossible. It is very normal between engaged couples. Even if James does not report it, Chen Xiaoyu will ask Sun Heng. After all, Sun Heng will answer even if she asks, let alone his future fiancée.

"Are you, Mr. Shen, always so disrespectful in doing things?"

The implication is that you, an outsider, are talking nonsense .

Sun Heng had followed James for seven years and had learned a lot from him in verbal battles. I will go with you after we finish taking the statement, but now please go out and wait for a moment."

After taking the statement, Serena asked a few more questions. The police had strict rules and regulations and would not say more before getting the result. She got into James' Maybach without getting any information out of the question.

This is the car he often uses for work. The last time Serena rode in it was ... She pursed her lips and decided to think of something normal.

"Assistant Sun, how did Mr. Forrest know that those two people were going to cause trouble for me?"

Sun Heng lowered his head and operated the PAD, and answered casually, "Mr. Shen felt something was wrong when we left your community that night, so he asked me to check it out, and I found it right away."

The belongings and luggage did arrive at Linjiang Mansion earlier than Serena. Sister Sun said, "They moved in early this morning. They were all packed when I came out."

There was a new mobile phone on the table in the living room, unopened. Sister Sun scooped a bowl of soup from the kitchen and put it down, mumbling:

"Mr. Shen came back the night before yesterday. He drank some wine and told me that you would move in soon. He really understands you."
