Ari’s POV

The cold metal bench in my cell had grown familiar in the last 24 hours. I sat with my knees pulled up, staring at the cracked concrete wall, but all I saw was him.

Cross.

I wanted to hate him — to convince myself that setting him up for Lady Smith was the right thing to do. That maybe this was the only way out of the mess he’d dragged me into. But every time I thought of him, I felt that same ache deep in my chest, a dangerous longing that wouldn’t go away.

The memories haunted me — the way he kissed me like I was the only woman who ever existed, the way his hands knew every inch of my body, how he made me feel alive… and how he disappeared when I needed him the most. I took a shaky breath as I felt his fingers crawling over my skin, gliding down through my belly and slipping into the curve in between my thighs. I moaned.

Irrespective of what was happening or what I was going through, one thing about Cross was that I wanted him… I always did!

But…

He chose Mira, I reminded

Cross’ POVMira sat across from me, swirling her wine slowly, her eyes fixed on me with that familiar, predatory gleam. She always had a way of making herself comfortable in my space, like she belonged there.“You don’t have to keep pretending, you know,” she said, her voice smooth as silk, but with an edge sharp enough to cut.I didn’t answer. We were in the lounge of my penthouse, the lights dim, city noise distant beyond the floor-to-ceiling windows. I took a slow sip of whiskey, hoping it would drown out the conversation I knew was coming.“You can’t keep running from this, Cross,” she added, her lips curving into that same smug smile I’d seen a hundred times. “We were good together once. You know it. I know it.”I closed my eyes briefly, already losing patience. “That was a long time ago, Mira.”“And what? You think things change that easily?” She leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees, watching me like she was waiting for me to snap. “I haven’t. I still want you.”I set

Cross’ POV Something was wrong. I could feel it in my gut, in the way Ari wouldn't look me straight in the eye. I stepped closer, my pulse hammering as I searched her face. “Ari, why did you call me here?” She blinked rapidly, shaking her head. “I… I just needed to talk.” “Talk?” My voice was low, edged with suspicion. “Yeah,” she whispered, her voice barely carrying over the cold emptiness of the warehouse. My fists clenched at my sides. “Bullshit.” She flinched. “Cross—” “No.” I cut her off, stepping even closer. “You’ve been avoiding me like the plague, and now suddenly, you need to talk? You’re lying, Ari.” My mind was already racing, my eyes instantly scanned the area. There was nothing… yet!She looked away, biting her lower lip. “What’s going on?” I pushed. “Why am I here?” She exhaled sharply, crossing her arms. “You think I don’t have a reason to be mad at you?” I frowned. “That’s not what I said.” She scoffed. “You think just showing

Cross’ POVPain. It was the first thing I registered as I slowly regained consciousness. My body ached, my head was throbbing, and something warm and sticky trickled down my forehead. Blood. Shit.I forced my eyes open, the blaring red and blue lights in the distance reminding me exactly where I was—on the run. The crash hadn’t killed me, but if I didn’t move now, I’d be done for. Sirens wailed, closing in fast. The police were coming. I could hear the faint voices of officers barking orders, their footsteps crunching against the debris. Move, Cross. Move! Gritting my teeth, I yanked my seatbelt free and shoved the mangled car door open. Every muscle in my body screamed as I dragged myself out, my leg nearly buckling beneath me. The impact had messed me up, but I wasn’t dying here—not tonight. I stumbled forward, barely able to steady myself. My vision blurred, but I forced my feet to move. A few yards ahead, I spotted a canal, its murky waters barely visible under the dim city

Ari’s POV"I’m sorry." That was the last thing I had said to Cross before everything went to hell. And I meant it. I didn’t know why I said it, maybe because I knew he didn’t deserve what was coming next. Maybe because I felt like I had just done something unforgivable. Maybe because, despite everything, I still loved him. But then—gunfire. Chaos erupted. I ducked behind a crate as bullets ripped through the air, my ears ringing. My heart pounded so hard I thought it might burst. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go. The police were in position. Cross was supposed to be arrested. That was the plan. But then another group had shown up. Who the hell were they? I peeked out just in time to see Cross sprint toward his car, dodging bullets with the kind of precision that came from years of experience. He was fast, but so were the officers. Run, Cross…The thought hit me before I could stop it. And then I was running too. I didn’t know what I was doing. I didn’t even know why

Ari’s POVThe morning was quiet, but my thoughts were anything but the same. I had barely slept after spending the night with Kaelie, and even as I walked into the station, all I could think about was Cross. Where was he being kept? Had they hurt him? Was he— No. I shut down the thought before it could spiral any further. Cross wasn’t weak. He wasn’t the type to break, no matter how much they tried to beat him down. But something about Lady Smith made me uneasy. And that uneasiness only grew stronger when I saw her walking straight toward me. "Ariana." Her voice was firm, but I could hear something laced underneath it. Amusement? Suspicion? I stopped in my tracks, standing straighter. "Yes, ma’am?" She didn’t waste time. "Cross is asking to speak with you." My stomach dropped. I forced my face to remain neutral. "Me?" She gave me a sharp nod. "Yes, you. He won’t speak to anyone else." I swallowed. "I… I don’t know why he would ask for me." Lady Smith’s eyes studied me li

Cross’ POVI was starving. My stomach churned in protest, but that wasn’t even the worst part. My entire body ached, my ribs felt cracked, and the damn handcuffs were cutting into my wrists. Still, my thoughts kept running over and over around her – Ari.I knew she was yet to truly forgive me. But for me, well, I had forgiven her. I needed this. I needed to be away from the world. To be locked and tortured and made to remember everything that I had done to make the lives of others miserable. And of course, fate had just placed Lady Smith in the right position to do that. The fucking policewoman was some corrupt mess. I was a hundred percent certain that I was not meant to be tortured this way but of course, she had the ultimate power to do with me whatever she wished.Including playing with my genitals.Cursed bitch. The time I’d have her in my hands was coming.I leaned my head back against the cold metal of the chair they’d strapped me to, inhaling deeply. The precinct was quieter

Ari’s POVKaelie was my go-to friend whenever the world seemed a bit overwhelming. She was the type you could count on to turn things around. Although she was a bad bitch, and she knew it. In fact, it was common knowledge. I felt relieved to have someone like her in my corner.Today was unlike every other day. I called in a sick day at the office. It was a rare request from me, and Lady Smith wasted no time in granting it."I love my job," you know? That was a phrase every other person used whenever they had an excuse. Here it comes—I love my job, but I love my mental health more.Come on, I had literally just sold out my lover. I mean, it was my job to catch the bad guy, but this was complicated. I loved the bad guy. I guess I never had much luck in love.I folded myself with a soft pillow between my legs, wrapping the thick bed fabric around my body. I wasn’t ready to summon any ounce of courage to do anything. I was mad and frustrated at myself. It was that feeling when you know

Cross' POVA long silence stretched between us. I looked at her, taking in the sight of her in the dim light. Her uniform was pressed, her hair pulled back in a tight bun, and her expression was unreadable."So," she finally said, breaking the silence. "Are you going to tell me what makes you so special? Or do I have to find out by myself?""And what here gives you the impression that I'll tell you?" I smirked. She stepped closer, her eyes narrowing. "Because I'm not going to let you go until you do. So if you're wise, you'll start talking.""Then we'll be here a while." I shrugged, looking away from her to subtly scan the room. Her lips curved into a thin smile as she answered back. "Maybe. Or maybe I'll just have to convince you."I raised an eyebrow, looking back at her. "And how are you planning to do tha—"Before I could finish that statement, she had closed the distance between us and rested her feet on my crotch, pressing down on it slowly.I stiffened. Her smile grew wider. Cross’ POVThe roar of the engine filled my ears as I sped down the deserted road, the air slashing across my face. My mind was a storm, thoughts slamming into each other. Ari was in trouble. I didn’t know where, I didn’t know how, but I could feel it. The moment I saw that unknown number flash on my screen, I knew. And when the call disconnected before a voice could even come through, I didn’t hesitate. With a flick of my wrist, I activated the tracker embedded in my device, hacking into the last known coordinates of the signal. The result made my blood run cold.A forest. The middle of nowhere. What I didn’t expect outside the building was a stretch of green - the woods…I cursed.Behind me, his voice slithered through the trees, taunting, sing-song, twisted in its mockery."Ari, come out, come out wherever you are…"A shudder ripped through me. He was enjoying this. The chase. The fear. The sheer power he had over me.I pushed forward, stumbling over uneven ground. My body ached, but I forced myself onward, lungs burning, heart hammering against my ribs. If I stopped, I was dead.Up ahead, a fallen tree loomed. I dropped to my knees, crawling underneath, pressing myself against the damp earth. I clenched my fists, holding my breath. Maybe, just maybe, I could disappear into the shadows. The silence stretched. Then—a hand clamped around my ankle.A scream tore from my throat as I was yanked backward, my nails clawing at the ground, grasping for anything

Ariana’s POVDarkness. It was thick, suffocating, pressing against me like a second skin.My wrists burned from the restraints, bound so tightly I could feel the circulation slowing. My ankles were the same—tied, restrained, useless. My breath was uneven, a mix of panic and frustration, chest rising and falling against the gag tied around my mouth.I tried to move. Failed.I tried again, twisting my body, but all it did was send a sharp pain shooting through my shoulders.Where the hell was I?The last thing I remembered was stepping into my apartment. Then—darkness. Now I was here. And I wasn’t alone.A noise—a rustling, a whimper—echoed through the blackness. Then, a voice. Weak. Trembling. Familiar.“…Ari?”My body froze. That voice. That broken, barely-there whisper.Kaelie.My head snapped toward the sound, my eyes adjusting to the dimness of what little light seeped through the cracks of wherever the fuck we were. And then—I saw her.Tied. Cross’ POVAs I ran through to the car, I already spotted what was coming. If Mira already knew about Ari, she had definitely told the Don, and the Don was already in the picture. If the Don was in the picture, they were coming for me. I and the Don had made an agreement, and that was to stay faithful to Mira. That agreement was broken. In no time, the Don’s men would be here. The air was thick with gasoline and sweat as I slipped into the car. My fingers tightened around the steering wheel as I reached for my phone, barely suppressing the rush of adrenaline flooding my veins. The Don may be on me, but I also had my plans. And it was time to put it in motion. The call rang once before Gustav answered.“It’s time.”There was no hesitation. No questions. Only a sharp exhale from the other end of the line before the call cut off.And then—The roar of engines.Headlights flared in the distance, then multiplied like wildfire. Cross’ POVThe city streets were still drenched in the silence of the early morning when I arrived at the hideout. My body ached from exhaustion, but my mind was sharper than ever.Leo was dead. That truth weighed on me like chains, heavy and unrelenting. I had spent years crawling out of the grave only to return and find the ones I left behind buried instead.Leo should have been here. Laughing. Drinking. Breathing.Instead, we were about to put him in the ground.I entered the dimly lit warehouse, my boots echoing against the cold concrete. Gustav was already there, leaning against a wooden crate, a cigarette burning low between his fingers. He looked up at me, his sharp eyes unreadable. "You're back."I nodded. "Get the men ready. We're taking Leo home."Gustav exhaled a cloud of smoke before flicking the cigarette away. “Took you long enough, boss. Ari's POVThe world was still wrapped in the quiet, heavy embrace of the early morning when I stirred. My body felt warm, blanketed by the remnants of a presence so familiar yet so distant that, for a moment, I thought I was still dreaming. And then I felt it.A slow, steady breath against my neck. The warmth of a body pressed against mine.An arm lazily draped over my waist.Reality settled in.I didn't dare move—not yet. I just lay there, staring at the ceiling, my heart swelling, aching, twisting. He was here. Cross was here. Alive. In my bed.The night had been a storm of emotions, fists, accusations, and unbridled relief. And now, here we were, tangled in the stillness, as if the world hadn’t turned upside down just hours ago.Slowly, I turned my head, and there he was.Cross.His face, barely inches from mine, softened in sleep. His long lashes cast faint shadows on his sharp cheekbones, his lips slightly parted, chest rising and falling in a rhythm that had once been the most c

Ari's POVOnce we reached the bed, he pushed me down before pulling his trouser and boxer off, and then climbing on top of me, his hard length rubbing against my thigh."Spread your legs for me." Cross ordered, his eyes locked on mine as he waited for me to comply.I obeyed, opening my legs wide, exposing my pussy to him.He reached down and ran his finger over my folds, his cock twitching when he saw how wet I was."You're dripping." He smiled, bringing his fingers to his mouth and he licked them clean. He leaned forward, his face only inches from mine. "Are you ready for me, Ari?""Yes," I gasped, my body aching for him.Cross grinned and gripped his cock, he slid the tip along my folds, teasing me to further wetness before pushing himself inside me, his eyes closing and his face tightening as he felt me wrap around his cock."So tight," he groaned. "And so wet.""Yeah." I cried out, arching my back as he started thrusting. His thrusts were slow and steady at first, but they gradual
