Chapter 4

JASMINE'S POV

I wake up to sunlight streaming through my window as I groan trying to adjust my eyes to the scenery in front of me.

' Finally, she awakens,' comes a guy's voice and I cannot make it out because of the blinding light before noticing that it belongs to Aiden.

' Yeah yeah,' I groan stretching like a cat and rubbing at my eyes when I see the sign by the road written Welcome to Detroy in big letters.

A smile spreads across my face wide enough to make it hurt since I have always dreamed of coming to this town since it's popular for its marvellous beaches and beautiful scenery.

' So our first stop is going to be the mall since there are a couple of things we need to get,' he says as we drive into the city my face glued to my window observing everything outside and I can feel my inner child get giddy with excitement. We reach the mall and he kills the engine turning to face me.

' I need you in my sight at all times muffin we clear?' he says all of a sudden sounding serious.

' Umm yeah okay so what exactly are we buying?' I ask him as we get out of the car.

' Groceries mostly,' he says sliding on his sunglasses and bringing out that bad boy as I raise my left brow at him.

' What you don't expect us to starve to death do you?' he asks slightly running his hand through his hair.

' No I don't,' I say as he takes my hand in his interlocking our fingers and I try to resist but he squeezes my hand tight in warning before I give up and we walk into the mall.

We are in the process of shopping more of me picking what we want and Aiden pushing the trolly his eyes never leaving my presence and making sure that my presence is in his line of vision and never away. It's impossible to tell if he's doing this because he is genuinely paranoid that I will go missing or because he genuinely cares. Anyway in the middle of picking things off the shelves, I happen to bump into someone causing them to shriek.

' You little bitch watch where you are going,' comes a girl's voice as she stares daggers in my direction.

'Excuse me,' I scoff taken back by her choice of words.

My eyes finally take in the brat who dared to be so rude and I am surprised to be met with a girl who had the appearance of a model if you ask me. She has a sculpted figure not to mention her set of dazzling, angel-white teeth which gleam as she blows on her carmine-red fingernails. Her hair is molten-red as it flows effortlessly against her shoulders not forgetting her brown eyes which stare back at me as though judging my existence.

' Riley,' comes Aiden's slightly shocked voice drawing me away from my thoughts as the girl forgets my existence throwing herself on Aiden and I cannot stop the jealousy that flows through me as I watch. Aiden gently shrugs her off surprising me but at the same time, I smile internally because she deserves that.

' What the hell are you doing here?' he asks her he asks the Riley girl his voice going cold all of a sudden his body language going rigid.

' Well I have missed you too and I am shopping like any other normal person,' she purrs running her hand up and down his arm I have never wanted to amputate someone's hand so bad. Aiden jerks away clearly uncomfortable with her touching him before she quickly turns in my direction.

' I am guessing you are his new placeholder,' she says maliciously her eyes narrowing into slits at me.

Aiden is quick to step in front of me as though to shield me from this bimbo but I am quicker to step around him and look her squarely into her eyes saying,' So it seems I am. It's a pity that I didn't have to open up my legs for him to be in this position.'

She stares at me in complete shock and hatred and I know my point has reached home as I grab Aiden's arm in mine as he uses his other hand to push our trolly walking past her not sparing her another glance. We go through checkout Aiden paying for the stuff as we walk to the car.

' Who was she and why did she seem to know you?' I ask Aiden curious to know who Riley was and I notice the way he clenches his jaw in response.

' Don't worry about that muffin she's nothing,' he says leaving no room for me to ask any more questions as he loads the groceries into the car.

We get in the car Aiden drives off and we spend the remaining part of the day shopping and exploring the city and by the time we are heading to we we are to be staying I am really tired. Aiden ends up pulling up to a beautiful beach house surrounded by bright and dark green trees the branches swaying from side to side while the wind blows bringing in the smell and taste of fresh breeze.

' Wow,' I breathe out as Aiden kills the engine and we step out I notice the beach surrounding us with no one in sight.

' Wait is this a private beach?' I ask Aiden as he nods his head in agreement stepping around the car to take my hand in his something I have begun to get used to.

' Come on,' he says leading me to the entrance of the beach house as he bends over to retrieve a key from under the door mat before opening up and letting me in first following in after.

The interior is so beautiful and spacious that I am surprised how it would be just the two of us in here alone. Aiden leads me up the stairs into a beautiful bedroom with a verandah as I walk into it the view is phenomenal you could catch the sunset from here not to forget the view of the beach.

I feel his presence behind me trying my best not to squirm in nervousness when I feel his warm breath fan my ear,' Do you like it?'

' Of course, I do,' I breathe out affected by his closeness.

He must sense it because he steps away my stomach sinking in slight disappointment since I enjoyed him being close to me. 

We didn't end up cooking dinner since we had a couple of stops at restaurants in the city and had eaten quite a lot to the point we were both full. Aiden suggests we go swimming at this late our all the tiredness in my body leaving at the mention of going into the water. He gives me space to change into my red polka dot bikini all thanks to Roly as I stare at myself in the mirror suddenly feeling nervous.

I mentally chant to myself that it's not so hard to just walk out there dressed in a bikini and diminish all negative thoughts about what Aiden is going to think. I slowly head down and get out sensing the fresh and gentle breeze as I make my way down to the water. The sun has gone down as I look around for Aiden but he is nowhere to be seen.

I feel the sand against my feet sighing in contentment at the sound of rolling waves as I make my way to the water dipping in my feet feeling the ice-cold water against my skin.

Suddenly I am in the air a pair of strong arms wrapped around me as I squeal in surprise slightly scared my body tensing.

'It's just me baby,' comes Aiden's voice my heart melted at him calling me baby my body automatically relaxing in his arms. His body is warm against mine sending a million shocks through me as I feel him walk into the water holding me tight.

Once he is much deeper into the water I can sense his next move as I begin to thrash in his arms screaming, 'Don't you dare...'

I barely have time to finish as he drops me into the water the ice-cold water engulfing me before I swim up to the surface to catch my breath Aiden is nowhere in sight.

Suddenly hands enclose my waist and I am puled against his hard naked chest as he quickly turns me around my legs now straddling his waist a position I had never been in before. His fingers draw teasing circles around my thighs sending my heart into a frenzy of emotions. I don't want him to stop as he pulls me closer to him our faces inches apart from each other my eyes finding his lips.

 I barely have time to act on my thoughts before he pulls us into the water before we bore rise to catch our breath.

' What the fuck,' I growl not amused by his little stunt as I glare at him.

' Come on muffin lighten up,' he laughs so carefreely causing me to smile at him in return.

' Leave me alone,' I chuckle splashing water in his direction.

' Nope you're mine for the weekend,' he says running his hands through his wet hair causing my mouth to water at the sight.

Before he can make any more flirtatious comments, I swim back to the shore behind me as if making sure that I don't drown how typical. I get out of the water the cold breeze nipping at my skin and causing me to shiver. I feel his warmth behind me feeling his chin on my shoulder his arms around my waist when he says,' How about we go back inside yeah?'

I nod my head in agreement and in no time his fingers entwine with mine as we head towards the beach house straight to the veradah where we both lie down side by side. I observe the dark blue night sky littered with stars admiring how they are somehow aligned in their way.

' I'm still curious as to how you know Riley was it?' I ask softly knowing how well Aiden seems to not like talking about the bimbo.

' I'd rather we not,' says Aiden coldly as I turn on my side to face him noticing the cloud of anger behind his eyes.

' Do you not trust me?' I ask drawing lazy patterns against his skin with my fingers noticing the way his body responds to my touch.

' Strangely I do,' he whispers out clenching his jaw.

' Then?' I ask tilting his chin to face me his eyes are nothing like the warm icy pools I know but rather cold and distant as he clenches his hands into fists and it makes me realize that this person right here is not the Aiden King I know.
