Nyx's POV

I had just had another crazy ride of my life on the Rockefeller skating rink.

Clyde is a pro for sure and he never let go of my hands throughout our time on the ice.

"I can't afford to have you get hurt, you are too important to your pack and to me as well" Clyde had said with burning cheeks while on the rink.

It was such an exciting experience, I even opted to stay longer but was denied as time was moving too fast.

We can't risk letting anyone in school know about our absence especially Miss Pendleton and the guardian and so we had to return to Salvador before curfew.

Clyde signaled all of us to go into the nearest bathroom and we complied, making sure to enter without dragging attention to ourselves.

Clyde and I were the first to go in followed by Narin and Gus. I noticed Clyde's face, he seemed disturbed by something but I didn't ask about it, I just left him to his thoughts with the hope that he will open up soon.

Hawar and Bonnie entered next, giggling and talk

Nyx's POV "Well is that not the Nyx Uren and her delinquents of friends," Someone said from behind and we froze on our steps. My breath hitched and goosebumps covered my whole skin, we've been caught, again. From the corner of my eyes, I could make out a silhouette figure approaching us from the dark wood. I turned just in time to see that the one who had caught us was no one but Otis. I released the breath I didn't know I was holding, and so did the other members of the Rebels. "Thought it was someone important" Cindy muttered in a bratty tune. "We are safe guys, it's just the night watchers" Elrond hummed, "I'll be on my way now" he added and tried to leave only to be stopped by one of Otis's pack members who was right behind him. "You don't think you could walk away from the Elites pack that easily, do you?" Dylan let out a dangerous smirk while staring down at Elrond like he was an ant. "Where are you lawbreakers coming from?" Otis demanded, staring right at Clyde whose ha

Nyx's POV Clyde walked towards Otis's scary wolf courageously, his tattoos glowing under the moonlight. I and the other members of the Rebels watched him go, feeling utterly helpless. Clyde was hotheaded, once he takes up a challenge or makes a decision, he would never change it so easily and so trying to stop him from fighting Otis was like pulling a parched bull away from taking water to quench its taste. I closed my eyes and swallowed heavily while taking my face away. With the kind of strength the two of them possess, I can bet this fight would be bloody. "What is going on here?" Someone asked from behind, interrupting the two guys before the fight got more intense. Clyde had already given three powerful blows to Otis, he was about to dish out another punch before the authoritative voice of whomever that was behind stopped him midway. I released a deep breath and opened my eyes only to take in the frightful look on the faces of the students. My eyes followed their gaze to

Nyx's POV "Sylvia" Aunt Gacia replied and pulled out a cloak from the wall, revealing a magnificent clear mirror. "Wow," I felt my jaw drop to the floor as my eyes stuck to my reflection which was staring back at me through the mirror. Then it hit me, "My mom wants to talk? When did she start caring about my welfare?" I asked with an eye roll while folding my hands under my breast. "Stop Nyx, you are only misunderstanding this whole arrangement. Trust me Niece, this whole act, all of this is just for your own good and nothing more" Aunt Gacia's said in a pleading tune. I only scoffed and turned my face away from her "What more is there to understand Aunt Garcia? I don't need a reminder that I am a fragile being who has not transformed even when she is already past the age. Sylvia is clearly disappointed in me Aunt Garcia, I can't bear to see the look on her face or the disdain in her tune if I eventually talk to her" "Nyx, you need to understand that Sylvia is still your moth

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 89: Take It Or Leave It

Nyx's POV I heard some mumbling and then shuffling and strained my ears while asleep. Suddenly the sounds died down and the room returned to its silent state. I snuggled into my pillow intending to fall asleep again when the mumbling sound came again. My eyes fluttered open, slowly taking in my environment. Narin sat crosslegged on her bed with two sticks of incense smoldering at the end that was lit and releasing fragrant smoke into the atmosphere. The stick burns slowly, and as it does, the smoke travels up the length of the stick, creating beautiful patterns and swirls in the air. The scent of the incense filled the room, creating a calming and relaxing atmosphere. A small portrait lay in between the burning sticks and I needed not to be reminded whose picture it is. I watched Narin as she mumbled words of prayers while twirling a beady bracelet in her hands for some time before climbing down from my bed quietly. My body ached from the sleeping position I lay in, so I walk

Nyx's POV I felt my cheeks flare up in embarrassment and was about to turn to her only to bump into someone and spilling almost all my food on them. "Freak! Watch it will you!" I stared at Penelope who was standing in front of me with a terribly soiled uniform, yes you got that right, she was the one I bumped into. "Oh dear, sorry I misplaced you for a trash can but come to think of it, you actually look it" I mocked watching as Penelope's face turned red with anger. "One piece of advice Pen" I whispered and went closer to her ear, "You are not pretty so stop acting like you are, it's blinding" I gave her a thumbs up. "I wish you have a nice day today witch" I muttered, giving her a smug smile. "How dare you!" Penelope grabbed me in anger and almost hit me when Cindy came rushing in a flash of speed in her direction and slamming her to the wall while holding onto her neck. "I wouldn't try that next time if I were you" Cindy's voice was low and threatening. She bored holes insi

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 91: A Bucket Of Ice

Nyx's POV I felt like a bucket of ice had been dumped on my body when Narek left after his warning which sounded much more creepy than it really is. Sensing that I was running late to Mrs. McMillan's class, I dragged my feet to the venue and tried my best to concentrate on her teaching. I tried to forget about Narek's words but the more I tried, the more I was filled with dread about what the reality is. Liz could be evil but what baffles me is why I am her prey, what does she want from me? The bell for recess went after my last class and I hurried down to the cafeteria to meet with Narin and if possible, the other members of the Rebels to discuss this with them. I was relieved to see Cindy sitting at the same table with Narin and made a beeline straight to their sitting position forfeiting my earlier plans of getting something to eat first. "Good thing you're here Nyx" Narin smiled when I joined them. " Yea" I return the smile and turned to Cindy, "I'm happy that you are here

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 92: The Next Phase

Nyx's POV I picked up my phone and stared at the message with furrowed brows. Narin had written that she had a project to do in school and would not be coming back until late in the evening. "At least she would make it before curfew. There is no cause for alarm, Narin can always take care of herself " I told myself and proceeded to prepare for my training with Narek. After putting on a loose-fitting tracksuit I deemed perfect for easy movement during my training, I made my way to the ancient temple while practicing some of the moves Narek thought me from our last session together. Narek was engaged in a serious conversation with someone inside the temple and the moment I pushed the huge entrance door open, they both turned to me. "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt" I apologized with a nervous smile, looking over at Narek's guests whose face was covered with a veil. "Welcome Nyx. Go over to the back and start practicing. I will join you soon" Narek ordered and I nodded

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 93: Ice Cold

Narin's POV Earlier that same day I watched Ms. Toddleboar, our teacher for 'Care of creatures' mix some ingredients into a pot that was glowing with a light green mixture with utmost concentration. Only that, she is not the teacher for our Alchemy class or like we prefer to call it, potion-making class but she is only filling in for Mr. Wood, a troll like her but he reported sick and so couldn't attend his class. Ms. Toddleboar was doing just fine, her knowledge of lots of courses is fascinating and she is kind too. Her classes are always interesting and exciting too, just like this one. But as always, her shoes find a way to amuse me whenever I am in her class. "If you were being attentive in your herbology classes, you will notice that many herbs are useful. Every plant is unique and has its special ability in seeing to our wellbeing. For the experiment, we will be using the chamomile plant to finish the preparation of the healing portion" she explained and began to crush

Nyx's POV "Noooo" I yelled and fell to my knees. Ms. Toddleboar's warning resounded in my eardrums. "A war is coming and it is your fight. It is going to be a deadly one, you will lose your loved ones but at last, you shall be victorious. But you have to be ready and face all you meet, else you fall into the darkness and your ability taken away from you like it never existed in the first place" This was what she was speaking about, my eyes turned to Narek who was sprawled on the floor, his eyes held so much pain as he gazed into mine. Aman stood above him, panting heavily as blood trickled down his injured face. Clyde's tattoos and runes had finally wiped away from his skin and he fell limply to the floor, drained. Tears gushed out of my eyes as I clasped my hand over my mouth and cried bitterly. Aman moved away from Narek's side and joined Otis who was standing beside Sylvia. "No, no, no this can't be happening" I muttered breathlessly, running towards Narek who was hardly

Nyx's POV "I came back as soon as I sensed you were out of your hiding after searching for you all over the woods. How dare you stress me out like that!" Sylvia scolded me. Her voice was coated in anger which she had bottled up in her chest. I rolled my eyes inwardly. "You ingrate, I have tried everything to explain things to you but you wouldn't adhere. In the long run, you too shall be rewarded greatly only if you and your aunt allowed this exercise to take place. But what did you two do instead? Invite your weak friends to stand up against us and now you are yelling for us to stop tormenting them" "I am no ingrate Sylvia and I wish to remind you that this mission will remain impossible as far as I am still alive and breathing" I retorted and she smiled darkly. "Even if it costs the life of your dear mate and friends?" She asked while raising her hands in the air and at the same time, a dark energy enveloped Otis, Narek, and Clyde, raising them high in the sky as they struggl

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 139: My Battle

Nyx's POV After some time of resting just like Clyde suggested, the antidote worked fervently and Claire bounced back to life in minutes. I was glad she was now safe but at the same time, I needed to make sure my mates, Narek and Otis were okay as well. "No Nyx, it's dangerous. I can't let you go out there alone" Clyde stopped me when I was about living our temporary hideout. "Then come with me. This is my battle Clyde and I won't be able to bear it if they lose their life in my place. Remember what happened in the case of Miss Pendleton, I wouldn't be able to bear losing another loved one to the hands of those evil beings" I returned stubbornly. He rubbed his face in frustration, "Still Nyx, I don't think it is right for you to come out to join the fight. I have been in a fight with Otis and I could tell you that with the ability he possesses, he will do well in taking care of the Sorcerers. Not to talk of Narek who is a master in the arts of magic, defense, and attacks" Clyde

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 138: My Vulnerable State

Narek's POV The pain I felt from trying to break free from the barrier of radiant energy I was trapped in was agonizing and I roared loudly in frustration. My mind wandered back to Nyx who had run off long before now and Aman is back already. I wondered if she is safe and neither Aman nor Sylvia were able to get to her. Those sorcerers did not seem like they were going to give me some time to absorb the electrifying effects their cage was pushing into my skin as Gin formed some sort of dark ball and sent it my way. This was me in my vulnerable state, I was bound and unable to easily break free from the cocoon they put their hands together to create. It was a powerful one that was sizzling with electric fury and threatening to burn my skin as soon as I attempt breaking away. The dark ball penetrated into my chest and I howled out in pain, the effect constricting my heart in such a painful manner, I thought he was going to pull it out of my body. Odin did not seem like he was don

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 137: A Demon Warlock

Otis's POV The Sorcerer who was standing just before Narek's frail body fell to the floor due to the impact of my wolf's collision with him and the older one instantly rushed to his side to help him up. I made my way to Narek's side, still in my wolf form, and licked his wounds to express my concern. He squinted his eyes at me, trying to make out my identity and when he did, he released a frustrated sigh. "Otis, you still came after all I told you" he grumbled and groaned in pain, "Nyx, have you seen her anywhere?" He managed to ask amidst the growl that was coming from his throat. Narek's bones began to crack and his skin color began to change, I could tell he was on the verge of transformation, and quickly stepped away from him. I had just taken four steps backward when my feet were suddenly swept off the floor but I was quick to regain my composure due to Xavier's inner strength and resilience. My eyes met with that of the older Sorcerer who was glaring at me coldly. He se

  • Taming The Reaper's Heir   Chapter 136: A Good Show

Narek's POV Once Nyx began running away from the evil sorcerers for safety, I raised my staff to the sky, my eyes gleaming with a mix of determination and a hint of uncertainty. The elders and late Miss Pendleton's sister sure were daring but I wouldn't want to appear frightened or intimidated by the presence. I would do all it takes to make sure Nyx is safe from them, even if it means fighting them off with my very last strength. "He will be easy to handle, Go on Sylvia. Get your daughter back to us, Gin can go with you" The older-looking elder in their midst stated. "No, I am going to fight him instead. He made a fool out of me earlier but it's high time I put him in his place" Gin snarled while glaring daggers at me. "I'm fine on my own Odin, I can find my daughter and bring her back without the help of anyone, let alone a weakling" Sylvia eyed Gin before snapping her fingers and disappearing into the air. "Good then, I guess it's worth a show" Odin cackled mischievously set

Nyx's POV With a swift speed, I never expected to possess, I grabbed Aunt Gacia and fell to the floor with her in my arms. Her face became pale in seconds and tears dropped from my eyes. She slowly reached for my face and wiped my tears away, smiling sadly. "That's him, the intruder!" One of the elders growled as he made to attack Narek who fought back with matching strength while the others stood on standby and watched on. "No, please don't die on me Aunt, we need to escape here together" I cried loudly, pulling her to my bosom. Her bleeding wound was already staining my hands but I did not mind. "Nyx, you must go now" she coughed, dark blood spurting out of her mouth. "No, I'm not going anywhere without you" I returned stubbornly, struggling to get her to stand on her feet. "Stop being stupid Nyx and save yourself" She clasped my hand, staring right into my eyes in pure concern. "I'm sorry I couldn't do much to help you but I believe it is not over until it is over. Nyx's POV "Garcia, haven't we waited long enough? Why is it taking so long to change?" The grumpy elder, Aman complained after he had asked Aunt Garcia to change her outfit to no avail. "Thank you Aunt" I whispered to her ear after she had broken the news about Narek coming to my rescue to me. She only squeezed my hand lovingly, a satisfied glint in her eyes, "anytime niece". Sylvia noticed the both of us and cast Garcia a warning glance, Miss Pendleton did not seem bothered by it anyways. "Garcia, a word" Mother requested, slowly moving away from the table where I lay and pulling Aunt Garcia alongside her. "Not again, why do you ladies always find a way to slow us down in everything" "Enough Aman, let the sisters talk" the Elder with the ancient book reprimanded grumpy Aman for always complaining. "What an insatiable being" I muttered under my breath as I glared at him from behind. I was certain this was Aunt Gacia's way of stalling them and I was grateful things were falling

Narek's POV I barged into Miss Pendleton's office, my fist clenched in anger and my face stoic and unsmiling. Her back was turned against me as she stood before the window at the back of her desk. Staring outside the bustling surroundings of the school, she sipped from the green mug she was holding in her hands. "What is this I hear about Nyx? She was abducted right under your nose and there's nothing you are doing to see to her return?" I asked in rage, trying my best to keep myself together and not cause a ruckus. Unlike me, miss Pendleton was at peace and did not seem so worried about anything. "Did they snitch on me already?" She chortled instead and sipped from her mug, "Whom did you hear about this from? Narin Oregon, her roommate or Otis Agni, Nyx's mate?" "That is not what is important at the moment Miss Pendleton" I returned through gritted teeth while tightening my hands which was in a fist. "I understand they are worried about her. Why wouldn't they? Nyx conside
