The day began in a very ordinary fashion. Few minutes after six-thirty, she was roused from sleep by Nathan. They had spent the night talking and eating. Ava's loud laughs could be heard all over the house. Dean who was fast asleep used his pillow to block his ears; single people like him needed a breathing space but Ava and Nate didn't take this into consideration as their hearty laughter could be heard loudly in his room. Megan on the other hand, was very relieved. At least, her mother's wish of Nathan finding true love and seeing him get married was finally coming to past. The night was still young. Nathan and Ava talked about a lot of things ranging from their families to his past love life to work. She fell asleep some minutes past twelve. He tucked her in to bed and left after switching off the lights. Her lashes fluttered as she slowly opened her eyes only to get blinded by the streaks of sunlight that had sneaked into her room through the window.
“ Uhm, gentlemen... Just found out I have somewhere to be...” Nathan said with urgency and in the next minute, both CEO and manager ran out of the meeting room. “ We will have this rescheduled. I'm sorry for..” He stopped midway as he had already gotten to the reception hall. It was strange to see Nathan Lewis and Dean Parker, two very matured and sophisticated men running out of the company in broad daylight like they were both chased. “ Hurry, George. We need to get home...” Nathan was impatient through out the ride. “ Why isn't Megan taking her damned calls?” Nathan yelled frustratedly. “ Relax. We are going to find her.. Don't you think we should involve the police?” Dean asked he tried to make a few calls. “ The police? Of what use are they? The only people who can solve this is us, Dean.” He said with clenched teeth. “ Calm down, Natha..” A call stopped him from completing his statement. “ It's Giovanni.” He inf
“ What do you mean you can't find the girl? It's not even up to twenty minutes I left there.” “ Sorry ma'am but she's no where to be found.” “ You mean to tell me two huge, grownup men couldn't handle a weak lady? Aaarghh, are you that daft?” No response was given as they waited for her next command. “ Find her! I don't care how you do it. Find her, I won't take it lightly if she's not found within an hour. That's my golden ticket for getting more money, how could you be so careless?” Camille's anger brewed. She hung up and they got to work. She couldn't have gone far.. Camille reversed and drove slowly, she was on the lookout for Ava. If she was coming in this direction, she would be able to see her. ‘ Silly girl. After stealing my spot, you had the guts to escape. When I could have become so wealthy.’ Camille hit the driver's wheel frustratedly and kept an eye for any strange movement. This was Princeton, one of the oldest streets in V.
“ Ava, Ava. I thought I lost you.” Dean cried as he held her tightly. He was crying so hard and Ava sobbed. Megan relaxed and Dean heaved a sigh of relief. What would have happened if she had died? Nathan would have gone beserk. He would be a beast that was untamed. A beast who's fury was unleashed and Camille would be his first victim. " Wait, who shot him?" She asked innocently. She had seen a body drop and she clearly didn't want to believe Nathan had taken a life. Here comes the question he had been hoping she wouldn't remember to ask. “ Body? What body?” Nathan asked surprised and Megan and Dean played along. “ I saw a body drop. He was about to attack me but he fell down as a bullet crushed his evil heart.” “ We came in right after he died Ava, we are still shocked also. We did not see anyone pull the trigger but we had seen a body.” Megan covered up for Nathan who was already short of words. How does he explain he took a life without
“ Vincent? What's going on? I thought you said we would be leaving tomorrow?” Tricia asked while she watched him turn the neatly arranged room into a mess. He was looking for nothing in particular. The wardrobe was turned upside down and there were clothes lying about. He had already packed his luggage. But what was he looking for? “ Did you by chance touch my stuff?” He asked ignoring her question. His breathing was haggard and his eyes were bloodshot. What happened? “ No, I didn't. You told me not to, remember? And I never did.” Tricia replied. He had warned her never to go through his things. She was never allowed to check his bedside drawers or his wardrobe and she never did. What could he be hiding? She was definitely curious to know but wouldn't dare go against him. “ Alright. Go get your things ready. We will leave in an hour.” He commanded and she left immediately. He made sure the door was locked before he went back to check again. He found
The ride to the hotel Vincent had booked was a slow, silent one. Tricia whose eyes were tightly shut was far gone, far gone in a world of her own. It was still hard to take in. What she had saw was more like a revelation, this didn't happen in the past. It was bound to happen here in a few days time. “ You've been acting weird, Tricia. You don't look excited no more, what's wrong?” His lips quivered and for the first time since they got into the taxi, he made attempt to ask why the frightened lady beside him was spacing out. Her lashes fluttered and her pretty, well carved lips had a small smile spread out; obviously a fake. Now that she knew what he was capable of, she would tread cautiously with him. But first of all, she needed to see this billionaire. Nathan, that was the only name she heard. How does she go about looking for a particular rich CEO that was known as just Nathan in a city filled with billions of people? Impossible. But she would definitel
“ Hi Caryn, change of plans. I just arrived in V. Let's grab some coffee tomorrow?” He had returned quite late and Tricia was worried sick about him. It was past 1am and he came back almost drunk. She tried reaching him but no one answered the phone. With her nightgown almost revealing her cleavages, she hurried downstairs to the reception. Maybe she could go find him? What was she even thinking? In her nightie? “ Uhm, Miss.. you can't leave the premises. Your husband asked us to make sure you don't. Sorry..” the receptionist muttered while trying to understand why someone would walk about a hotel in her nighties. “ Great! He's not answering his call and also stopped by the reception to issue a warning. Great..” Tricia who was clearly frustrated, muttered and walked away leaving the receptionist to wonder what sort of women walk about in their nighties, at a hotel. She stayed up waiting for him but when he came, he just went to bed with no explanation on w
“ Did she like it?” Megan asked the moment he came back with his face lit up in smiles. “ She did. As a matter of fact, she loved it. Thank you so much Meg..” He smiled sweetly and his phone rang. His smile was replaced with a frown, it was a strange caller. “ Hi, Nathan Lewis on the line. How may I help you?” He responded in his business like tone and waited for whoever it was on the other side to reply. “ Nathan. Still alive?” The person on the other end replied. It was enough to send shivers of fear down his spine as he stood transfixed like someone who was being electrocuted. “ Vin.. Vin.. Vincent..” He stammered and Megan's ears stood up like that of an elf. Vincent? Nathan had said he would come but wasn't it quite early? “ Mr. Nathan. We meet again, old friend.” He responded, taking a break between each word. “ Why.. what do you want?” “ Charlotte sent her regards, Nathan. it's being a while..” “ What d
[ Warning! This Chapter Contains Mature Content Not Suitable For Young Readers.] He gently unzipped my dress and the gown fell to ground. His gaze was causing more bad than good. It made me crave him more. I stepped out of it, our gaze still locked. In the past one second, Nathan has stared at my body in awe countless times. And here I was in the middle of some airplane, half naked with just my panties on. What if someone walked in? “ I will go change now. Hey, stop staring at me like that. It makes me want you more.. you have to promise to be a good boy and behave. We will have all the time in the world to worship each other's body when we are off this airplane.” “ I never said I planned to be a good boy, Aviva. Maybe I was but I changed my mind the moment I saw your smoking hot body. I really can't promise to keep my hands to myself, princess.” And he was being honest. I could make out the hunger in his voice as he spoke. I had starved this man
Hi, lovelies, I'm so excited to be back. I took a break but now, I'm are back fully. I'm so sorry for the delay. Ava and Nathan's love story is about to end.. We have just a chapter or two more to go.. And also for this last part of the book, I will be making use of the first person POV. Enjoy!! ***** “ Do you, Aviva Alexander, take Nathan Lewis to be your lawfully wedded husband?” Silence. The buzzing hall was now as silent as a graveyard. I'm sure you could hear just how loud one's heart pounded if you listened keenly. I smiled at Nathan, he had tears running freely down his face. Today, he dropped the “ Strong, arrogant CEO who doesn't give a fuck about anyone” and in it's stead, was a handsome young man who was capable of loving someone. In him I saw someone who was tamed to love, someone who doesn't know just how much love he's capable of giving because he has never given it a try. “ Uhm, I don't know if you noticed fluffy bear, but they are a
“ Nathan!” What was she doing here? It's a modeling audition for crying out loud. Nathan and Aviva folded their arms and watched her yell and whine about him being married. “ Caryn, can you slow down? By the way, who's married to you?” he asked and all eyes were fixed on them. This would serve as good entertainment while the judges were away tabulating the scores. “ Nathan Lewis, I will not have you humiliate me this way. I won't! Now, get up and let's go home.” she ordered like some boss who was passing out instructions to her employees. “ I'm not going anywhere, just yet Caryn. You can either have your seat and enjoy the show or you can choose to leave. Whichever works for you, my lady.” “ Are you being serious here? You're doing all this because of this, this ugly, classless girl? Are you not ashamed being seen with her? I'm pretty disappointed in you, Nathan. We have sophisticated, elegant and smart ladies in this city but you choose to chea
Modeling Audition, Semi-final & final. “ Nervous? I believe you will do perfectly well. You scaled through the last round remember? You will get through this also. We are rooting for you, Aviva.” “ Oh my goodness, this is the first time I have ever heard you say something positive. Thank you so much, Avery. I love you so much..” “ Girls, they are about to start. Come over.” Alex called out. Avery stared at her sister, she was grateful she had everyone back. They held hands and walked into the hall which was filled to the brim with people. Luckily, Alex had been able to secure seats for them all. “ Good day, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the semi finals/ finals. We are pleased to see you all. After the first round, hundred people were screened out and only twenty were qualified to move on to the next stage.” “ Well, only five people will be taken from this round to go on to the final round where we will pick only two persons. B
“ Mom. I got the money and narrowly escaped death. Someone else has been framed for stealing the money.” she informed her mom on phone and the lady went hysterical. “ You got it? That's my girl. You're just like your mom, Caryn. I'm so proud of you, darling.” “ Thank you mom. I will transfer half of the money to Dad's account. I want his company to be back on its feet for good.” “ Alright love. Your father sends his regards. One more thing Caryn, be careful out there.” “ I will. I love you, I have to go now.” They were outside, with ears glued on her door. They had heard it all, but Nathan beckoned on them to follow him. They tiptoed, to avoid being heard. “ Now that we have gotten concrete evidence, what do we do next?” Hazel interrogated. “ We will let her keep the money. I'm gathering a lot of evidence and by the end of the day, she would be left with nothing. All she stole right now, is the alimony I'm supposed to pay a
“ What's going on?” There was absolute silence. If a pin had fell down, there was every certainty it would be heard. She walked in and met her beloved family in a state of distraught. She was sure they had heard the news already. “ Nathan honey, what is it? Why are you all seated there like some bunch of robots? Talk to me, somebody.” if there was one thing she was good at, it was pretense. She threw her shoes on the floor and rested her head on the couch. If they were not going to talk, then she would let them be. It was difficult to breathe as she felt a sharp pain around her neck. No one had expected it, not even Caryn herself. Nathan held her tightly around her neck, his fingers tightened every second, and his nails dug deeper into her skin. It wouldn't be long before she started bleeding. “ What are you doing, Nathan? Put her down!” Dean yelled but Nathan was no longer in control. He was infuriated and couldn't even hide it. “ N
The dim light in the room made it a bit easy to see. These days she kept her curtains closed and the lamp, off. Today, she felt switching on a candle would be better. She had been in bed all day, doing nothing but mope. Her door moved slowly, and the dim light barely made it easy to see the lady's face. The woman who had birthed her, but now, it felt like they were two strangers meeting for the first time. Lina had walked in, without the tiniest courtesy of knocking. Ever since the issues with Ava, her family treated her like a complete outcast, her dad not excluded. They avoided her like a plague. The only activity that brought them together as a family, was eating at the dinning table. On most days, she would have her meal upstairs in her room. She decided to tag along to Ava's audition, not because she was invited but she felt like going. Rolling her eyes and heaving a deep sigh, she rolled to the other end of the bed. Her back was turned to Carolina,
Now he knew why Dean made that prayer yesterday. He knew she was a bad cook but he didn't think it would be this bad. What happened last night was a mistake that would never repeat itself. Penne pasta with vodka sauce and some parmesan cheese. After the funny but useful prayer from Dean, they all grabbed their cutleries and proceeded to feast on the meal she had made. Dean went first and spat it out the moment it got into his mouth. “ Hell nah, I'm not doing this. I'm not doing this with y'all, I will ask the maid to make me something.” “ But it's really not that bad, Dean. Just close your eyes and chew quickly. Caryn you are such a good cook, no doubts.” Hazel spoke, forcing a spoonful of poison into her mouth. “ Do you like it? I did well, right?” she asked innocently. Nathan nodded, they all nodded. Hazel made Dean take a few more spoons of the terrible concoction she made. And for a sec, they had initially thought it wouldn't be as bad as
“ Why does the room look like someone went through our things.” he inquired after taking a thorough look around the room. Something wasn't right, the drawers had items sticking out. The wardrobe wasn't properly closed, the pillows were wrongly arranged and the bed looked like someone had jumped on them. With a smile of deceit, she rubbed her palms and walked closer. Nervously, she asked. “ What do you mean?” her voice was shaky and her heart was pounding so loudly. “ I mean..” but on second thoughts, there was really no need to engage her in a conversation or questions her, knowing fully well she would deny ever searching for only God knows what, thereby turning the house into a mess. “ Nothing. Hazel is home, she lost her baby. I thought you should know.” he said with his gaze fixed on nothing in particular. “ Poor little thing. I will go check on her later, she must be feeling so sad at the moment.” Playing along, he replied.“ Yeah, she
