WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING HERE?
How did I end up in my story, again?! I just can’t show up in her house with nothing like “Hey Cass! I’m back from my world and I don’t how I ended up here.” I sighed and saw a café, maybe I can buy food and give it to her as a thank you for what she’d done last time.
Maybe I can find some clues in her house as to why I ended up here again. Good job ol’ me!
I went inside the café and gasped, oh how beautiful this café is! It’s like those Korean cafes you see on kdramas. I went to look at the pastries and my mouth waters at the sight, there are a variety of pastries, ranging from breads to cakes. I didn’t notice I was hungry till my stomach decided to growl.
I saw a beautiful woman walked towards me, “good afternoon, see anything you like?” she asked me softly and I looked back at the shelves of food, and I couldn’t decide what to get, everything looks tasty. “I’m guessing you’re new here?” she suddenly said.
I nodded and looked back at her, she’s really beautiful, from her jet-black hair to her striking blue eyes. “People from around here always got their favorite pastries and it looks like you haven’t tried any of these yet, so I’m guessing you’re new here in the place.”
“Actually, I’m visiting a friend from here.” I explained while intertwining my hands shyly. Her eyes twinkled in delight, “great! So, you’re buying for the both you!” I nodded again looking back at the pastries. I would love to get one of each, but sadly I don’t have enough money to buy all of them.
“Can you suggest some?” she gladly said yes, and happily points at the blueberry cheesecakes. “That’s one of our best sellers, you can also try our macarons and cinnamon rolls.” I smiled, already knowing what to get after she said those.
She went to get the pastries I’ve chosen and went to the counter to ring it, she then handed me the box, and I sat at a table near the window first to eat my cheesecake with a coffee.
I let out a contented sigh, delicious as I predicted. I just hope I can bring this back when I wake up so I can share it to Xander, I’m sure he’ll like it and would want to come here too. As I drank my coffee, I still don’t know how I got here. Is this another dream? Did I walk inside a portal in my dream? What is the reason why I always come back here? I shook my head to get rid of these weird thoughts because my mind makes one question and another and I don’t have any answers at all, it makes my head dizzy, so I just take a bite of my cake. I should just enjoy this moment with my cheesecake.
Oh my, it is so good!
But I didn’t expect some firework explosion in my mouth. That only happens in stories, trust me, I know. How I wish I could go here every day so I could try all the tasty pastries.
Now that I think of it, it is a perfect place for me to write my stories, it’s so quiet and the ambiance is nice. Plus, the lady who approached me looks nice, maybe we could be friends too. Sadly, I finished eating and went to leave to do whatever agenda I had to do, but not before saying goodbye to the kind lady whose name’s Beatrice.
Fortunately, I still know where Cassiopeia lives and I was surprised as Alexander answers the door, “Uh hi?”
I tried hiding my laughter from his reaction, he probably thought I’m gone for good. “Hello, come in.” He said unsurely but opens the door wide enough for me to come inside, and I saw Cass go down the stairs.
“Kaia?” she seemed surprised and confused too, so I showed them the box of food as a distraction. “Hello Cass! Pastries?” she gladly took it and I sat down on a chair.
“I just went to a café, I forgot the name of it, I don’t know what you both like, good thing the kind lady told me that their Blueberry Cheesecake is good and trust me when I say it’s really good. I have tried it a while ago before going here.” Alexander offered me some tea he made, and I gladly accepted it, and I took a sip.
“So, what brings you here?” he asked gently, trying not to sound rude and I looked at them both. “I just wanted to say thank you again and handed this cake. Did I… interrupted something?”
Judging by Cass who just finished taking a bath… I smirked at them.
They looked at each other and their eyes widens in horror, “No… Oh my, no…” Alexander muttered, and Cass blushed furiously. I laughed at their reactions as they clearly misunderstood me, and I shook my head. “I was not thinking about that, seriously guys! Whatever it is that you’re thinking is wrong. I just thought since Cass had just taken a shower, I thought you’re going to go somewhere.”
Cassiopeia let out a breath and looked at me, “we were at the park awhile ago, it was fun well… until I fainted.” That stopped me from laughing and I looked at her. That’s what I was writing, before I had gone here. I felt the guilt creeping inside of me. This is my story; I should have known the flow of this.
I never thought my story could affect someone. But then, I shook my head. No. This is all just a dream, they’re not real. I shouldn’t feel guilty about this.
“What happened?” I asked her slowly, like I didn’t know what happened.
“I forgot to take my meds that’s all. Alexander didn’t tell me what happened after I fainted.” She looked at Alexander to tell him to go ahead and tell what happened. Alexander took a sip on his tea, “After I saw you on the ground, a nurse checked up on you and we brought you here. Well, at first I was reluctant to tell her your condition but then she got irritated and told me she’ll just go, and I don’t know what to do with you, so I gave in…”
Yep, that’s exactly what happened in my story. I was starting to get used on how the scenes are flashing in front of me.
“You should be careful to yourself! When you’re going out, you shouldn’t forget to take your medication.” I scolded as I grew concerned for her, even though she’s just a character I still need to look worried for her, and she just laughed heartily.
“Oh Kaia, you sounded like my mom.” I grinned at her, “Maybe I am your mom in disguise.” I joked and she just smiled. “That’s impossible, she’s in the other side of the town with dad.” I don’t know if she didn’t get my joke, or she just doesn’t want me to pretend to be her mom, so I opened the box and gave one slice to Alex and one for Cassiopeia. I was excited for their reaction so I watched them eat.
They took a bite of it, and they looked at each other, “It is pretty good!” Cass said and took another bite, “I could eat a whole of this.” Alexander muttered closing his eyes dramatically, that satisfies me and I grinned proudly.
“Where’d you bought this?”
I looked at the box and smiled remembering the beautiful lady. “It’s from the café near the mall. The owner Beatrice suggested that I buy this one and it didn’t disappoint.” I waited for them to finish, and Cass dragged me to her room leaving Alexander to clean up the plates.
“I wanted to show you something, I’ve been practicing this for a week.” She opened her drawers and took out some papers. “These are my designs for Henna tattoos” she said bouncing on her bed and shoving the papers to my face. And as expected from a talented artist like her, all designs were pretty good.
“Wow, all of these are very pretty.” She nodded and began searching again.
“I know, there’s this fair I’m going to, and I’ll do hennas for the kids. Just to have money for medicines and stuff.” She grabbed a jar and a paint brush.
“Pick any design you want; I’ll do it on you for free.” I shook my head.
“No, I can pay for it…” she ignored me and went to get more papers, “Nonsense, you’re my friend now, it’s okay.” I looked at the drawings slowly and one design caught my eyes. It’s a star hanging at a crescent moon like a drop of water.
Cassiopeia followed what I was looking at and gushed “ooh that’s a good one! I don’t remember the reason why I drawn that, but I know it symbolizes love and protection.”
I smiled and gave it to her, “I want this on my wrist please.” She takes it and grinned. I gave her my hand and she cleaned my wrist with a tissue.
I watched as Cassiopeia went to do her thing, how can I let a kind girl like her to die just like that? I can’t believe I’d become attached to my characters. “Okay, all done!” I looked at it and smiled, it is perfect.
“So, what do you think?” and I said what’s exactly on my mind, “It’s perfect, I love it.” I hugged her tight.
“Thank you for this.” I whispered, she hugged me back and laughed. “It’s just a henna Kaia.” She said suddenly turned serious. “I know that we’re meant to be friends.” Cass said and started fixing her stuffs. “I somehow felt something when I found you asleep on my porch. I felt… connected to you, like a long-lost sister… Alexander even scolded me saying uh… not to be rude, you could be a killer or what. But I didn’t even think of that. I know you’re a good person.
I don’t know what to say to that.
“Thank you…” was all I said. “I wish I can show this to my friend Alex.” I murmured but unfortunately Cassiopeia heard it. “Xander? Like my boyfriend?”
I shook my head and smiled, “Xander, my best friend.” She hummed in understanding.
“I can do it to him too if you want. You can have matching hennas.” I sigh, “If only he’s here.” I don’t even know how I got here, so how will I make Xander to come? Is there a portal here?
“Does he live far from the city?”
“Yeah, you could say that.”
Kaia… Kaia…
I guess it is time for me to wake up. “thank you for this, but I have to go.” She nodded and we both head downstairs to see Alexander watching some cartoons. “Really Alex? We Bare Bears?” Cass joked and he fake a glare, “hey don’t diss my bears.” She rolled her eyes at his childishness.
“Anyway, Kaia’s about to go.” He nods and grinned at me, “till next time K.” I raised an eyebrow at that. “K?”
“What? We’re friends, now right?’ I laugh at that and hugged them both.

“Kaia”
I turned my back to the person talking, “five more minutes.” I heard a sigh, “Come on now Kaia, its already noon.” I groaned and slowly stood up.
“Slept late again?” I nodded and went to the bathroom to freshen up. Then we go downstairs to eat brunch. Cause apparently it is already one pm. “Hey Kay… what’s that on your wrist?”
I looked at my wrist and choked on my cereals. It’s Cassiopeia’s henna!
“Oh my gosh, it’s real! It’s not a dream!” I exclaimed and Xander looked confused. “It’s real Xander, I visited Cassiopeia.”
“You what?” he asked still confused, “This henna is from Cassiopeia, a character from my story, the one I’m currently writing.” He grabbed my wrist and examined it closely.“Are you sure you didn’t draw this?” I glared at him, “I’m a writer not an artist, you know I can’t draw even if my life depends on it.”He still didn’t look convinced, so I continue eating. No matter how many times I tell him, he just won’t believe it, but come to think of it, Cassiopeia and Xander were not a dream, they are true and alive, and this henna is a proof of it.More questions started to form in my head and it’s starting to give me headache.“Kaia look, can we please take a break from that story?” he pleaded and all I can do is nod weakly. No use in making him believe me now, he’s starting to get irritated. My phone vibrated; it was from an unknown num
We arrived at home, and he decided to have dinner here at my house. I stared at him as we eat our food quietly and I'm starting to go insane. We never eat quietly, as in never."Can you please talk to me? I'm starting to go crazy here." I said giving him a sad face.He stopped eating then sighed, "okay" was all he said and continued eating. I've waited for a few minutes, but he's still not talking."Hey! I'm sorry about awhile ago." I whined at him and gave him my cutest puppy eyes, hoping he couldn't resist it."You shouldn't have accepted his invitation." He said flicking me on the forehead."But I wanted to go see what's in there, besides, if we didn't come, I wouldn't know about that email." I said and glared at him as I remembered it again. We put the dishes on the sink, and go upstairs. He started to turn on the TV and went to grab some Cd's."What movie do you want to watch?"I gave him a look and he made a 'tsk'
I turned around, but my smile faltered. "Oh... Jake, why are you still here?" I asked softly looking for Xander, Jake raised an eyebrow, "the question is, why are you still here? your class ended like an hour ago."Just then, Xander passed by us without a glance in our direction.I looked back at Jake and let out a disappointed sigh, "class ended up late, and I forgot to bring my umbrella and was hoping someone I know would come to my rescue." I joked while looking at Xander's back who's already far.Realization crosses on Jake's face as he followed my gaze, "oh, is Xander's... does he... dang, I'm so stupid." he muttered with his head hung low.Somehow, I felt guilty so I nudged him on his side. "Hey, what are you talking about? I was just joking, but seriously I forgot my umbrella. Just incase you have one, maybe I could borrow it so I won't get wet in the rain." I said grinning at him innocently. He shook his head and grinned b
A pounding headache woke me up and I groaned, I looked at the room I'm in, and I noticed I'm at the clinic. A nurse went to me to check my temperature, I remembered losing my consciousness and heard someone calling my name."Uh, excuse me miss... did someone brought me here?" I asked the nurse after she finished checking up on me."Yeah, a guy brought you here. He stayed a bit long, but he has a class to attend to so he left."My heart beats faster, it was Xander, I'm sure of it."Your fever went down a bit, but you should give it a rest first. I'll give you a pass from your subjects so you could go home already." Well so much for going to school for the quiz, I didn't even get to take it.After she gave me the pass, I gathered my things and leave the room.I was surprised to see Xander walking outside the hallway, he was walking towards my direction, but when he saw me, he stopped in his tracks. We stared at each other for awhi
I went inside the house and saw Kayla waiting at the living room. “Did you see Xander? He’s been waiting there outside.”I shrugged as all my energy was drained again, interacting with Xander can be pretty tiring. “Why didn’t you let him in? and where did you go?” she sure has a lot of questions. I rolled my eyes at her, “why do you care? Don’t you have a party to attend to?”She sat beside me with a sigh, “I was just worried about you… you’re sick and I just panicked when I knew you weren’t with Xander.”I realized that I acted like a bitch and turned my anger from Xander to her.“I’m sorry…” I mumbled putting my face in my hands, “I’m fine… I’m with my friend Jake, and can you stop mentioning Xander’s name? I don’t want to think about him for a while…” she removed my hands to take a good look at
I quickly snapped back to my senses, “Uh… I’m sorry, I wasn’t looking to where I was going.” I apologized and she gave me a smile, “no worries, we’re both fine anyways. I’m Allison by the way.” She held out her hand for me to shake, I was about to say something when Xander arrived.“Hey, are you okay?” he asked, and I don’t know if he was pertaining to me or Allison, but I realized he was talking to her when he looked at her direction.I had never been this hurt, for all those years I’m friends with him, I was the only one he was ever concerned about. Asking her like that in front of me really hurts big time.“I’m alright, I just bumped into her. No worries, we’re fine.”When she pointed at me, that’s when Xander just noticed that I was there, and his eyes widened. “Hey… uh…” he stuttered as he doesn’t know what to s
Cassiopeia couldn't resist to squeal, and she hugged Alexander, Paramore is her favoriteband and is very popular. She knew they’re going to have a concert, but she also knew many people would want to go and that it will be sold out once the ticket was available.Alexander doesn’t like their songs, so she didn’t ask him about it, but now that he told her the news, “how did you managed to get those? And I thought you don’t like Paramore?”He shrugged, it’s true that he’s not a fan of their songs, as he prefers classical ones, but he wanted her to experience this, he knows how much she loves them and their songs, so the moment they announced the concert, he waited patiently and fought through a bunch of their fans and thankfully, he secured two tickets for both. After that, they decided to talk about the book Alexander brought, it was ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ and turns ou
I blinked my eyes quickly at our close proximity, then I pushed him away blushing.“Oh shut Jake just drive, the greenlight is on.” I said while looking out the window.“You’re cute when you’re flustered.” He said with a chuckle, “Jake… you know I like Xander.”He gave me a soft smile, “I already know that Kaia, but I’m here too… even just as a friend.” I’m really thankful for him always, I don’t want him to think that I’m using him as a rebound of Xander, so I always remind him that I only think of him as a close friend. We arrived at a diner, and I grinned as I craved for some burgers and fries again, “so why did you decide to invite me to eat dinner with you?” I asked him as we sat down by the windows.“I just had this weird feeling that you’re in need of help, so I asked you out to save you.” He joked and that earned him
We had arrived at the sushi place and boy was I hungry, we sat at a table for four and I immediately grabbed the menu.“Foods on me since it’s Kaia’s celebration.” Jake said proudly and Xander rolled his eyes, “I can pay my own meal thank you.” I put a palm on my forehead with a groan. Now why does this feel like de ja vu?“Oh free food is the best!” Allison suddenly said calling the waiter and I mouthed a ‘thank you’ to her, relieved that she butts in before a fight breaks in. We all ordered food and started eating in comfortable silence.“I’m so excited for the school festival, you’re coming right?” Allison asked Jake surprising us all.Jake looked at me before answering her, “of course, Kaia invited me.” She hummed in response, “great! The more the merrier, I can’t wait to meet your sister too Kaia.”I choked on my sushi
“Alexander, I told you I already dried my hair. Please stop throwing water at me.” Cassiopeia complained but Alex didn’t do anything, so he looked at her with a raised eyebrow.“I didn’t do anything, what do you mean?”Just then, he felt something on his head too, he looked at Jade who is behind him and Jade crossed her arms on her chest, “do you think I would do that?” she muttered and looked at the sky as droplets of water started to pour.“It’s raining, come on inside the car.” Alex said grabbing Cassiopeia’s hand, but she won’t budge.“Never mind that I dried my hair already, I want to play in the rain.” She said happily, “I don’t” Jade said rushing to the car leaving them getting wet.“It’s okay if you don’t want to join me Alex, being here was enough.” Cassiopeia s
"Do you really can’t go with us? We can eat at your favorite restaurant if you want.” Allison said and she kept giving me her puppy eyes look.I shook my head and gave her a grin, “I really can’t Allison, I still have to go with my groupmates. Kierra already ordered food and I was too shy to decline as they did a good job on the announcement board…”She pouted that I felt guilty, “how about you and Xander come to my book uh… I don’t know what it’s called.” I said in realization, is it a book report? Story telling? The two looked at me expectantly, “A book recital I guess… it will be held at the university, I could need some support.” I said awkwardly.Allison squealed, “of course we’re going! Right Xander?” she nudged him, and he gave me a soft smile, “I wouldn’t miss it.”We went back to the room after lunch to do the final touches o
I fell... right? But why didn't I feel any pain?I slowly opened my eyes and saw Xander under me, "are you okay?" He asked with a groan, and I immediately stood up to help him."You're asking me if I’m, okay? You're the one who's groaning in pain!" I said in concern, his position a while ago was very far from me, so I was very surprised when he saved me from the fall."Oh my gosh you two, are you both okay?" Allison rushed to us; I managed a nod but I still looked at Xander who's holding his forehead."I'm okay.""He's not."We both said and I looked at him to see that he's glaring at me."Well, I'm glad Kaia's okay, so
The four of us gathered at the table and Cassiopeia started slicing and handing the bread to us.“Thank you for making this, Cass.” I said as I received my plate, I saw Jade rolled her eyes and I gave her a smirk.I took a bite of the banana bread, and I must admit, it tastes so good. All of us ate quickly and Alex presented to wash the dishes so Cass could go back to what she was doing. I followed her back in the living room and Jade does the same, she sat beside Cassiopeia again and Cass looked at her in surprise.“You’re not going back to your room?”Jade’s eyebrows furrowed, “why? Can’t I watch you draw?” Cass shook her head, “you rarely hang with me, are you really that surprised that I know how to draw?” Jade avoided her gaze, “I just find it fascinating that’s all… besides, I don’t have anything else to do.” She muttered and I let out a soft laug
I don’t know what to say as I really thought it was Allison’s idea. It was Allison whose adamant save our friendship and Xander was just there with her.So, the feeling of someone brushing my hair away from my face was not just a dream… It was really him.“Did the strawberry milk worked?” she asked carefully, and I gave her a smirk, “I guess that was a smart move to apologize.” She laughed at me, and we hugged each other finally okay.“Are you going home now?” she asked me, but I shook my head, “I have to buy the materials needed for the announcement board.” She nodded in understanding, “maybe you’ll see Xander there, he’s the one assigned to buy the materials too.”I don’t know if I want to see him there honestly…We were still a bit awkward around each other, and I don’t know how to approach him and say that we’re cool now. I was ho
They are already done eating and Cassiopeia was about to go home when she saw Jade by the balcony, eating her pie. She told Alexander to wait for her and she went to Jade sitting at the vacant seat beside her. “I thought you already went home?” Jade muttered and Cass just shrugged.“I was about to, but then I saw you here enjoying my pie.” She teased Jade and Jade rolled her eyes, “don’t push it, you’re the one who told me to eat it. It would be a waste not to.” She said grabbing another bite. When Alexander and she ate it for dessert, she was surprised it came out good, he loves it and has eaten 2 more slices. “So?” Cassiopeia asked her, expecting Jade to give her a compliment.“Well, it wasn’t salty.” She teased her and Cass let out a grin, “admit it, it’s the best one you’ve ever tasted.” Jade w
“Is that all?” I asked coldly, he turned my chair around to make look at him.He looked so worn out, “I know nothing can make the situation better… I thought I could get her in time for our presentation, but when I saw, Kaia, I panicked… I don’t know what to do with her. I forgot everything and focused on helping her go back to normal.”I closed my eyes in annoyance, I already know what happened and I don’t want to hear his side of the story.“It’s always about her, isn’t it?” I whispered sadly; his eyebrows furrowed in confusion. “What?” I looked at him with a bitter smile, “ever since you’ve met her, it’s Allison this, Allison that. I know we’ve fought but am I that easy to replace?” my voice cracked.“You’ve always turned your attention to her then you forget about me.” My voice was getting softer till the end, I don&rsq
A sob left my mouth after I said that “Kaia? Wait, are you crying? What’s going on?” he asked in concern.I wiped my tears away, “I… they left me alone… I don’t know what to do Jake.” I cried to him and looked back inside the room, and I can see the teacher is already giving feedbacks to the first group.“Wait, Kaia calm down please? Baby calm down.”That made me cry harder, I heard him cursed under his breath and sigh, “Kaia… please listen to me… take a deep breath.” I followed what he said and that made me calm down a bit. After a few minutes, “are you okay now?” he asked gently, and I nodded but I remembered he can’t see me.“Yes…” I said softly, “can you explain what is happening?”So I did, I told him everything that happened today. I heard him cursed and let out a sigh, “Okay, since we don’t know
