71: You Die Today

It all happened in a fraction of a second. One minute I was standing right in front of Sara, calling out to her, and the next, yanked by a force that was as dark as the night before everything turned black.

I had desperately wished it was all just an awful nightmare. But as I opened my eyes slowly, I couldn't at first make out what I was, I knew I wasn't in the solace of my bed.

Not until I rolled and noticed I was on the ground did I realise it was all real. My brain snapped open and my surroundings came into view bleakly.

The room was pitch dark with only a glimmer of light at the far top of the ceiling which was metres away. I was on dusty ground with shards of hay and I could feel the taste of earth in my mouth.

I shifted and rubbed on something rigid and I screamed before realising it was a huge gnarled root of a tree. With the dim light, I could make out I was in a large room that looked old and abandoned.
