If Sara had been clingy around me before, she was certainly now a higher degree of clingy. She had probably not breathed ever since I told her I wasn't going back to Crescent Valley.

She kept on showing her beaming pleasure in me becoming her sister-in-law and a lot of things we would do together once the lockdown ended and the cure for the plague was found.

I couldn't keep up with her array of words but I tried my best to listen to her talk on and on.

At one point, I wanted to make an excuse to go and see Kai upstairs in his study but I wasn't going to give her the thought of the desperation I felt for Kai. I would never hear the end of it.

I sat in the living room as she asked me how and when I had changed my mind about not returning to Crescent Valley. I told her I was in love with Kai, as a matter of fact.

There was no use cooking up any stories to defend my decision.
