“This is so amazing! I can’t believe that you feast like this, without having sacrifices or anyone to worship!” I tell Alexander as I scoop another helping of stuffing onto my plate. “No wars or coups or anything. Just stuffing your face and hanging out all day. It’s the best!”

Alexander tilts his head back and laughs and I have to stop to watch him. Even with several years together under our belt, my mates are still mesmerizing to me. The way that the fall light plays in Alexander’s red hair, warming the perpetual tan that his skin holds, and highlights on his cheeks holds my gaze and I can’t look away until the tinkling sound of his laughter fades and he looks back at me with a huge grin on his face. “Gods, you are adorable,” he says and leans in to kiss me.
