CHAPTER 1

"I thought you loved me, but I think you made a fool of the love we share, I have never loved anyone the way I love you but you choose to pay me back in such a mean way".

"How can you be so heartless"?

Samantha was cut short by the sound of the phone ringing on her bed. It was the Managing Director at work calling her but she needed to sort the issue between her and Greg before it gets out of hand.

"I can explain Sam, it is not what you think, I was only trying to talk some sense into the girl because Dave wanted me to. That is one of Dave's mistress and he only wanted me to tell her to leave him alone, there is nothing going on between the both of us, I love you and that is all that matters".

"You are such a big lier, I saw the message on your phone you cheat, why is she calling you love when you both do not have a thing going on like you said"?

"Please baby", Greg was on his knees pleading as Samantha stepped out of the room banging the door behind her.

Going through life has been Samantha's biggest achievement as a young lady who decided to start life on her own after the death of her mother at a young age.

Samantha's father who was a multimillionaire left her mother when she was still young, but still took care of both her and her mother because of the love he had for his family.

Both parent wanted the best for their child not withstanding they were both divorced. Samantha stayed with her mother who was a workaholic and never really hard time for her daughter. She was able to finish highschool and furthered to college where she studied computer science.

During her freshman year she met Greg while she was in the library reading he was also a freshman. They become close friends and help each other with academic, Samantha was Greg financial backup, whenever he was in need, she was always ready to come through for him and assist him with money, grosseries and other basic things he wanted at anytime he ask due to their friendship, she was like is mother in school.

Although Greg was not from a wealthy family like Samantha, but he was able to get a scholarship into same college with her.

Their closeness grew from being regular friends till Greg decided to ask Samantha to be his girlfriend in their second year in college, they both continued in their relationship until Samantha's mother became ill which lead to her death.

Greg was Samantha's backbone during this period till they both graduated from college. Samantha's father decided to give her a job in his company but was turned down by his daughter, who told him she would like to be independent and get a job for herself, she insisted that her father give Greg the job.

Samantha rushed down the step angrily when she bumped into her neighbour Mike.

"Good morning Samantha, I stopped by your apartment yesterday to give you a parcel that was sent to my apartment by mistake" Mike said.

Mike who has been Samantha's neighbour for quite some time had eyes on her but decided to slow things down when he noticed Greg was in a relationship with Samantha who he sees most of the time at her apartment.

"Oh thank you, I was not home when you stopped by yesterday but I will come for it when I return from work".

Mike noticed the unhappiness on Samantha's face but choose not to ask, "I am late for work at the moment" Samantha said while she drove off after her little chat with Mike.

Samantha still annoyed about her encounter with Greg entered the establishment in a hurry and forgot to properly place her cloths and hair.

"Why are you looking like someone who was forced to leave the house" Brenda asked, Samantha was trying to figure out what Brenda meant until she saw herself through the reflecting glass.

"What kind of a day is this" Samantha said while trying to get her comb from her bag.

"Why are you late Sam, this is the first time in a long you are showing up late to work the Managing Director (MD) went to your office and discovered you were not on sit, anyway before you tell me what happened the Managing Director (MD) said I should give this to you and you should also meet him at the office with this letter".

"What's this letter for"?

So many thoughts ran through Samantha's mind in a second, am I being fired she wondered.

Samantha has already prepared her mind for the repercussion for being late.

What will I do if I am being fired, how will I prove to my father that I can be able to handle myself without working for him.

All this ran through Samantha's mind as she made her way to the Managing Director's office.
