Ch. 31 AN OLD ENEMY

Alpha Michael’s POV

"Don't be so sure, little pup," Marcus sneered, the twisted curl of his lips sending a shiver down my spine. "I have taken down bigger and better wolves than the two of you."

I charged at Marcus, but he easily sidestepped my attack, his massive fist connecting with my gut in a punishing blow that left me gasping for breath. I stumbled backwards, clutching at the aching, throbbing pain burning through my stomach, only to have Marcus close the distance between us, his fist slamming into my face with a sickening crunch.

Blood spurted from my nose, the metallic tang assaulting my senses as I swung my hands wildly, desperately trying to hit him back, but Marcus effortlessly avoided my clumsy, furious attempts.

"Michael, are you okay?" Robert's voice cut through the haze of pain, and I glimpsed him rushing to my side, his right arm hanging lifelessly, a trace of blood crimson oozing through his hand.
