Ravena travels to Silver Town after escaping from her red werewolf pack to learn what happened to her sister. Some Silver Wolves, however, refuse to accept her or her motivations, claiming that she is there to win the affection of the gray alpha leader, and they would stop at nothing to defend their home. Lucian Silver, the leader of the pack, is unable to avoid experiencing the sorrow of the past, especially when Ravena appears to him as a phantom from his memories. He must concede that not everything is as it seems when he is in charge and that perhaps this alluring red wolf can fit in after all when someone attempts to quiet her.

CHAPTER 1

Why, of all the desolate locations in the United States, had Freya, her loving sister, ended up dead? Perhaps that was the reason: it was remote, surrounded by forest, a haven from the harsh reality of the forced marriage, and secure from Bruin's retribution should he have ever discovered her. She hadn't been secure, though. She has since passed away.Ravena Wildhaven must have been wrong when she thought she saw her cousin Ural slink into the woods in his wolf form out of the corner of her eye. In order to avoid alerting the gray lupus garou pack that a pair of reds had trespassed into their area, he wouldn't be furious enough with her to shapeshift thus near to Silver Town. She pushed through the Silver Town Tavern's hefty door, disregarding her gut feeling that this was a very terrible idea. The rusted hinges' screeching jarred her tense nerves. She was suddenly terrified that the five bearded men at the table, who had turned to look at her, had seen right through her disguise.Hat

CHAPTER 2

The bartender clinked a few glasses as he studied her with a cunning wolf-like glare. He was definitely younger than middle age, but the beard made him appear older. His lips were still curled in a grin. Do you want to understand her? Or did he see what a fraud she really was? Wild animal hunting was nothing new, but this kind of hunting...She removed the cap from her bottle of water and took another look at her watch. Four twenty-five alone."Are you waiting for anyone?" Sam enquired while cocking a dark brow. She gave a headshake. Her obnoxious earrings danced, her cap jiggled, and her spectacles fell. The door wrenched open as two guys suddenly emerged in front of one of the dark tavern's windows. Her chest twitched.Sam, hey! One of them said, "Bring us a pitcher of beer. His amber eyes suggested cheeriness, and good humor echoed in his comments. He was around six feet tall—the same height as her brother—with windswept shoulder-length black hair, a freshly begun beard, and windsw

Crap! She instantly understood that he recognized her. It didn't matter that her eyes had become blue or that she had dyed her hair a hideous hue that did nothing for her light skin. It didn't matter that she wore her hair straight as uncut grass, thanks to a hair straightening iron, although her sister's and hers was naturally wavy, or that the heavy padded leather jacket gave her wider shoulders and made her seem heavier. She was unable to conceal the appearance of her mouth, eyes, or face. They all resembled her sister in appearance. However, his expression was perplexed. He looked to be perplexed by the hat and spectacles. Perhaps wearing fake pierced earrings that appeared to be real accomplished it as well. She was the first to break eye contact, her hands shaking and her skin perspiring. God, he was bigger and taller than the wolves she was used to dealing with. His guilty determination prevented him from averting his gaze from her or making a concession. It is understandable w

CHAPTER 4

Ravena was once again certain that she was about to be exposed as the woman drew in closer. Silva inhaled, her brown eyes growing droopy. Ravena prayed no one could smell that she was a lupus garou and not one of their own kind, despite the fact that she was wearing a ton of ostentatious human fragrances and, of course, the stench from the recent dye job—despite the fact that she had tried to mask that scent by washing her hair with strawberry shampoo. It appeared that it had failed.Good, good, good. Silva shifted her weight forward. Sam, please make the woman a margarita.Tom spoke out, "Put the first on my tab." "I wouldn't want the lady to think we're just a bunch of grumpy old coots," the man said.Silva responded, "The second one is on me."As much of a beta wolf as he appeared to be, the miner Joe Kelly appeared sad that he hadn't spoken out first, but he probably wouldn't say anything to irritate Lucian. The only exceptions would be Lucian's brothers, and Silva appeared to be

CHAPTER 5

The shortest one, who nevertheless towered above Ravena by several inches, said, "Hey, Ritka, what say we give her a nice send-off?"In order to wash her hands, Ravena brushed past her.A meatier one screamed, "Don't plan on staying, bitch," squeezing Ravena and flinging her waist-length, muddy-colored hair about as she talked. She would create a heavy wolf and be difficult to defeat if she battled the other two to become Lucian's bitch because she was bigger than the other two. Ravena was no longer being harassed by female lupus garou, at least not the red form, and she was having a difficult time keeping her composure."Don't plan to remain for too long. Just taking care of some little family business, if that's of any interest to you.Ritka murmured in Ravena's ear, her whiskey breath obstructing her ability to breathe. "Red, you can't have him. We know who you are. You are aware of what transpired with the other. Honey, get out of here before it happens to you too.Ravena tried to

CHAPTER 6

Ravena was going to attack her once again now that he was back. In a million years, no. Because she was mentally sick and unable to handle the pressure of dating the pack leader and not being one of them in the first place, she had killed herself. No, it wouldn't take place again. A gray would come next, but no one from his pack. Ravena couldn't forgive the eligible ladies who had disliked him, with the exception of Silva. He drank his third drink whole and then laid his glass aside. He made an effort to watch his fellow citizens in an effort to forget about his deceased companion, but the woman seated at his table fiercely diverted his attention. What in the world was she doing even here? Come to claim the body of her sister? Scream at him for driving her sister to the brink of a cliff? He didn't require assistance from anybody else because he had been feeling guilty enough about her death for the previous three weeks. He would never be able to forget Ravena's expression of being at

CHAPTER 7

The operative word here is "tried," as each of her senses was beginning to fail. She could no longer hear the breeze rustling through the firs or the birds chirping in the trees; all she could hear was her labored breathing and the thunder of her blood in her ears. She erred in her assessment of the terrain due to her blurry sight. The earth appeared to quake. She then lost her balance. She slashed and skinned her hands while grabbing onto bushes and brambles in an attempt to stop herself from falling down the steep hill. She first misplaced her hat, then her spectacles. One earring was scratched off by a branch, then the other. Every branch on her path was entangled in her hair, which was pulling at her scalp and causing the branches and twigs to release their grip as she rolled. Her entire body was crushed and wounded as she descended, pounding against rocks and tree stumps while gritting her teeth in discomfort. She briefly fretted about the hideous disguise and the trail she had l

CHAPTER 8

As others responded to the call, they dispersed and moved nearer while yelling Ravena's name. She grimaced. How did they discover her name? In order to prevent the grays from learning that she already had a pack—and a mate—Freya would have kept her family a secret. She was drawn to the gunman as he walked further away, but he was still too close.Jake, Lucian's moody brother, yelled when the air abruptly changed direction, "This way!"She kept an eye out for them, almost stopped breathing in excitement, and the agony was so bad she could hardly concentrate on anything else. But no one came to save her.In front of 30 of his men, everevery onewhom was now armed, Lucian marched back and forth through the dense forest. The pack had always retained guns—even though they often hunted in their wolf coats—as a backup plan for when local troublemakers overcame them throughout the region's previous 150 years."We thought we repeatedly scented her perfume, but the wind isn't being cooperative!

CHAPTER 9

Until he spoke again, her thoughts wandered. The question, "Who killed him?"She fixed her gaze on his naked chest, which was gorgeous and had light hair and muscles. Who said that a man's body couldn't be attractive? He had an extraordinarily genuine, lickable, and kissable appearance throughout.Lucian, I'm not sure who murdered him.Oh, dear. The shooter ought to have been questioned. Lucian gently warmed her by lowering her top, and then he closed her jacket with the same delicacy. "Who the hell are you, first of all?"So much for being delicate. She tried to scream, "Lelandi, and you know who the hell I am," between her teeth, but her voice was too husky. With the exception of gazing at his lovely chest, she could hardly keep her eyes open due to the heavy lids covering them. What about the rest of him, though? In her visions, he appeared naked, his sculpted body eager to please her in every manner, his corded muscles rippling as he moved. Why was she dressed, too? When she was c

CHAPTER 10

He was probably afraid Lucian would be upset with him for missing the shooter with a less lethal blow. Mason gave Lucian a tilted gazeSam and the other members of Lucian's tribe were circumspect about what they divulged since humans who were interested in what had transpired mixed with them. It prompted Lucian to reconsider the kiss. He couldn't even stand to hear the little red wolf, who was partially out of her mind, discuss lupus garous.Lucian interrupted the show by saying, "Let's get you to the hospital.""I'll go with him." Mervin continued to dress in his traditional barber garb, including his vest, white long-sleeve shirt with a red band around the arm, red bow tie, and straw hat perched atop his nearly black hair. "Lucian, the sheriff has cut short his vacation and is coming back here."“Good. This afternoon, at two, my team and I need to meet.Lucian went back to the area where the gunman lay dead after he had witnessed the injured being taken to the hospital. The man's c
