ONE

SERAPHINA POV

Hi, let me introduce myself my name is Seraphina Amara Wolfe or Sera for short, I have just turned 18 and I am a werewolf. I have fire red hair, blue eyes that turn gold when my wolf Lilith come to the front. I'm not very tall at around 5'2, I am quite slim as I have been living on the run since I was 3 and haven't been getting enough food, I find just enough to survive if that's what life is. I can't tell you anything about my parents or what pack I was from, as I have no memory of them. I lived with a human family for a little while when I was 8 but once I shifted at 10 which hurt, they got scared and threw me out, I was just lucky they didn't kill me which I hear they do to my kind. My wolf is Lilith her fur is the same fire red as my hair and her eyes are gold. She is a little small for a wolf but that normally gives us an advantage.

I have learnt not to spend too much time in one place because as soon as I start to get comfortable the hunters then find me. It took me a little while but I eventually found out that the hunters are brothers Zachary and Whytt, apparently their parents where killed by a werewolf so now they kill any and all they come across whether they are dangerous or not. I don't know how they found out about me but they have been chasing me for around 2 years now. I am nearly at the stage where I need to get moving again but Lilith is keeping me here, she wont tell me why she just keeps saying we have to stay.

I look around my makeshift bedroom, I can't sleep again, I don't have much a couple of change of clothes and an old ragged blanket, which didn't do much to warm me. I can feel someone getting closer, its not the hunters but this someone feels like they would be more of a threat to my heart then my life. I wonder if this someone is why Lilith wants us to stay.

I can't take it anymore I get up put all my stuff in my backpack and climb out the window. I jump to the ground and slowly walk down the ally to the street. There has been a lot of warnings put out over the last few week of people getting attacked after dark, so its best and safest to stay inside. The only problem was I didn't like it inside, I preferred the open fields or the atmosphere of the woods and forests. Because then I can let Lilith out for a run whenever she wants, being in the city she has to stay hidden which makes us restless. I head for the national park which is nearby thinking I could give Lilith a little stretch before going back and getting some sleep.

As I get closer to the park I start to hear footsteps behind me, its not the hunters as they don't change their boots and I can tell the sound of them from over a mile away. No these steps were light they sounded like a childs but I somehow knew that they belonged to someone a lot older. I just make it to the edge of the park when cold arms wrap around me, one around my waist the other around my shoulders, then I hear a raspy voice in my ear "What is a beauty like you doing out this late by yourself?"

"Well I was having a nice quiet walk alone until you came along"

"Being alone is not good in these times" He moves his head as if he is sniffing my neck

This action scared me just a little, he didn't smell like a wolf but he was acting like one. "Do you mind I would like to continue my walk you creep!?"

He hisses in my ear and growls "But you smell so good, I am having trouble keeping myself from tasting you and by the way I can smell your fear. Your fear is exciting me and I am slowly loosing my control."

I could feel his canines. No they are not, they are to close together to be canines they are fangs. Shit I am trapped in the arms of a vampire. I've heard all vampires are cruel, violent, ruthless and coldhearted, and I've heard that the king of vampires is the worst. They think that they are above everyone and they use any means necessary to get what they want, fear and terror are at the top of that list. I've only ever came across one other vampire in my travels her name was Amilia, I was scared of her at first but we became good friends in the end until I had to move on again before I bought trouble to her, It seems to follow me everywhere.

"Please don’t!... I just wanted a quiet walk to help me sleep..."

"Hmm! Your fear is getting stronger, I can help you sleep so I think I will have that taste and then I might have a little more fun with you.." He smirks against my neck as he bites down and starts to drink.

I scream and Lilith howls. I start to feel dizzy, he is the one holding me on my feet now, just before I pass out I see a black cape. The vampire that was holding me is no longer the one holding me, I'm in someone else's arms bridle style and the other guy has no head. I hear a very sexy voice whisper in my ear as I slip into unconsciousness "Its okay I have you now."

DOMINIC POV

I've been patrolling this same area for coming on 2 weeks. I know there is a rogue vampire hunting around here, he is the cause of all the attacks. My second and best friend would have a fit if he knew I was out here on my own hunting this rogue but its not just the rogue that has me out here, there is something else. I catch a simple scent every now and then, which seems to make my cold heart start to warm. My heart has been frozen since my parents were killed 150 years ago by someone they trusted.

 

Sorry let me introduce myself, my name is Dominic Issac King, I am 300 years old and I am the King of Vampires. I have black hair, very pale skin, green eyes unless my vampire side is near the surface then they turn red. My vampires name is Caleb, he has red eyes and he is the more cruel brutal half of me. I have been told even us vampires can have a mate and that, that mate can thaw the frozen heart of even the coldest vampire, but I have only ever seen it once and that was my mother and father. I trust very few people after my parents got betrayed and because of that betrayal I turned cold. There are rumours going around about my clan and how I rule, and I will admit that most of them are true but the people that know me, know that behind closed doors I am a different person. People only see the king, they don't see me.

I take a beep breath and catch the scent of the rogue, hes over at the park. I make my way to the park, I don't have to worry about my scent because being king has its benefits, I do have to keep to the shadows so I not give away my position. I make it to the edge of the park and spot the rogue vampire except hes not alone, he has his arms around a young woman. I take another breath in and catch the scent of the woman, and it pulled at my heart again. Caleb is going nuts in my head trying to come out. I hear then her sweet voice "Please don't!... I just wanted a quiet walk to help me sleep..."

Then I hear him "Hmm! Your fear is getting stronger, I can help you sleep, so I think I will have that taste and then I might have a little more fun with you.."

The woman screams but it has a howl joined in with it, does that mean she is a werewolf!?! I can't stop Caleb this time, he takes full control and speeds over grabs the girl picking her up bridle style and detaches the rogues head, killing him instantly.

Caleb whispers in her ear "Its okay I have you now." She then slipped into unconsciousness.

Once the rogue is dead Caleb gives me back control, I look at the mess "Thanks Caleb now we need clean up here and we are going to get a lecture from Nix and Seb about being out again without protection."

"Sorry but I had to save her. I feel connected to her, we need her..."

"Why? We have never needed anyone!?"

"I know but she is special. Trust me! You will know soon."

"Okay lets take her home and work it out in the morning."

I was dreading this, I pull out my phone and rang Phoenix and Sebastian, they pick up on the second ring "Your highness? What can we do for you tonight?"

"Nix, Seb I need clean up at the edge of the park."

"What? Why are you in the park? And are you alone again?"

"I was hunting the rogue, Caleb killed him, yes I was and I'm not alone anymore." I whisper the last little bit

"What do you mean youre not alone anymore?"

"Dam! Did I say that out loud?"

"Yep! Anyway, clean up is on its way. Will you now get back to the castle?"

"Okay on my way, Um.. Seb?"

"Yes your highness"

"Can you send a car to pick me up, I ahh... have some.... I just need you to send a car."

"Yes sir."

I don't have to wait long before a black SUV pulls up in front of me, unfortunately for me both Phoenix and Sebastian climb out of the front. They look at me with disappointment and anger, until they see I have something in my arms, then their faces only show confusion. I had tried to cover her with my cape as much as I could but I also knew that I wouldn't be able to keep her from them for long. I just didn't know how I was going to answer their questions because my questions were the same and I didn't have the answers.

"Don't ask..." I say opening the back door and climbing in careful not to drop her.

"Okay I wont ask now.... But I can't guarantee that I wont ask later!!" Phoenix says with a smirk

We head back to the castle in silence, I take this time just to have a look at her. She is beautiful and her hair, its just so different I like it. I could see a couple of scars on her body, which means she has been through a lot because if she is a werewolf like I think then they don’t scar unless it is a really bad wound or injury. I hold her close and Caleb seems to be humming in my head, he has never done that, he's always been angry, cruel and spiteful, I don't even think he has smiled once in over 150 years let alone hummed. Its strange but I'm sure it has something to do with this woman. I will have to do some research when I get back.

We pull up in front of the castle, I get out and head straight up the stairs to the door, one of the servants opens the front door and bows low. I smile at the respect and head up to my room, which is surprising as I allow no-one in my room. Anyway I enter my room and lay the woman on my bed. I cover her up, have a quick look at the bite on her neck from the rogue to find it is still bleeding. I lean down and use the healing in my saliva to fully seal off the bite and stop the bleeding. I shiver at the small taste of her, I fear that I will become addicted.

I move away from her and out of the room, I have a feeling that if I stayed in here any longer I will do something that I will regret. I close the door and head to my office to do some research, I need to know why I am drawn to this woman.
