The following day, Kai woke up earlier than usual. He was worried about his mother, and even though he was still mad at what she did to him, his instincts told him otherwise. His father would just call to play games with him, and he was a straight-up man who didn’t condone nonsense.“I got to go, Miranda; I have an emergency at home; it is about my mom; I think she is in trouble.” He said as he hurriedly took his jacket and his car keys.“What is wrong?
