THE CURSE.

I will not waste much time overviewing the point of the novel.

My name is Grace and I'm the author of this novel. I want to inform you that this book is purely a work of fiction and some events might be totally unbelievable and that's cool because that's how world of supernaturals work.

THE CURSE 

It was the 13th year of Lord Endymion rule. Lord Endymion decided to take for himself a wife among the goddesses. He arranged a character test, a royalty test and even an intellectual test and at the end only Selene the moon goddess proved herself worthy enough to be his Queen.

He took Selene as his Queen and showered her with everything he had and Lord Endymion had everything on the face of the earth. 

Selene loved Lord Endymion with every fibre of her being because he treated her with respect and took his time to win her heart.

But, Lord Endymion got power intoxicated and became convinced no one could over power him. He announced a conquest over the land and offered anyone who could make him bleed his heart. Selene warned Endymion against this conquest but all warning fell on deaf ears.

Every day, different contestants came and lost because Lord Endymion was a man of great power. Until a little Epaphus dared the king.

"I could make you bleed Lord Endymion" Little Epaphus said.

Everyone present laughed so hard at him because how could an 18 year old boy dare a thousand years old Lord.

"Kid, this is not a game of TikTakToe" Lord Endymion laughed.

Epaphus looked the king square in the face and stood defiant.

"Let me try" Epaphus insisted.

Queen Selene watching the exchange from a distance saw the strange spirit following little Epaphus communed with her husband to not let the child enter the conquest. 

Endymion ignored the warnings of this queen and accepted the dare offered by little Epaphus.

On the day of the conquest, the whole village gathered, even neighbouring villages gathered. This was going to be the best conquest the world has ever experienced. 

"Look here kid, you have five minutes to make me bleed if not.." The king said 

"You may have my head" Epaphus said confidently

The whole town murmured. " He can't be serious" They all yelled.

Lord Endymion smiled "Well if YOU win, what do you want kid?"

Epaphus paused for a while "Your heart"

And so the conquest began.

"One minute left" The time keeper yelled and Little Epaphus did nothing other than stare.

"Do you have a death wish?" The king asked Epaphus 

Epaphus said nothing but just stared.

With only 30 seconds left, Epaphus lifted his hands and tore off a junk of the king's skin.

The whole village gasped as they stared at the king's heart right in their faces. Epaphus had ripped the flesh off the kings heart. Epaphus smiled, dropped the ton of flesh and yanked the king's heart out of his rib cage.

"Long Live The King" Epaphus said as the king's limp body fell at his feet.

Queen Selene screamed and rushed to the side of her lifeless husband and cried. Epaphus stood there, hands dripping with the king's blood.

Suddenly Queen Selene rose to her feets, her eyes blaring a red light and faced Epaphus dead in the eyes.

"I don't know what you are kid,I don't know what spirit controls you but because of this that you have done, I curse you Epaphus. You will never find love, you will feel no emotion aside deep hatred for the world. You will be in constant pain and nothing will ease you of the pain. The same way you won't know love is the same way you won't experience death. I hereby take control of your heart Epaphus and hand it over to any child born at this minute. I declare you a mateless wolf for the next 500 years. I hereby banish you and everyone at this gathering to the deepest forest on this earth "

    PRESENT 

"What do you mean Anna?" My mother said looking at me like I grew another head

"I am travelling to Brazil" I said packing my box

"I heard you the first time. What are you going to do in Brazil?"

I groaned and tucked a strand of hair behind my ears. "I'm coming back to America mom, just give me a few months "

My mom looked at me before sighing and flopping down on my bed "I sometimes hate your adventurous lifestyle Anna"

I ignored her and kept packing my bags

"When will you be back?"

I stopped and thought for a minute "In five months"

Mom chuckled "You said that and ended up staying nine months in China last year"

"But mother!" I protested 

I loved my mother a lot but my urge to explore always superseeds my zeal to obey her

I left my box and walked over to where she sat

"I love you mom. I'm sorry if this is disheartening to you" I said and gave her a peck on the forehead. 

Mom swatted my hand away and got up "When you're ready call me. I'll drop you off at the airport"

I smiled as my mom walked of my room, I knew she'll agree with me anyways.

Now I'm sitted beside my mother in our car. "I can't believe I'll be the only one in the house for the next one year"

"Mother, why are you acting this way? what if I find my soulmate there and never return" I joked

My mother's morphed into that of fear "Anna!! Don't joke with stuffs like that!!"

I laughed and got out of the car. "Bye mom" I waved and walked away. 

Well hello Brazil.

The plane landed a while ago and trust me that was the longest I've stayed without talking non stop. 

"Good evening Ma'am" The tour guide greeted 

I smiled in a stateof suprise. Who knew they spoke English in Brazil?

"Good evening. Do you really speak English in Brazil?" I asked

Don't judge me, I can't keep my curiosity to myself 

The tour guide smiled "Because of our job as tour guides, we learn universal languages like English and Chinese" 

"Oh that's so cool. So will I be seeing a lot of people who speak English here?" I asked

"Yes actually, mostly the elders here commune in Portuguese" The tour guide explained. 

I thanked the tour guide for the explanation and dragged my box after me.

I gasped as I turned to admire the room allocated to me. Its super beautiful and I am staying her for the next five months.

I admit this trip cost me a lot of money but seeing this really made me admit that its worth the money. 

I dropped on the bed and enjoyed the softness of the bed. Maybe I'll arrange my things later in the trip.

Deep into a thick forest near Manaus, there lived the strongest pack of the Lupus. No other pack could ever defeat their pack and their Alpha Ace has been named the Lupus Deus for over a century now.

Legend has it that any human who stumbled upon their pack never left alive and what makes the pack stronger is the fact that their Alpha is without a mate and according to him, a mate is a leaders worst weakness.

The pack members live in total unity and they have complete respect for their Alpha. Everyone is happy in the pack and things are always going well.. until when Ace is in a bad mood

"What did you just say?" Ace roared at his Beta

"Alpha, calm down. I'm saying there's a bunch of tourist in a hotel in Manaus and their property is encroaching on our land" Beta Daniel explained 

Ace eyes blared red. "You're telling me that they're humans on this land..technically"

"Well yes but they mean absolutely no harm" Daniel explained. 

Meet Ace the legendary mateless Alpha. Ace is always keeping everyone on their toes and his most despised beings on earth are humans. Ever since the earth apocalypse and humans took over from gods, Ace never took a liking to them.

"Wanna hold a party tonight?" Daniel asked winking at Ace.

Although every one was scared of Ace,only Daniel could really look him in the eyes and make a joke.

"Why do you want a party?" Ace asked flipping through pack business 

"Because the holidays are almost over"

Ace paused for a second and looked at Daniel "Do you think you're still in high school?" 

Daniel laughed "The kids want a party, the elders want a party. Why not?"

Ace groaned before flying to his feet "I hate you Daniel" 

"I'm guessing you're giving your consent to the party" Daniel smiled and left.

Ace sat at his table devoid of any emotion. Its been two thousand years since he felt his wolf, but some how he knew Epaphus was still alive somewhere.

The next day, in the city the sun high above the ground. It was the perfect time for a picnic 

"The weather is so nice" I said gesturing to the scenery around us.

The other tourists agreed with me as we hiked up to the picnic spot which was a little far from the city and into the forest. 

I couldn't help but notice how warm this spot felt like it was used hours ago but I shook the feeling off telling myself that it was the sun that warmed the spot and not anything weird. 

"Are there appearances of wild animals like Wolves in Brazil?" A teenager asked from among the crowd. 

A weird look crossed the tour guide's face before the dude finally smiled and said "Because we're a little into the forest, there will definitely be presence of wild animals but nothing threatening I assure you"

Well it looked like the guide was assuring himself more than he was assuring us.

While everyone chatted and got to know each other, I took my phone and walked deeper into the woods. I might get something juicy that'll make this tour quite interesting. 

The deeper I went into the woods the stronger my feeling of dread was. Maybe this was a bad idea but something in the woods just kept drawing me nearer.

I walked till I reached a soft flowing creek and beyond the creek looked like a little city where people lived. My curiousity got heightened as I stared deep beyond the creek. Soon things got spinny and I almost almost lost my balance when someone suddenly placed their hand on my shoulder 

"Jezz!" I half screamed 

I turned and slapped the person's hand off me. "The hell! Why would you suddenly touch me?" 

The young man looked mortified like I pointed a gun at him. "I thought you were lost and came finding you to inform you that we are heading back to the hotel"

I took a deep breath and looked at things from the perspective of the man "I'm very sorry I snapped."

The man smiled at me and I noticed he was actually cute "No problem. Let's head back" 

I walked away with the man but couldn't shake that voice beyond the creek calling my name softly like a lullaby. I made a mental bet with myself to see what's beyond the creek. 

That night as I prepared for bed, I heard rustling outside my window and I looked out as I saw shadow of a wolf about ten feets away from my window. Holy fuck

I rushed to the window and slammed it shut as my heart kept beating rapidly. Why did the wolf get me riled up? 

Meanwhile in the shadows "Alpha, we have to go" Daniel said nudging Ace with his snut.

"Fuck off Mutt. Your nose is cold" Ace hissed.

As Daniel looked up at Ace smiling he noticed a flicker of a yellow colour in his eyes but it was so brief Daniel barely noticed.

"Are you alright Ace?" Daniel asked as they both walked back to the pack

"Why wouldn't I be?" Ace grunted

Daniel couldn't help but be excited. Ace's wolf was right at the edge tonight, maybe their Alpha's mate is somewhere near.

The next one month was pretty uneventful for Annalise.

"Yes mother I understand" I said into the phone

"You Uncle lives about 4 hours away from your hotel. Go visit him, he knows you're in Brazil"

"Okay mom. You've said that ten times already" I breathed

I heard my mom sniff into the phone "I miss you Anna" My mom whispered 

Not again.

Over the month each time my mother called, she always burst into tears. I've considered returning earlier but my balance wouldn't be refunded. 

"I miss you too mom" I said shutting my wardrobe. 

I talked a little more with my mother and got off the phone.

I threw on a baggy short and matching tank top, packed my hair into a high bun, slipped on a pair of crocs and hopped outside. 

I breathed and sighed. Such a summer morning. 

I walked to the bus stop and tried to ignore the stares I was getting. Maybe Brazil doesn't have lots of tourists roaming around .

"Uncle Alfonso" I said into the phone

"Little Anna. How are you doing?" My Uncle laughed into the phone.

I groaned as I shook my head. "I've told you many times Uncle Alfonso, I'm already 25" 

I chatted more with Uncle Alfonso and informed him that I was coming to visit him.

At the nearest bus stop there was a flower shop nearby. 

"Good afternoon" I greeted as I walked into the flower shop

"Hello. How can we help you?"

"Can I look around for flowers?"

The florist smiled and gestured for me to help myself.

I picked a bouquet of Orchids and walked back to the counter to pay when suddenly the old woman started convulsing.

I rushed to her side and in a hurry I pushed a vase of Roses and it shattered on the floor

"You.. You..The prophesy is over. Your curse is near. Beware of what saves you and kills you. Your true nature shall finally be showed. I pity you little one.. Ohh" The old woman said before finally passing out

The young florist smiled apologetically at me "My grandmother has been acting strangely of recent. I think her old age is rubbing off on her" The florist explained.

After the whole episode, I paid for my Orchids and walked the way to Uncle Alfonso's house.

"Good evening Uncle" I greeted as my Uncle and I shared a family peck on the cheek. I handed him the flowers and helped myself inside. 

"You've grown so big Mama Mia" Uncle Alfonso marvelled as I took a seat. 

I laughed "Well I am 25.I am expected to grow bigger" 

My Uncle and I just laughed around for hours and we Facetimed my mother who kept going on and on about her bad feelings towards this trip to Brazil. 

I got to my feet after staring at my phone "I have to go now Uncle" 

My Uncle's neck snapped so fast I thought they would break "Its very late Anna.Just stay the night"

I considered what Uncle Alfonso said but mentally denied. I'm not spending the night here. I faked the most apologetic face "I can't. Not tonight but I promise to stay some other time" 

My Uncle nodded his head in agreement and finally led me to the door "If you go halfway Anna and realise that you're too scared to continue just come back okay" 

I smiled and walked out into the cold street. Well fuck!

I walked for a while before concluding that I'd never find a bus and I will never walk the way to my hotel. It'll take me the whole night. While I was considering returning to my Uncle's house at 11pm in the night, I sighted a shadow in the woods. 

Oh this is getting creepy, I thought to myself. Now I'm seriously considering sprinting back to my Uncle's house. 

I felt the hair on my neck get electrified. Maybe it was just me but the wind already picked up around me. My fear brought a burning sensation to my stomach and all I wanted to do was pass out when I saw the figure under the street light dressed in a black robe and holding a scythe.

Is this some Death Is My BFF scene?

I hurried up and passed the figure. Suddenly, it was at my front.

"Well if it isn't Pandora herself" The figure hissed.

I stumbled a little before finally talking "You've gotten it wrong Mister. My name is Annalise and not Pandora"

The figure hissed some more and pushed me against a wall "How could a soul more dangerous take refuge in such a pure body?"

I don't know what's going on here but the heck?!

"Excuse me Mr Spit-Alot. You're in my face and I'd like to breathe oxygen that doesn't smell like ass" I sassed.

"Who do you think you are kid?" The figure spat some more.

"Okay Freak. This is the last time I'm telling you, I'm Annalise and I'll like to have you out of my face" 

In a jiffy, the figure was out of my face and far away from me. "What did you do?!" The figure hissed. 

I glanced down at its legs. It was disappearing. What?!! Few moments ago, I wished in my head that the spitting figure will disappear from my sight and now if was actually disappearing. 

"You're evaporating" I laughed.

Gathering more courage, I pushed myself off the wall and walked towards its disappearing body "You're going to hell" I spat.

The creature smirked "Well that's where I'm from Sweetie." 

And puff. It was gone.I'm left alone on the road at midnight looking so disoriented.

"Fuck You" I yelled into the night 

In a distance, I heard someone yell "Well fuck you too" and then another yelled "We have kids here fuckers"

What the hell goes on in Brazil.
