SAGE

I was seated on the bed in our bedroom when the door pushed open. Looking up from where I was seated, I was left with no choice but to plant a smile on my countenance.

“My lady—” Aegon stepped into the space.

“My Prince—” I called back, shutting my eyes in fear of not covering that part of my neck that should be covered.

“How are you doing?” Confirming that it was covered, I shifted to the other side so that he could only stay next to me, but not the side that had the mark next to my neck.

“How are you doing, my wife?”

That was a strange question.

The kind I haven't heard him ask in a long while. At least, since he went on that trip and came back with a gloomy countenance.

“I am doing well—” after one moment of thought, I let out. “Do—do you need something?”

“No, not at all—” his gaze still fixed on me made me look uncomfortable. “I don't think I need anything from you, my lady. Is there something wrong with checking on you? Mm? Let me know.”

My head shook in

SAGE As usual, I was the first to wake up this morning. My eyes scanned the room and I looked at the window from where rays of sunlight came at me. A smile on my countenance explained how I enjoyed what happened here a few hours ago—even though I still searched my feelings. The Prince and I did not have that attraction. The kind I had with the Alpha. The Alpha, Knox, made my wolf react at the slightest provocation as long as he was standing next to me or if worse, in the same space as me. A smile came on my countenance, widening my face. No, I shouldn't be smiling. I should be angry at the Alpha. Can't I see what he's done? Can't I see the damage he's caused? What does Aegon even think about me? Was he in love with me or something? I looked at the side of the bed where the man lay, shutting my eyes and falling on it the next moment. There was a lot to worry about, but I didn't want to think too much. If there's something I want to think of, it'll be nothing but

KNOX “How are you, Uncle?” I moped at the man, a smile on my countenance. “I don't recall the last time you asked me this, Aegon. I know I am fine. Very much better than the last time. How are you doing also?” The young man adjusted on the chair in the hall where just the both of us were seated. “I am fine, Uncle. As a matter of fact, I feel good on a morning like this.” “I'm glad. I'm glad.” These days, conversation with my nephew seems like a waste of time. I was hurt for doing something like that to him and I was almost sure that the guilt could be read on my countenance. What was I supposed to do? I couldn't avoid the young man for the rest of my life, so this was a truth I must live with. A smile came on my countenance and I looked up. “Do you want to tell me how your wife is faring, son? Do you also want to talk about something? The look on your countenance says it all.” “Well—” the young man adjusted on the chair. “I thought I could talk to you about something, Uncle

SAGE The full moon passed a few nights ago. Everything and everyone in the Pack returned to normal, including myself who was a little bit shaken by the new weather—although I felt better already. My eyes opened on the bed this morning. Aegon wasn't next to me as it should be, leaving me to wonder where he was at this time of the morning. I sat up, heaving a sigh as I let out my first yawn of the day. The day had started, but where was Aegon? My legs led me to my feet and I paced the room while trying so hard to regain the little strength I should have in me. Now, there was a knock on the door. The thoughts running around in my head seized automatically and I asked. “Who's there?” Knowing fully well that it was none other than Aella who had come to bathe me as usual by this time of the day. “My lady?” She called. “It's me. Your maid, Aella. I have come to bathe you this morning.” Snapping my fingers, the woman walked in in seconds. Bowing, she mouthed. “Good morning to the fut

SAGEWhat was he doing here? The look on my countenance wasn't welcoming and in seconds, I changed it to something welcoming. There was a smile on my countenance and I bowed, not knowing what to do—at the same time wondering the last time I had seen the man. That was a long time ago. “Alpha Knox—” Left with no choice, I mouthed. “Good morning, Lady Sage,” in seconds, the man scanned the room before walking further. “I thought it was wise to check in on you. I almost cannot recall the last time we set eyes on each other. How are you today?” He was right. Even I could not recall the last time we set eyes on each other. Many thoughts were running around in my head and one of the wishes I had was the man turning around and leaving this space. The usual reaction I had whenever he was in the space with me was not wasting time to arrive. I could feel it—right there, at that side of my chest and once again, it felt as though my wolf was about to come to life. “I—” I stuttered. “I am d

KNOX There was no way I would be mad at the woman for forgetting to speak to me as the Alpha that I was. For all that I knew and somehow, I deserved to be spoken to like that, and I won't for one moment, blame her. I had done a lot to her. A lot that she didn't know about. Starting from bringing her into a cursed family without her consent or knowledge of it. How could I be so—? I stopped to look at the door of my room—a door I caught up with, already. One push and it was opened. One step and I was inside the space, digging my way through the bedside. A part of me had wanted to speak. Perhaps the young woman had forgotten she was talking to me, hence the tone she used in speaking to me. Again, I could not blame her. I needed to take my bath before anything. Hunger was another word to describe me and the mood I was in, but I had to endure until after my bath, so I jerked a towel from a hanger where it relaxed before leading my way to the door of the bathroom. At that instant, a

SAGE*One Month LaterAbout a few days ago, I went to drop a sample of my blood for Doctor Logan, the man in charge of the Pack's medical activities. There was a need to check if I was pregnant because I felt sick, somehow these days. Perhaps it was me who thought about it a lot, and nothing was wrong with me. But how could I be so sure? My legs led me out of the chamber. Aella had bathed me a while ago, and I was ready to leave on my own—without her just as it should be. Maybe it shouldn't be so, but I wanted this meeting to be between myself and the man who took my blood sample a few days ago. “Shall I come with you, my lady?” I stopped walking and turned to look at the guard who stood at the door. “No, there'll be no need for that. My intention is to take a walk around the Pack's compound and I shall be back before you know it—” lies. Lies upon lies, but should I care? I didn't want to be followed and would do anything at all to have it that way. Again, I moved, humming a son

SAGEThe fruit I was feasting on, fell to the ground. Or was it me who didn't hear him correctly? I wondered, a confused look on my countenance as I looked up to see the face of Aegon who moped at me as though he had seen a ghost. “I'm afraid I did not hear you correctly, my Prince. Would you like to repeat what you have just asked me?” The man coed. He nodded but shifted farther. How did he know I wouldn't mind driving a knife through his heart? No, that was extreme but with the anger boiling inside of me, I could do any and everything. “What did you ask me?” “Blood—” the man mouthed, shamelessly. “I'll need a cup of your blood, baby. That's what I said.” Of course, my ears were working perfectly. There was no way I heard the wrong thing because my ears did not have any fault. “Why?” I then asked, controlling my anger. Perhaps—just perhaps, there was a reason why he needed blood from me after taking so much from me just yesterday that was the full moon night. “Why should I g

How did he know that at this point, I would be willing to drive a knife into his heart? “What did you say just now, Aegon?” “I—” the man stuttered. “I am a cursed man, Sage.” There was no way I would sit and take in this news. My legs, on their own and without a lead, pushed me to my feet. The next moment, I found myself pacing the space with a confused look that was plastered on my countenance. “I don't understand.” How could I understand? How could I understand what that statement had to do with sipping my blood now and then, and even on days that weren't the full moon? “What are you saying?!” I shouted at the top of my voice. The urge to hit the man was more than overwhelming, and I didn't know how I was supposed to deal with such a piece of news. “Talk to me, Aegon. I am listening to you. Can you get words out of your mouth?” “I'm sorry.” “What are you sorry f

SAGEMoonclaw Pack? Did I hear the man correctly? “Moonclaw Pack?” I walked towards the door and out of the room. The next time I turned around, Alpha Knox walked behind me. There was a look on his countenance and it looked like anger more than the normal him. Together, we caught up with the entrance of the living room and walked out with anger on my countenance. I knew already that it was the people I once lived with, but what did they want from me? “Good day, Luna of The Darkfangs Pack.” Did that—was that greeting for me? I looked around in shock, not believing my eyes and ears. What did I just hear? I looked at my brothers who had smiles on their faces, wondering also what was funny and why they smiled. “Good day to you—” I let out after some time. “Good day, Alpha Knox.” My husband walked forward. There was a smile on his countenance but I could tell that it was fake. How could it not be? “What can I do for you today, my in-laws?” The old Alpha walked closer. He bowe

With a smile on my countenance, I looked in the mirror at how good I looked—nodding in satisfaction with my heart that looked forward to the ceremony. Everywhere in the compound looked set. I was ready. I could feel it inside of me. What more could I ask for? The smile faded when thoughts of Aegon came running in my head but I pushed it away the next moment, smiling once again with my heart that looked forward to the ceremony. “You're beautiful in your outfit, my lady.” “Thank you.” I turned to look at the maid who did a good job of getting me ready. “Can we leave already?” “Yes—” the maid mouthed. She got off the bed and took hold of my garment from behind. Something Aella should be doing but I struggled so hard to not think about a woman who had done nothing but betray me. She did what she had to do, after all. The Alpha will need to be spoken to as soon as the ceremo

KNOXSage nodded. “I'm ready, Knox.”Taking back her hand in mine, I led her out of the chamber. Through the hallway, we went—with Brian who walked behind me all this while. My guard who never would let me down. It didn't take long to get down the stairs. So many thoughts ran around in my head but I let it be because, at the end of the day, everything would play right. Either right or wrong. “Gather the wolves, Brian. You may leave now. I'm sure the angry wolves cannot do anything to me and the woman. But if they choose to be violent, then we shall have it.” There was no need to play nice any longer. Not when I could turn into a wolf and deal with them. Catching up with the compound of the main pack, I felt something—someone squeeze my hand. “Easy, my lady—” I looked at the woman. “I'm sorry, my lord. Forgive my actions.” Sage looked up at me and then at the wolves who looked so much in her direction while they gathered in front of me. “Where are all the wolves?” More wolves

SAGE I shouldn't have returned to the pack with Knox, but I didn't have a choice because, at that point, the man was not going to let me be on my own, and talk more about finding my way. “You're going back to The pack with me and nothing is going to change that—” In a commanding tone I could not refuse, Knox picked up Aegon's lifeless body on the floor. This was a moment I had refused to believe was real but I didn't have a choice because it played right in front of me. Another reason I could not refuse to go back to the pack with Knox. I didn't want to die, even though it seemed otherwise all these while. A sigh ran out of my mouth and my mouth opened in more tears—while I walked behind Knox who was ahead of me with the lifeless body. How much longer before we arrived at the pack? I was tired. Tired of everything, especially walking such a distance with so many bags to carry along even though it was just one and there was Knox who took everything up in his arms. When does it get

KNOXHow could I explain this to him? “Did you say a woman I have been married to since all these while is your mate, Uncle?” I nodded, ashamed but what choice did I have? “She's your mate. You've known from the onset.” I looked at Sage who had it clear on her face that she was scared. But I shifted closer to her so that she could feel nothing but safety while Aegon remained in his feelings. “Aegon—” I then called. “You need to calm down and listen to me. I didn't mean to hurt you.” “I didn't say you did—” he chuckled, standing on his feet. “I'll need some time to take in this news so you must give me some—” he walked away and was out of our sight. The next time we set eyes on Aegon, it was moments later when he walked back into the scene so that he could take his flask and with this, the man was gone from our sight again. “He hates us—” Sage cried. “I can see it.” “You don't know what you're talking about—” I cried. “He's my nephew and a good man at that. Aegon cannot bring hi

SAGEI didn't know what to feel like. Especially seeing Aegon who I should be avoiding. There was shock on the countenance of Knox who didn't expect Aegon of all the people in the Pack to say that. But what choice did the Alpha have? “I'll go with you if Knox doesn't.” “I didn't say I wouldn't go—” Knox mouthed. He looked away from me and met the gaze of Aegon who watched with thoughts that surely were running around his head. “Aegon, you don't have to do this. The members might come for you if they find out it's you who helped us.” “I got tired of living a long time ago—” Aegon looked at me and then his uncle. “We'll leave in a short while. For now, I need to get a few things ready because it might be a long journey and you don't want to know how long.”The sound of ‘long’ scared me more than anything. What was the man talking about? “I don't care how long it is—” I interrupted everyone's thoughts. “Myself and Knox will be here.” He nodded, faced the door, and came out of my

Can't you see?!” At the top of her voice, a woman shouted like never before. Forced to open my eyes, I looked around the space as I tried so hard to read the room so that I could understand what was happening. That was when the voices of wolves—angry wolves filled my ears. “Give Her To Us!” “Can you hear that?” An already crying Sage mouthed. Letting go of me, the woman reached the end of the room before turning back around to look at me—her eyes teary. “I don't know what I'm supposed to do—can't you see they want me given to them?” I still didn't understand because there was so much sleep in my eyes and I didn't know what to do and how to do it. Rather, I was on my feet and reaching the other end of the chamber so that I could pay attention to what was going on but how could I? More sleep filled my

SAGEWhat he was saying didn't make any sense, but I wanted to hear more of it. “What did you say, Knox? And how do you mean?” “Isn't it simple?” He adjusted on the couch but I wondered how I was supposed to know. “You being a Silver Wolf is a good thing for this pack. The members don't see it.” “You're confusing me. I don't understand you.” Again, the Alpha adjusted on the couch. A sigh ran out of his mouth and he let out. “I don't think we should talk about it yet, Sage. Give me some time to process my thoughts. Do you need something?” Why did he act that way? It was my turn to let out a sigh. Even though I wanted to hear the man talk to me about how a Silver Wolf could be of help to him and the Pack, I wished I could not listen to him say it. “Hello, Sage. Did you at least hear me?” I nodded and shook my head. “Forgive me, Alpha Knox. But I heard you. I'm just too overwhelmed by a lot to recall what you said a while ago. Can you remind me?” The man got up. He walked to

KNOXDays had passed. I didn't touch the life of Aella. She deserved to be punished but according to Sage, the one we have done to her was more than enough. I walked through the Pack's compound on this day. More than enough thoughts were running around in my head but one was what to do with the wolves who looked at me as though I had done something wrong to them. “Good morning, Alpha Knox.” “Good morning, all.” I waved at those who saw me and those who didn't. The strength to go about talking was something I didn't have and besides, no one needed to explain to me and let me know when I knew they were all mad at me—I caught up with the living room entrance. The moment I stepped in, all I could feel was relief. Far from the members and their deadly stare. No one said a word about it to me. Maybe they realized I still was the Alpha of The Darkfangs Pack and could have my say. Wasn't that it? “My lord—” the voice of Brian broke me from my thoughts. Looking up, there he was. “You s
